What would you do?(Kinda long)

A repeat annoying "Customer" came in today to get a phone. He has been working the system for some time getting rediculous credits and free equipment. Today he came in and got a phone via a VIP upgrade and signed a two year agreement. We informed the customer this would have to stay in his name for six months or we would charge the six month phone agreement fee of $200.

So he comes in later in the day to get customer care to credit him the difference of what he paid after rebate. Close to $180. While here he tells me he is planning on reliquishing the line to a friend (thus rendering it a 11 month contract) and set up a new account free of notation with his current equipment so that he can continue to work the system free of accounta...

don't you hate it when...

we need a "don't you hate it when..." thread...

my "don't you hate it when" for today is:

when a customer asks to see a phone and you hand it to them and they hold it for a while and then hold it kinda out where you don't know if they're handing it back to you or just holding it... it's awkward when you try and take it from them when they weren't really handing it back AND when they are trying to hand it back and you don't know so you don't take it.

misdirected anger

a customer came up and asked me why her bill is so high... i'm an agent so i can't look into all the billing details, but i thought i'd take a look at what i can see and try and help her out... everything looked normal and she asked about the text package... her daughters' (4 lines) all had a 100 text plan and I told her they each have 100 texts a month and if they go over that might be what is causing the increased price. She starts yelling at me that that's not possible because they'd have to send sooooo many texts to get the bill that high so it must be something else... this goes on for a while, she insists that i can tell her what else is making her bill so high... i tell her she can check text usage online, blah blah, etc... when her ...

We are not the freaking credit bureau...

...so why do people think it's OK to call and waste our time talking about "I wanna get a credit check/get my credit ran/see if I got a deposit" knowing full well they don't have a credit card, so they won't be setting up service over the phone anyway?!?! This is not Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion...we don't sit here and run credit because we have nothing better to do. I'm here to make sales. Period. The next time someone calls and asks for credit, I'm going to ask if they have a credit card. If they don't, I'm telling them to go to the store. Simple as that.

Best Sunday in forever

Instead of getting hounded by people with no concept of mall hours, I'm getting paid for three hours of sitting on my ass at the store across town, hanging out with my asm, and eating leftover birthday cake for breakfast while the floor cleaners do their business before opening time. Sure, I had to get here at 8 which sucked, but I will only have to do two hours of actual customer interaction today before I get to leave. How sweet it is.

Grrr

I hate shady salespeople, a young woman just told me that before she moved here earlier this week she signed up for a plan and was told by the rep they didn't have any RAZRs, but she could take a free phone and exchange it when she got here for one. OK no problem, right... this is more or less what happened next:

"Sure no problem, I can exchange that for you. I just need the box its contents and the reciept from a corporately owned **** store"
"I don't have the box"
"OK, well bring all the rest in and I will see what I can do" (I was gonna be nice and not even charge a restocking fee for not having a box)
"So I can't get an exchange?"
"No, bring everything else in and we will work it out assuming you got it from a corporate store"
"I...

Losing Sales

There ain't nothing like the feeling of loosing a sale to a prospective customer because a customer had come in just before to see what plan he is on... and the the only way you can figure out that plan is to make a five + minute phone call to customer service. 😡
I can only say, "I'll be with you in just a second to look over plans and phones" so many times before that person'll leave.

I guess even the a-holes are bigger in Texas

Potential cust comes up, we go over plans, everything seems fine. Given the first five minutes of our conversation, I would've never expected any of the following to occur (I'm posting excerpts of our convo that highlight his a-holeness).

cust: I hate US Cellular so much. I hate them so much I wish their stores would all burn down and they would all get stomach cancer and die!!!

me: 😳 Wow...

a few minutes later:

cust: Now US Cellular seems to think I need to pay Kansas taxes even though I have a Texas number

me: Well, if your billing address is in Kansas--

cust (interrupting me): That aint gonna happen (remember this phrase, he will repeat it often)

me: Okay, then we will have to set you up with a Texas billing addre...

Little Magical Phones

So, I was activating 2 brand new lines for some really nice women. And while I was imputing the information I couldnt help but overhear their conversation they were having looking at the Bluetooth headsets (Right beside my desk.) They start looking at the Samsung WEP200, the TINY black bluetooth. After hearing the converstation for a few minutes, they think it is a cell phone. They start asking eachother, "I wonder how you dial?" "I wonder what the Cases look like for that phone?" " Where is the speaker phone?"

I am trying not to fall out of my chair laughing. Then, they wonder if ALL of the bluetooths are phones.

Say what you all want, but, I LOVE MY JOB

Little snot

This little girl, maybe 12 years old, comes in with dad who's going to buy her a phone. He wanted something basic and the first thing he said was he wanted text messaging blocked. He also said she couldn't have a camera phone. She goes straight for the KRZR and starts crying that she has to have it. I have none in stock, so I'm hoping he says no.

She cries that it's her birthday and he has to get her what she wants. After about 15 min of this, and me showing them other phones, dad finally caves and asks when I will have them in again. I tell them next week, which is still a week before her birthday, but she can't wait. The closest store that might have them is at least 45 min away. I didn't tell them that, but it's a big city, s...

Annoying.

I hate when customers come in here because their significant other is shopping elsewhere and they ask me trillions of questions, knowing full well that they're not going to buy anything, they're just in here killing time.

Retail Stores vs. Call Centers

I work for Cingular wireless in a call center, and there has recently been some... *insert word I cannot say on this board* that has happened, and i may be wanting to not so much be here.

So, I was thinking about maybe going to work for VZW at a retail location (One of Cingular's biggest rivals 😈 ). How is working sales/customer care in a retail location; especially Verizon?

well, if you paid your bills...a little long

Snotty little girl and very mean looking mom come in the store. They smell of complete BO and dirt. Their clothes look like they haven't been washed in a few years.

Me: "How may I help you this evening?" (I'm the only one in the store and they're the only customers)

Customers: completely ignore me

Me: "Here to look at some phones this evening?"

Mother: "Just lookin'. Don't need no help"

Me: "OK. Let me know if you have any questions."

I give them a few minutes.

Me: "Any questions on any of the particular models?"

Girl: "All of these phones suck. Where you keep the Blackjacks at?"

Me: "I don't have Blackjacks. They are sold by a different company. We have similar offerings such as the XYZ that star...

so a mom walks in here with her son and she's pissed...

I try to get to the bottom of it and ask whats wrong and the lady blows up on me because i sold her whole family camera phones and this morning she finds out that her son has a video of his 17 year old girlfriend giving him a bj.

Ofcourse she believed that it wasnt my fault (After I explained that it wasnt) but apparently she had been on the phone with the girl's mom all morning and was pissed about it. After a while she decided that the best solution would be to buy him a non-camera phone at retail price so that the young lovers would no longer be tempted to do anything like this again.

I wonder if that will work

for kioskhell and anyone else who cares...

... I saw a professor (i think he's with the physics dept at my college) roll into class on those roller shoes... seriously, he's a stereotypical prof type, flooding pants, big, askew glasses, brown tie, black shoes, etc... and i saw him zip around the corner of the hall and into his classroom... had i been drinking i would have comically spit out my drink...
