Inspired

So I got one of those "you're not american" customers and the Muse came down to me and had tea in my brain.

I responded.

"John, as much as I would love to, I would not be able to help you if you don't refrain from the xenophobic language."

And this how you get out of your blue contract (2g only)

I used to work in the call centre so I know this works. I recently quit and got a new job, but decided to do something helpful for all the poor AT&T TDMA (digital) customers who got hosed by AWs and now are getting the golden shower from cingular. So I decided to post this little tidbit of info.

Getting Out of Your Blue Contract Without a Cancellation Fee

1) Go to your local Cingular store. (I say store becuase otherwise you will pay $9.95 shipping.)

2) Wait 6 weeks for a representitive to help you. 😛 Tell the representitive that you are interested in migrating your blue account to orange.

3) Let them "convince" you that you want whichever piece of crap they have on special today and get it. (It really does not matt...

Opening

Okay, so I arrived at my store at 9:08 this morning. We open at 10.

There are currently four customers standing outside waiting to get in...they have all read the sign, so they know that they have a good 45 minutes before I open.

This jackbutt just walks up, sees the four people standing there, and then pulls on the door anyway. Priceless.

For every yank on that door, we will be opening a minute later...you're already at 10:05...wannna go higher?

US Cellular- Pay and Benefits

I've been looking at applying for a job at a US Cellular call center. But on the website I can't seem to find any specifics about pay and benefits for call center employees. Does anyone have a general idea as to what type of compensation package they offer. Now I know its impossible to expect a definite answer here... I'm just looking for a ballpark idea of whats to be expected. Thanks in advance!

I wish we could smack parents!!!

One of my biggest pet peeves are those parents who bring there kids to a business and don’t care what they do.
I just had a guy bring his two kids in, and his younger son had some sticky stuff on his hands, which he smeared for about five minutes over every square inch of glass on three large display cases. Meanwhile the father watched and smiled. Parents these days have no respect for anything, personally I treat a business as if I were a guest in someone’s home and if I make a mess I clean it up.

I wish we could smack customers.

Had a customer that wanted to look into upgrade otions. This in and of itself is no problem. "Sure, we can take a look into that! Can I get your mobile number?" when I accessed the account a memo popped up stating that customer has threatened our company and claims to be involved with a television show called "Consumer's Revenge!" He has made statements involving the phrase "sue you" so obviously we need to walk on egg shells. As I give the spiel, the customer gets irrated, but never harsh, about the fact that existing customers can't get the same internet price as new customers. When I explained the reasons and that infact this is usually a standard industry wide, he decided to tell me how he could easily just go to a different carrier in o...

Been a while since I had a call like this one.

This makes me chuckle. 🤣

First. This idiot won't raise his voice, he's whispering. I ask him to raise his voice because I can't hear him and he pretty much doesn't. So I started whispering too, out of sheer annoyance (this goes back to that post on Deliberate mistakes I make. I've gotten contentious in my old age apparently.)

But our first caller, we'll call him Ben*... he wants three P735 phones on a family plan. The family plan itself isn't that weird, the phones are. If you look up the P735, you'll see that they are older, have some pretty nifty features but are clunky. They also retail at 500 big ones. We're selling them for $200 for new activations. I have seriously NEVER (not one time) sold one of these phones. If...

other carriers charges.

Howdy I work for Cingular care as a manager and I keep hearing that other carriers charge customers to speak to customer care anywhere from 1$ to 5$ is this true? 😲 If not then count me gullible because the way the American big business is going it I believe it may be can you guys set me straight? I would like to know.
Thanks EH! 🙂

Sales people - what incentives would you like?

I work for an electronics company that produces cell phones. All of our products are sold through the retail stores and authorized dealers of the carriers. Because of this, we heavily depend on the sales people at those stores to push our products.

Anyway, we're always looking for ways to motivate these sales staff so that they are thinking fondly of our brand and to know it inside-out when a customer has a question about it.

