Is it normal for the back of the phone to warm up while going back in forth between internet, texting and running some apps?

Warm..sure. The more you give the processor to do, the hotter it will get (just like in a pc or laptop). I haven't noticed it, but most phones do get warm. If it starts to get downright hot, I'd have it checked out.

Yes it's normal for it to get warm after long periods of use. It should never get "hot", like hot to the point you can't actually hold it anymore but warm is ok. If you feel it's getting too warm, set the phone down for a few minutes. If it cools off back to normal, then there's no issue. If it's still really warm after 10 mins or so of non use, you may want to have it checked out.
