Need help testing the site!

I just refreshed the site with some new code. It may not look very different, (in fact I hope it doesn't - that's the idea,) but a large portion of the HTML that controls the layout of each page has been completely re-written.

I did some testing, but I was under a tight deadline, so I wasn't able to test as much as I wanted to.

Therefore, please keep your eyes peeled for any glitches with the layout of the site. If you see any, please let me know ASAP. To do that, PLEASE go to the gray "Contact Us" link on the left, and click "I'd like to report a technical problem with this web site." When you contact us that way, info about what browser you're using (which is really critical in this case) is automatically attached.

The only...

Rich: Remote Server Failed to Respond/Server Timeout

Lately I've been getting these errors when i use IE 7 (shudder), FireFox 2.xx, and Opera. These errors dont seem to occur when I use Opera Mobile, Pocket IE or IE 6 (work).

The server timeout always occurs while waiting for phonescoop.com but the remote server failed to respond always lists rev.phonescoop.com. Wish I could give you more info but that's all I have for you!

And yes, I know I use too many browsers!!!

Canada Forum

I just wanted to question whether Phone-Scoop really needs a Canada Forum... Canada is one country. There are people here from different countries from all over the world.

I looked at the activity on the Canada forum to find that there really isn't much activity.

My suggestion is that the Canada forum be removed.

I saw the character counter when I posted under the Contact Us. Are you going to add it to the forum messages as well!?!?!?

Phone finder suggestion

It would be helpful (maybe not for all but some) so offer bluetooth profiles in the weighted section of the phone finder.

For example, I'm trying to find all VZW phones that offer A2DP, but I can't filter it that way so I have to go through each bluetooth capable phones (which is ALOT) and check them individually.

New Phone Scoop Forums!!

Please, Phone Scoop, can you change these forums!? They are terrible! Not the content of the forums, that is great, just the way they (the forums) are set up. I don't know if you guys developed this format, and I don't mean to put you down for it, but it is absolutely terrible! If I'm reading a thread, and someone replies to the thread, I should just be able to scroll down the page and see everyones response, (I'm not sure if there is a specific name for this type of forum, so hopefully I explained it well enough) I shouldn't have to click on the top message and go back, just to click on one response, and do it all over again. I know I sound like an angry wireless customer and I apologize. Trust me, I know how it is. I just find these forums...

Lines through everything

When I come to this forum it has lines going through all the words but when I click on a certain thread it's normal. Going back to the main phonescoop forum page, lines again. This happens on occassion with certain threads and posts. Is it my server or a glitch with the site?

Rich--Phonescoop and Pocket IE

I love the new look--at least when I can see it on my PC!

The new look has done some very interesting things with my Pocket PC. It's all water under the bridge however. I have learned that some web pages just don't render correctly in the Pocket IE environment.

I was wondering if you have plans to make a mobi version of phonescoop and if so, would the forums fall into such a version? I mainly ask because quite a few access phonescoop via mobile browsers (not sure on an exact figure) and the forums load VERY slow and behave strangely on them. If you don't I completely understand because of the nature of the mobile browser environment!

I am part of the Skyfire Beta 1 (supposedly, I still have yet to receive my download link) an...

Searching User's Messages - Bug Report

Searching a user's messages appears to have a bug when exploring multiple pages.

How to replicate:

1. Click on Rich Brome's name to access profile.

2. Click on Forum Messages.

3. Search for the term 'phone' using the search box.

4. Notice Page 1 of results all contain Rich Brome entries. The searching options at the top include the new "searching" options.

5. Click on page 2.

6. Results are no longer limited to Rich Brome. The searching options at the top of the page no longer include the new "searching" option.

Thanks for the new feature btw too.

*77 (important)

I knew about the red light on cars, but not the *77. It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.

Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called *77 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop

behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't,...

New idea.

I know you've got a laundry list of improvements to make to the sight but I'd like to offer a suggestion that (as far as I've seen) hasn't been done yet.

On the list of recent posts from a specific user (or just when viewing your own posts) add a little box (right justified) under that post with the following reply (assuming there is one) or maybe even a counter that tells you how many replies to that message there is.

It may not be on the top of the list, or even worth the time it would probably take but I figured I'd toss it out there.

What is the hearing aid compatibility for BB 8330 Curve?

Im hearing impaired and reviewing the specs for the 8330 Curve which is a cdma band type but does not have the spec for hearing aid compatibility I see on other reviews ie: the 8830 World Phone has a M4 and T4 rating for hearing aids but wondering if the Curve is the same?

Thanks

GRR! SAFARI!

Another reason why Safari sucks:

Every once in a while the browser degrades my phonescoop experience! 😲 đŸ˜ŗ It just randomly STOPS loading, rendering, or connecting to phonescoop for no apparent reason. I'm picking up wifi, so I used to think it was intermittent connection. Not so. Firefox picks up with no problem.

What is it with Safari that is causing this frustration? Probably has osmething to do with wifi going in and out...

I stopped using it altogether but my wife keeps using it and WON'T use firefox. She says she doesn't like it, for no discernible reason at all 🙄

Possible Phonescoop Copyright Infringement

I hate to link to the site in question (index ranking reasons) but thought pointing it out publicly would be more fun instead of emailing it you. 😈

It appears the user rickyhansen5 has been plagiarizing Phonescoop news articles on his website.

Here a few I found offhand, the copy will be followed by the original.
