You say that now, but the AI singularity is just around the bend. I guess it won't be 'that big of a deal' until we all become robot sandwiches.

You can. Be aware that you will be able to SMS/Talk just fine. EDGE data speeds should be capable once you set up your phone's APN settings, also be aware prepaid plans do not allow for Blackberry services. Things that work through blackberry like the blackberry email client and BBM will not work. Once configured properly, you should have a WAP browser icon that will show up on your phone. The WAP browser, normally labeled 'Web2Go' , 'T-zones' , or 'WAP' will ...

Inconsistant information?
Dec 12, 2010, 12:46 PM
in the LG Sentio GS505 forum

I've read differing reports of which frequencies this phone is equipped with. The specs on this page indicate that it is dual band, (850///1900 MHz), but can anyone confirm 1800 and 900? I've noticed that T-mobile's support site indicate that it is quad band, and I've read that the radio is listed as quad band on the manufacturer site. I'm just posting as I know a lot of people use this site as a core source of information.

What's not impressive? If you're referring to the processor speed, don't worry about it. You'll notice much more of a performance increase from HSPA+ than a 1 ghz processor.

in the Article: Apple Bows to Developer Complaints forum

I've noticed a trend with 'news' articles using some odd wording showing a bit of bias. I can understand the urge to write something sensational, but please, a title like 'Apple Bows to Developer Complaints' belongs more in a tech blog than it does a news site. Maybe even the forums would be more appropriate.

Are we really thinking that the chinese military is going to take over the cellular industry in the states by organizing a sale of networking equipment? A little paranoid. Really. There are plenty of companies that have done business with questionable people overseas. Shoot, remember that whole business with the Saudis and Bushs' a few years back? What I really don't get is what is the big worry. Send over some networking equipment that's going to turn on us? Maybe send over ...

in the Article: Lobbyists Looking to Mandate FM Radios in Cell Phones forum

This is just another greedy move from the music industry. Theres no way they can 'mandate' cellphone manufacturers to include an FM radio in their devices, this is just a 'Hey guys, I'm still here and I have lawyers' sort of thing the music industry always does. The insane thing, is why move backwards? In 2010 we have cellphones with web connections up to and over 3mbs. Why can't we be streaming internet radio? Why don't we push towards emerging technology, ...

in the Article: T-Mobile Hit with Lawsuit Over 'Unlimited' Data Plan forum

I'm just going to take a salesperson's word for it, and claim no responsibility with my own decision making. This is insane, what do people expect for 20-30 bucks a month? A reasonable amount of usage is provided for the handsets to use all the data they like, and people who tether should understand that their T&C's actually prohibit it. (Look it up) Believe this, the 'unlimited' plan is going to be tiered on every network if this joker somehow wins. The ...

in the Article: Opera Mini Bumped to Version 5.1 for Low-End Phones forum

I've been rolling with a BB 8330 for wayyy too long and have been using Opera the whole time. When they updated to 5, it ran awful. The layout seems to favor touch screen devices, and it ran super slow. I'm sure the browser is great, it was just far too much a match for an old 8330 curve. I'm hoping this is better for it, but I don't want to go through the upgrade just to uninstall it and reinstall ...

Jul 1, 2010, 2:35 PM
in the Article: T-Mobile Discontinuing Sidekick Sales Starting July 2 forum

Strange the article says T-mobile lost consumer information. They didn't. Its well known to be on the danger servers. T-mobile just connected point a-b. Either way, I would bet any one of you there will be a new sidekick phone in the future. Its been a somewhat iconic device and has (read had) a really good following. I'm sure that there will be a new device that has the same design, but isn't so reliant on a 'cloud'.

It actually is pretty nice. No, its not a smartphone. If you are looking for a device that has a 10$/mo web feature, and has a touch screen, its great. Take an opportunity to play with it. Its actually a pretty fun device, and has what I would call an 'Android Inspired' interface. I wouldn't want one because I need smartphone features, but its perfect if you don't.

I know RIM was having a 'graduate to a blackberry' event, where you would send in your old phone, they would recycle it, and give you a check for like fifty dollars with a reciept for the purchase of a blackberry. Don't know if its still going on now or not.

The single biggest source of refurbished phones is from refunded phones. If a phone is returned to the store, it can't just be resold, it has to get reflashed and possibly repaired. I can imagine alot of iphones were bought by people who didn't understand that they needed the data plan, or perhaps it was just too much phone for them or something.
