You say that now, but the AI singularity is just around the bend.
I guess it won't be 'that big of a deal' until we all become robot sandwiches.
Re: TMOBILE offers
Just wait. It's all through the same insurer.
;)
Re: alltel?
From what I understand, alltel still exists in some rural regions.
Re: T-mobile question
You can.
Be aware that you will be able to SMS/Talk just fine.
EDGE data speeds should be capable once you set up your phone's APN settings, also be aware prepaid plans do not allow for Blackberry services. Things that work through blackberry like the blackberry email client and BBM will not work.
Once configured properly, you should have a WAP browser icon that will show up on your phone. The WAP browser, normally labeled 'Web2Go' , 'T-zones' , or 'WAP' will ...
Re: Anyone with this phone?
I regularly get 3-3.5 mbps.
Not too bad. :)
The internet is not a big truck
Its a series of tubes!!
Re: 5G
Really, if they provide 100 mbps, I wouldn't care if they called it edge.
Re: Inconsistant information?

For the manufacturer site.
Inconsistant information?
I've read differing reports of which frequencies this phone is equipped with.
The specs on this page indicate that it is dual band, (850///1900 MHz), but can anyone confirm 1800 and 900?
I've noticed that T-mobile's support site indicate that it is quad band, and I've read that the radio is listed as quad band on the manufacturer site.
I'm just posting as I know a lot of people use this site as a core source of information.
Re: This is going to be google's new baby.
What's not impressive?
If you're referring to the processor speed, don't worry about it.
You'll notice much more of a performance increase from HSPA+ than a 1 ghz processor.
Bias?
I've noticed a trend with 'news' articles using some odd wording showing a bit of bias.
I can understand the urge to write something sensational, but please, a title like 'Apple Bows to Developer Complaints' belongs more in a tech blog than it does a news site. Maybe even the forums would be more appropriate.
Where are the little green men?
Are we really thinking that the chinese military is going to take over the cellular industry in the states by organizing a sale of networking equipment?
A little paranoid. Really.
There are plenty of companies that have done business with questionable people overseas. Shoot, remember that whole business with the Saudis and Bushs' a few years back?
What I really don't get is what is the big worry. Send over some networking equipment that's going to turn on us? Maybe send over ...
Its not really happening.
This is just another greedy move from the music industry.
Theres no way they can 'mandate' cellphone manufacturers to include an FM radio in their devices, this is just a 'Hey guys, I'm still here and I have lawyers' sort of thing the music industry always does.
The insane thing, is why move backwards? In 2010 we have cellphones with web connections up to and over 3mbs. Why can't we be streaming internet radio? Why don't we push towards emerging technology, ...
Hmmm... next time I buy something...
I'm just going to take a salesperson's word for it, and claim no responsibility with my own decision making.
This is insane, what do people expect for 20-30 bucks a month? A reasonable amount of usage is provided for the handsets to use all the data they like, and people who tether should understand that their T&C's actually prohibit it. (Look it up)
Believe this, the 'unlimited' plan is going to be tiered on every network if this joker somehow wins.
The ...
I wonder what it will be...
Bet its the american version of the MOTOROI that had an article a few weeks ago.
https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php? n=6268
Anyone try it yet?
I've been rolling with a BB 8330 for wayyy too long and have been using Opera the whole time.
When they updated to 5, it ran awful. The layout seems to favor touch screen devices, and it ran super slow.
I'm sure the browser is great, it was just far too much a match for an old 8330 curve. I'm hoping this is better for it, but I don't want to go through the upgrade just to uninstall it and reinstall ...
Re: T-Slowble ?
Did you read the article or are you just trying to find a place to complain about t-mobile?
Odd wording... but its not the end.
Strange the article says T-mobile lost consumer information.
They didn't. Its well known to be on the danger servers. T-mobile just connected point a-b.
