I have people on Boost, Metro PCS, Straight Talk, yada yada yada come in every day and switch over to my company (a small statewide carrier that has a really good PIA option). Why? Because even though what we offer sucks (outside of our 2G coverage being pretty darn good) it is still better than the refill card pre-paid guys, and way cheaper than AT&T and Verizon's pre-paid options. Also, a $30 pre-paid is a $30 phone... not ...

Firstly, you don't get full access to the network with any of those prepaid options. No prepaid service gives you full access to the same network a contract customer gets. You miss out on roaming agreement areas, you have throttled data, and you have (especially with CDMA) limited phone options that tend to be way worse or very expensive.

And techcrunch isn't citing anything specific, only 1 unnamed "source" and they don't make any claim as to who/what they are a source of overall... however, BGR points out their sources are referring to industry wide. Plus, these companies are publicly traded and report these figures to stock holders and the FCC. Clearly, there is a huge chasm between what is being reported (BGR figures and others) and what 1 online publication, that is possibly going to ...

http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/28/40-of-android-p hones-are-returned-absolutely-ridiculous/ I bet they have better sources than you. And yes, I get to see company wide return rates. I am on the phone selection committee for my company, and am the vice chair of it. And maybe you are not paying attention to reality, because, as the article says: "To think that 40% of many Android handsets are returned across the board, however, is crazy." (BGR)

And this was debunked and proven false. You don't have connections with the industry more so than any of us (some of us actually are privy to return rates inside our company, BTW, and those numbers are way out of line). Also, if return rates were that high for Android devices, nobody would be making them nor would they be turning out record profits. They would be bankrupt for return rates at those levels. Also, every manufacturer would be ...

More like anyone that has been in the industry long enough and is sick and tired of people thinking if they whine and through a big enough temper tantrum they will get whatever they want. We come to work, try our best to help the customers make the right decision, and what we get in return is being pissed on, called every name in the book, and threatened with physical harm. Nobody can figure out what the heck they are even talking about, BTW, since it is 100% open source. What they might be talking about is that Honeycomb hasn't been fully released yet to the public, but will be in due time. Every manufacturer ...

It will still be free and open source with the same terms and agreements for licensing it. This is mostly a move, IMHO, to strengthen Android against lawsuits, as well it is an area Google can make even more money. But they have said the two companies, Motorola and Google/Android will be separate from one another.

to strengthen the Android patent portfolio and defense. I did not see Motorola coming by a long shot. I suspected they would go after smaller companies, likely hardware component manufacturers and designers, but not an entire mobile phone company like Motorola. Heck, if I had been forced to bet on which company I thought they would buy, from the mobile phone producers, it would have been Sony Ericsson or HTC, not Motorola. As for future implications; I think this ...

Deutsche Telecom wants out because T-Mobile USA is losing money big time. The geographical vastness of the US cost a lot of money to build a network across, and to pay for it you need a lot more customers at higher rates than what T-Mobile has and is charging. The business model has failed.

that is how much total charge the phone holds. It has nothig to do with it is ok for your phone or not. What matters is if the batter was made for you phone, and has the same voltage, amperage, connector design, firmware, etc.

As we are not insurance salesmen, they can't not require or encourage us to sell it. I know my company removed all insurance based commissions and quotas a couple years ago because the legal department decided it wasn't legal to do so, since none of us are insurance agents and there are laws that require certain training, certs, etc. type thing.

They do offer several good choices... but only 3, really... The Infuse, the Atrix and the Inspire. But all 3 of those are behind the curve compared to everyone else. If you read the article that started this, you would see that IS the point. The average rating of AT&T's non-iPhone smartphones is lower than their competitors by half a point. Why? it is a lack of quality alternatives. If you look at T-Mo, for example, they have the HTC G2, the LG G2X, and the HTC Sensation; all 3 of those don't have a counter part on AT&T, plus T-Mo has the Nexus S (7 months earlier) the HD7 (8 months earlier) the Captivate (a year old phone now)... They are the exact same as anyone else... You sign up for a 2yr contract, when that is done no more ETFs. You never sign another contract after the initial 2yr agreement on a belief plan, but you pay a premium every single month over the old plans... and once every 11 months to 2 years, you qualify for a phone at 2yr pricing, but don't have to resign your contract.

Ah, in that case, it is just like any other contract or whatever they want to call it. No different than any other carrier, if they are out of contract, there are no ETFs.
