Help?!? Data Sync Problems

I just purchased a Mobile Action USB adapter and software for my Sanyo mm7400 phone. I got one cause I heard and saw on here that they work great. Well when I upload my phonebook its not in alphabetical order. Even if it says so on the computer screen, its not when you go in the phonebook on the phone.

Also when the phonebook is uploaded the caller id will no longer recognize my contacts. When I receive a call it gives me only the number and not the name even though that name is in my phonebook with that exact number.

And this has been going on so it may be a Sprint issue but I figured I'd post it>>>

When I receive text from other carriers the number is now sent with a #1 in front of the area code. (ex. 1-555-555-5555) This didn't s...

s710 Changing internet settings after Connection Manager?

Well if anyone has the S710 yet and happens to use it via bluetooth to connect to the Cingular Connection Manager you might run in to problems trying to access Cingular MEdia net afterwards. For some reason it either changed the internet settings to only connect in CSD and not GPRS unless for some strange reason it just decided to pick CSD. After many hours of tech the only way to fix the problem was to do a Master Reset. If anyone knows another way to fix this problem let me know.

Nortel demos OFDM/MIMO combo for beyond-3G standards
By Sam Omatseye
Mar 9, 2005
Nortel Networks Ltd. said it has reached what it described as a milestone in a demonstration of OFDM and MIMO technologies, with speeds that transcend current third-generation capabilities.
The company said the combined technologies can support twice as many subscribers as OFDM alone, adding it is "proposing OFDM/MIMO as its evolution vision beyond HSDPA/HSUPA and CDMA 1x EV-DO into 3GPP and 3GPP2 wireless standards."

continued below
OFDM is the base radio technology used by Wi-Fi and WiMAX, while MIMO is an advanced antenna and space-time processing technology, explained Nortel.

The wireless supplier said the combined technology demonstrated large ...

Question about EVDO, Rich

Does anybody know if, when VZW releases the EVDO handsets in January, they will also spread EVDO service to more cities? I keep hearing 1 of 2 things:

1. When the new EVDO handsets come out, they will turn EVDO on network-wide, not just in the 33 trial markets. Heard this from a couple of network engineers, who will remain nameless for obvious reasons.

2. They will keep rolling it out in a few cities here & there, for what reason I don't know. Allegedly, the network equipment is ready in most markets. I know it is in SID 4160, New Orleans. Keep in mind that this station runs from the New Orleans area west through Baton Rouge and Lafayette, then down to the Gulf Coast through Morgan City & Houma. EVDO is active already in Metro New Orle...

Laptop internet acess

I would like laptop internet access, via cel, on my boat this summer. I bought a Motorola V551 (Cingular) anticipating high speed connection with bluetooth, then found they want to charge for minutes, data transferred and Media plan. I have ATT dial up service at home and have a 3-com cellular modem PC card (3CXM556) which I used with my Nokia 6150 (1500bps). I am aware of a Radio Shack cord with software. What is a good way to go to get dial up speed or better at a modest charge. What hardware and software is needed and where is it sold.

I got the first post!!!

Nyaaaaah!

I am digging on the 5220, for all its quirks. Not as solid as the 555 or the pc3320, but good nonetheless.

Differences between national networks ???

I'm no techie, but I'm interested in using the PocketSurfer by Datawind for e-mail access using a bluetooth cell phone. I'm with Sprint now, but my phone's old and I'm not committed.

Before I buy a new Sprint bluetooth phone, should is there a compelling reason to switch to another network???

Background data:
Wife's still committed to Sprint for about a year. To switch and break even, my costs with another carrier for service with data would have to be about $45 a month. I'd pay a little more if there's a good reason.
Currently sharing 400 anytime minutes (unlimited evening & weekend) without any problem.
I'm a Southwest Airlines employee, so I travel a good bit to the 60 cities served by SWA, and need available service in thos...

Data Cable Question

I am purchasing a data cable for my LG VX5550 phone. I purchased one without software. My computer will pick it up as new hardware, right? I am thinkin it will work as if it was one of those little "jump drive" sticks. Am I right? Can someone please clarify this. The link to the one I purchased is: http://www.88-gifts.com/lglx5450/lg-lx5450-12 00-lx5550-usb-data-cable.htm

Wireless internet via data cable and dial-up

I have two different customers with the same problem. They both have laptops and are trying to use their cell phones to dial into their ISP. Each one receives a message saying unable to connect to computer. Of course, the drivers are installed correctly, and there are no conflicts. I'm hoping there is a piece of software available for download which makes this possible. One is a Motorola v551, which can only make voice calls using phone tools 2 (or 3), and the other is a Samsung X427m, which cannot make voice calls using samsungs easyGPRS software.

Has anyone found a program that will allow dial-up connections via usb cable?

Bluetooth Car Kit

It's weird that I can't find a good comparison/review of all the Bluetooth Car Kits available on the market. Can someone please suggest what is the best? When I say best, I'm thinking future compatibility (say the next 5-10 years), sound quality and overall ease of use?

Are the OEM Bluetooth Car Kits that come in all brand new cars available for sale? What do they use? I'll call the BMW dealer see what they have... but knowing BMW it'll be 5 million dollars...

Give me ideas please...

Thanks,

Boris

P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong forum... let me know if it is and I'll post in another.

Struggling with BT - v551 and PowerBook

They discovered each other last night, and I could briefly browse the phone on the powerbook tonight.

But then I was trying to put in a connect script, and something screwed up. The phone asked me for a password, and I remember the computer giving one last night, but I didn't have it written down to remember it.

I tried deleting the phone and computer from each other's device lists and reinstalling, but the computer can't discover the phone now.

I'm sure what I have done is dumb for lots of reasons, but any suggestions of what to try next?

Thanks.

Bluetooth hacking

I was wondering if there have been any successful attempts to hack into a phone's software/firmware to change it's profiles. For example, Sprint's crippled LG PM-325 doesn't have the obex profile, is it possible to add this? If so, how?
Also, I have the sony PEG-TG50 Clie, and use it and the LG to access wireless data, it seems that web pages never load (I wait about 2 minutes and nothing displays and become impatient), but I can access clie mail just fine. (including mail with attachements)
Is there anything I'm not doing to access Sprints 50-70kbps data speeds? I don't see why it isn't working/wouldn't work. Please help...