Either way, I would bet any one of you there will be a new sidekick phone in the future. Its been a somewhat iconic device and has (read had) a really good following.
I'm sure that there will be a new device that has the same design, but isn't so reliant on a 'cloud'.
Re: Nice!
It actually is pretty nice.
No, its not a smartphone.
If you are looking for a device that has a 10$/mo web feature, and has a touch screen, its great.
Take an opportunity to play with it. Its actually a pretty fun device, and has what I would call an 'Android Inspired' interface.
I wouldn't want one because I need smartphone features, but its perfect if you don't.
Re: Cross Between...
Me too.
Was just expecting 'more'.
I mean, it doesn't seem like a bad phone, but T-mobile has a reputation of pushing the envelope with their branded handset, and just doesn't feel like a step forward.
Re: funny...
Are you being ironic, or do you not know what you are talking about?
Prepaid has long been a ridiculously over-marked product. Congrats to Sprint being a forerunner.
Sounds like you are probably an ever popular Sprint basher... just wait, your company will match their rate in a few weeks. When they do, I wonder if you still call it 'white trash', or if by some stroke of luck you make it through charm school, maybe learn a better way to ...
Re: WoW Microsoft, thats big news.
T-mo doesn't! :)
Re: PRICES
He's right.
Seriously take a look around- Shops that sell cellphone batteries usually have like 80-90% gross margin on them.... You do the math.
Re: Lock/Unlock Keypad
Grr.
I meant to type MUTE not MUST.
Re: Lock/Unlock Keypad
Yes. Hold down on the mute button for a second.
Then to release it, press the mute button.
If you aren't familiar, the must button is all the way on the top of the device.
Re: just curious...
Nah, I hear Chad already invested in a pair of horn rimmed glasses.
Odd?
These kind of sales are common periodically.
I find it odd to find this on the front page.
Re: GOT IT
Anyone have a problem with data1.cab being missing or corrupted?
Re: What a joke!
Yeah, but what representitive or senator would nix this?
Can you imagine the election time ads?
'Reperesentitive whoever wants to take away senior citizen's TV's'
And also coming soon in the future....
Flying Cars!
Cars that drive themselves!
Starships!
Small Pills that you can eat one of, and it takes the place of an entire meal!
Time Machines!
Starcraft2!
:D
chad will be just fine.
He'll still be around, he'll just have to invest in a pair of horn rimmed glasses. :D
Help me Obi Won, you are my only hope.
Mwahahahaha.
R2D2 has one of these things.
I love it!!!!
Re: Incompetent!
I'm not really for instant pornography access to the masses, but the government has zero right to control internet access.
It would be like living in Egypt, Syria, Iran, etc.
Re: Blackberry Curve 8330 - For Verizon
I know RIM was having a 'graduate to a blackberry' event, where you would send in your old phone, they would recycle it, and give you a check for like fifty dollars with a reciept for the purchase of a blackberry.
Don't know if its still going on now or not.
Re: Several questions...
The single biggest source of refurbished phones is from refunded phones.
If a phone is returned to the store, it can't just be resold, it has to get reflashed and possibly repaired.
I can imagine alot of iphones were bought by people who didn't understand that they needed the data plan, or perhaps it was just too much phone for them or something.
Re: Thank Goodness!!
Not only that, you get to pay more for that same phone than a new customer would!
Better than the M300?
I know the people on these forums tend to not care about these basic phones, but I know alot of us work in the sales side of this industry.
The M300 was a disaster, how much better is this one?
Re: Audio Question
A trick I use is to cup my hand by the speaker so the sound will bounce off my hand, and back to me.
Might not be perfect, but definately makes TV more watchable.
Re: So....
Maybe...
The funny thing is that all these studies leave no answer for the danger over the course of a lifetime. Its just kind of swept under the rug.
Especially since the really young and really old are using cellphones more than ever, it has to be a legitimate concern.

Blackberries tend to act a little funny when they can't contact the BIS.
