You do realize that dropped calls will occur with EVERY service provider right?? This_guy was simply saying that Verizon has the least dropped calls & the most successful connections consistenly year after year. That's because Verizon owns, operates and maintains all of its towers. Sprint on the other hand leases its towers from other providers/companies. Meaning, network upgrades occur whenever the other companies feel like it, and network repairs have to be coordinated through third ...

2.2 Update.....now no signal!
Sep 22, 2010, 11:19 PM
in the Motorola Droid X forum

I updated to 2.2 early this afternoon, and phone worked fine all throughout the day until I got home. Now I have no signal in my apartment when I used to have at least 2 bars. Text's won't send, can't make calls, etc. I've done soft/hard reset but no good, tried *228 option 2, no good. Anyone else having issues with the 2.2 update?

Anyone get the software update?

Just wondering if anyone got the software update and if so, how's it working so far? No one in my area got it yesterday. :(

Re: Phone Heating
Jul 20, 2010, 1:32 PM
in the Motorola Droid X forum

Yes it's normal for it to get warm after long periods of use. It should never get "hot", like hot to the point you can't actually hold it anymore but warm is ok. If you feel it's getting too warm, set the phone down for a few minutes. If it cools off back to normal, then there's no issue. If it's still really warm after 10 mins or so of non use, you may want ...

Re: Had a Dare Too

Thanks for the info Matt. We went from a 3-inch screen to a 4.3 inch screen, the screen is actually bigger than then entire Dare was (full phone measurement) :o I have been playing around with it way too much (mostly been trying to get the 7 home screens setup just the way I want and browsing through the Android market...lol). At the end of the day, I have about 20% to 30% power left, which you ...

Battery and Charging Question
Jul 18, 2010, 8:47 AM
in the Motorola Droid X forum

This is my first smartphone so I apologize for not knowing this. I usually turn my phone on about 930a or 10a and not off until midnight or 1am. Should the battery be completely drained at the end of the day? My Dare was able to go 3 days without needing a charge but not my X so far. Granted I do use it some more than the Dare but nothing drastic. When I check where ...

The Market Is Saturated....

According to the US Census, the current population in the United States is 309, 121, 117 (for all intents and purposes we'll simply say 309.1 million people). Here's how many people are with the cell phone companies (in millions): VERIZON = 92.8 AT&T = 87 T-MOBILE = 35 SPRINT = 50 CRICKET = 4.5 US CELLULAR = 6.1 BOOST = 6 VIRGIN = Unknown If you add all the subscribers, you get approximately 281.4 million. 309.1 minus 281.4 equals 27.7 million US residents who do ...

Re: CDMA iPhone may finally ship on Verizon in summer 2010
Jan 10, 2010, 1:55 AM
in the Verizon forum

Initially I seriously doubted that Verizon would get a 3G version of the IPHONE with LTE right around the corner, but now I'm not sure. I personally don't see the point of investing time, money, etc in technology that's going to be replaced in less than 1-2 years (starting this year) but then again I'm not running the show. A great marketing move I think would be if Verizon got the IPHONE but introduced it as the ...

Why doesn't the FCC look into the manufacturer's??
Jan 10, 2010, 1:48 AM
in the Article: FCC Wants A Better Explanation from Verizon On ETFs forum

If I were the FCC, I'd be looking into why those "advanced devices" cost so much money. $599.99 full retail for a Droid?? Same for a Blackberry Storm 2. I find it difficult to believe that a mass produced item such as mentioned actually costs that much. If a phone comes out with a completely new technology that's never been seen before, then I could see raising the price up initially (like dvd players, blu ...

Wow. You really are an idiot. Verizon Wireless rated #1 in customer satisfaction but yet they hate their customers. Maybe you should apply at AT&T as Luke Wilson's sidekick and you can hate Verizon Wireless together (and both be out of work has-beens)

jvp3 said: Explain it so that even a 5 year old can understand. You know, because that's who works for us in Washington. Five year olds. I love this post, it's great. :D And very true. Maybe if Verizon added colorful pictures and pop-ups, people would understand it even better. It basically comes down to this.....read the contract. If you like it, sign the stupid thing and deal with any consequences. If you ...

Re: Good!
Jan 10, 2010, 1:33 AM

You want someone to stick it to?? How about the greedy consumer. I've read hundreds of posts where people added lines taking advantage of the bogo offers, then disconnected and sold the phones only to make a sizeable profit. And there's also that fun word, inflation! This was a smart move by Verizon and like another poster said, if you don't like the contract, don't sign the damn thing!!! :o

Re: Contract Return and Reset
Dec 31, 2009, 4:21 PM
in the Verizon forum

If you return this second phone and go back to your old phone, your contract end date will be reset but your upgrade date will not. You will not be able to upgrade at discounted pricing on that number again for at least 20 months. So again, your contract will reset back to the original date but your new every two and upgrade date will not. Sorry your new phones didn't work out for you.

Dec 31, 2009, 4:13 PM

Sprint is doubling it's regulatory fees and AT&T mysteriously stopped selling the IPhone in New York City (I've found out they've since resumed sales) and not so much as a peep out of the good 'ole FCC or Mignon Clyburn. Maybe it's because she's too busy. I've heard that she is currently writing a letter to a local grocery store near her asking them to explain why they increased their price of pork this week! ...

My, aren't we living in a big brother is watching and wants an explanation for everything you're doing environment! I am in complete agreement raising the etf from $175 to $350 on advanced devices. These phone are not cheap, some retail for $599! Cell sites, are not cheap. Google estimates it cost approximately $1 million for every new cell site & then approximately $10k to $20k a year in maintenance. I don't have ...