So what I want to know, is what WOULD motivate you to sell more? What would you like from us? What could we do to make your sales job easier?

Our incentive program is like most - people with great sales of our products get all sorts of goodies (trips, high end products, etc) - and our reps distribute golf sh...

Rotten backstabbing...

So a new scenario that has me so mad and it wasn't a customer, it was one of our own reps, in our call center who stabbed me in the back.

A customer wanted to order some prepaid kits and we started to place the order but when I processed it came up as being a bad CVV number. As she was pulling out the card her toddler was trying to play with the phone, I heard her say, "No baby, don't play with the phone..." click. So the baby accidently hung up the phone. No biggie, I called back but the baby was screaming and so I said I would call back in about 10 minutes, gave her daughter (who answer the phone) the reference number and went to take another couple calls. When I called back the second time she was apparently on the line with anothe...

Nokia 6682 Problems and Very poor Nokia customer service

I have been a fan of Nokia as they have always made the very best phones with far superior reception than others that I have used. Now for my experience with the 6682. Please keep in mind that this is my SECOND one and it has the same problems as the first.

This is Nokia's response to a known issue with their phone:

Dear Nathan,

Thank you for your response.

We value your comments and consider customer feedback and important indicator of customer satisfaction.

Nathan, at this time if there are no Authorized Service Centers in your area the only other repair option would be to send the mobile phone in to our National Repair Facility. We do not offer any type of advanced exchange where we can offer you a replacement first and ...

US Cellular??? Is that a mis-print?

US Cellular, just from the name and the commercial with cows "roaming free" you would expect a nationwide company??? What is wrong with this picture? Noted on the back of some US Cellular collateral I have lying around the store, "If more than 50% of your usage for three consecutive months occurs outside a US Cellular licensed market, your service will be terminated..." If that is not funny enough, open the brochure and look at their map... they should be called Chicago, Oregon and the Carolinas Cellular, that would fit more precisely with the markets where they actually own spectrum. What a rip???? We (guys from our store) were at dinner the other night and decided that US Cellular already has a nationwide 4 SALE sign on their front lawn. W...

If ya thought that was nasty....

I've only been working in this industry for a few months but I enjoy reading the many posts here and especially the WTF stories. As bad as you may believe customers to be in stores, try working in a casino. Your customers are already irrate since they just tossed 2 grand into a machine that has a max payout of only a grand (yeah, math wizzes they aint). Not only that, but I've seen some seriously disgusting actions in casinos that anywhere else would have had them arrested. Old people crappin' their pants, young people puking from drinking, drunks pissing into coin buckets (no, I don't think they wash those either...eww), people spitting on the floors, ashing their cigarettes everywhere except the ashtrays, etc. I can only imagine how b...

when is enought enough

I was reading "irate customer" and it made me think that dealing with the public is not easy.

I was wondering from you all how far you are willing to go with a customer as far as arguing before you feel that you might get fired if you dont stop.?

there are times that I get smart with customers only because that is the way they are treating me and i dont feel that i should have to sit back and take the disrespect from them. Sometimes it gets to the point where im shaking so much and have to leave the store or call the cops or security in the mall.

i wish people wouldnt treat us like dog ****, and act surprised when we treat them like **** just like they are treating us.

shut that child up!!!

Oh my gosh, a customer is in the store with her child. The child is being pretty good. (The kid is only about 1 years old.) The boy has a dollar and kept dropping it. So the mother spanked him. Then he started crying SO LOUD... 😢 then she tells him to stop crying and he doesn't so she spanks him again!!! What the hell. Just shut the kid up!!!

These are the ones that make me grind my teeth.

K. I've said and I still say that NORMALY people being stupid, yelling, and cursing doesn't get to me but this one, this type of caller really grinds my gears. It's the Selflish "I'm a special and unique snowflake" callers that get to me and make me want to say not nice things. This guy...