Re: Does this make it official?
Sep 14, 2009, 11:55 AM

I think that Verizon Wireless is a very smart company in terms of how it handles their equipment lineup. They know that data use is growing rapidly and thankfully have the foresight to spend 6.6 billion (with a B)on their network every year to improve it, and to prepare it for the oncoming data wave. AT&T is a laughing stock because their network is getting absolutely destroyed by the iphone & all the apps. Sprints network, well ...

Customer interactions seem to be going better lately...
Jan 19, 2009, 9:38 PM

Customers are saying please and thank you more, they are asking for upgrades instead of demanding one or saying we owe them one, and they are more apologetic about getting behind on their bills. Maybe it's because the holidays are over! lol Whatever it is, I appreciate it! And I hope other employees are seeing the same thing. :D

BT Stereo Headset
Jan 19, 2009, 9:17 PM
in the LG Dare VX-9700 forum

I use my Sony BT stereo to listen to music and also (sometimes) for call taking on my Dare. The headset works great on both. What I can't figure out how to do though is use my stereo headset when I am listening to videos (youtube for example) on Mobile Web. The sound will not play through the headphones (neither mono or stereo), it plays through the speaker on the back or it will play through ...

Is the iPhone 3G really worth........
Aug 2, 2008, 12:02 AM

Today I spoke with a customer who wanted to get his account number. I asked why he needed that and he stated he was taking his numbers (5) to AT&T. When I asked why, he said he desperately wanted the iPhone and that our LG Dare was quote "garbage". I explained that he was under contract on all lines, and that ETF's would total $725 ($145 per line), then reminded him that the iPhone is $199 ...

ummmm, no. This is a case of being treated fairly and getting the same discounts that those employees get. You're probably one of those ex-customers who hates vzw because we wouldn't credit you the $400 in get it now purchases that your stupid kid downloaded, go troll somewhere else.

cwcanty said: Also, with the discounts on service, only the people who work in the wireless dept get those discounts. Thats maybe 3-5 people. The average number of people that work in a verizon corporate store is prolly 12-15. Once again, increasing the financial burden for Best Buy. Chris That's not correct. ANY Best Buy or Circuit City employee gets a discount with Verizon Wireless, regardless of department. And no, it wouldn't financially kill Best Buy or ...

Why don't VZW employees get discounts at Best Buy?
Mar 5, 2008, 12:58 AM
in the Verizon forum

I went into a Best Buy store, made my purchase and showed my employee badge to get a discount (figuring that since Best Buy emp's get a discount on our service, I would get something on their's) well the clerk said she couldn't take my badge and then the manager said we (vzw emps) don't get any discounts with Best Buy! WTF?! I then researched and found that vzw emps don't get any discounts with ...

No longer able to send ringtones to phone, help!

I've had my Lg 8300 for a little over a year and up until about 2 mo's ago, never had a problem sending ringtones to my phone thru the vzwpix way (file no longer than 30 seconds, file no bigger than 400kb and in mp3 format)Now when I send the file, it never makes it to my phone. :( Anyone else having this problem? If anyone has found a work-around for this, please let me know!

Vcast Music Question
Aug 1, 2007, 10:44 PM
in the Verizon forum

I have tried every possible avenue to get this question answered but haven't had any luck, so I'm trying here. I have an lg 8300 with 1gb micro sd card. It plays music fine, but it will not play one song. Vcast music doesn't even recognize it's there, even though in the phones memory it shows the song. I have removed the song, ripped another copy of it, and it still doesn't show the song. ...

Help with Motorola Stereo BT Headphones
Jun 1, 2007, 5:38 PM
in the Verizon forum

I just got my stereo headphones today and I am having a problem with them already (typical of motorola products lately) I have an LG 8300 (current s/w ver) and I easily paired the headset with the phone. While listening to music thru the headphones, my audio skips and this happens on every song. I have listened to the songs thru a regular wired headset and they play perfectly fine. I have not tried the headset ...

you have to take all the songs off the card, delete all the file folders on the card, then put the card back into the phone for it to re-add the folders, then put your songs back into the my music folder that the phone creates. i had to do the same thing when moving my card from my sa a950 to the chocolate. hope this helps.

Verizon Communications and Verizon Wireless, NOT THE SAME THING!!!
May 12, 2006, 12:26 AM

Verizon Communications: this would be your landline provider. Basic definition of landline: the phone in your home/office that has a wire attached to one end and the other end of the wire attaches to the wall. the distance you can travel with this phone is limited to the length of the wire. :( Verizon Wireless: your wireless provider. This phone can also be used in your home/office but can also be used miles ...

Re: New Music Phones Have Crippled MP3?
May 3, 2006, 12:48 AM
in the Verizon forum

no, the files would be converted to .wma when you sync them from your computer to the phone. your music will still play, but it will play in .wma format because that's the phone and memory card support. it's rumored that verizon will allow the use of the mp3 format, but probably not this year.

Re: Anybody know about a new cell tower?
May 3, 2006, 12:45 AM
in the Verizon forum

usually information about where new cell towers are being put up is kept confidential. a tower was recently put up in my area and no one had any advance notice. as for the extended service, verizon likely can't get a license to sell service in your area, so it has to rely on other carriers (such as alltel which it uses in several other areas).

Thanks for the info Mary. About question #1, my phone sometimes actually does turn on completely when I plug it into the charger. No one at Verizon seems to know why, so I guess I could try Samsung. Does this phone work with stereo bluetooth headphones? After reading the articles in the links you provided, I don't think so.
