Re: Finally......
Have you ever used the comparison system here on phonescoop? It's quite good.
Also, the X has a 4.3 inch screen, the Fascinate a 4.0. The X has an 8 MP camera, the Fascinate a 5.0MP. And you know what, side by side they are very different in size, looks and feel.
To the original poster, I'd read some of the reviews, both here and on Phonearena, visit a local store and play with them, and ...
Re: My 6th Palm Pre is already a refurb
It's called TEC (Total Equipment Coverage) and it is 7.99 for smartphones and 5.99 for Multimedia and Feature phones. If you are purchasing a CPO, full retail or are a new or upgrade transaction you can add it.
Re: WIFI CHARGER
Hey,
Have you seen the inductance chargers that the folks at Touchstone market? You know, for use in the Palm Pixie and Pre? No hard connection there. It takes longer as the energy transfer isn't as efficient, but look Mom, no wires!
Re: WIFI CHARGER
To Amarantamin: Did you ever take any classes in physics, or electricity? or anything? The typical cellphone charger supplies 5 volts at 300 milliamps. If you do the math, you'll see this is 1.5 watts of usage. What wattage is the incandescent light bulb typically? 60 or so.

The folks at Rca are working on a charger that will harvest the excess energy from wifi and possibly other EM emissions in the environment. Is this something that will work well in someone's home? Probably not, but in a busy urban environment, you might be able to get decent energy recovery.
Environmental issues
Exercise issues aside, having something like this available would cut down on unnecessary use of energy. There've been many articles talking about how much wasted electricity that the wallwarts use. Wouldn't this be a nice subtle way for the cell companies to go green?
I've had a selfwinding watch for a number of years and its done well for me. I was just thinking about something like this the other day built into dress shoes, but ...
Re: Sprint No Contracts Soon?!!!
I suppose it would be a full circle idea for them. When they started selling phones in 96-97, there were no contracts. It wasn't until about 2000 that they started doing business in the traditional manner. Most of you (and I don't say this in a pejorative sense) are too young to remember that Nynex Mobile and Cellular One also at one point had no contracts. About 1990 is when subsidized phones started really appearing ...
Re: You can't say we don't have cool phones
Not quite right.
The folks at MediaFlo are providing the tv service for both AT&T and VZW. They haven't built out their network yet. It is a completely different set of towers for this service. I think that with the different standards endorsed by the EU for tv phones, we may see the companies fall back a bit on this. I can see it being the stepchild that everyone isn't sure what to do ...
Re: Sprint's Curve delay
Where do you get your info from? Have you even read the forums? There are dozens of posts defending VZW being months behind Alltel and Sprint on getting phones out because they are "testing" the phones.
When you post numbers like this, feel free to footnote them with references. Unless you've worked for each of the companies, and are feeling good about releasing confidential information, your facts aren't, they are conjecture.
Re: Aircard comparison site?
I went looking at all the sites I know for reviews and such, nothing. It might something for one of the sites to specialize in. Heck if I could get advertising dollars, I'd do it.
If they are still available where you are, get the usb 720 from VZW. It seems to be the most troublefree of the cards. If it isn't go for the 727, the smaller, newer version of the 720. ...
Re: WiMax (VoIP circle)
Verizon I suspect. If you look at the V, it's angled, one side is longer than the other.
Anybody jump from VZW to AT&T?
Hey all,
I've just posted my resume to the nice folks at At&t corporate for a local store. Anyone make the jump from the big V to the big orange globe? Just curious. I'm hoping these folks call as quickly as the folks at VZW did two years ago.
Re: Why Rev A?
There is one rev a handset now and as we see more data intensive applications, I can imagine that we'll see more of them. The 6800 or mogul by sprint can be upgraded to rev a. Mostly the lte standard and evdo are for data exchange, so the standards committee wants to show the folks that are using it (aircards and some other telemetry applications) that they won't have to choose, or worry. To make the ...
Re: NPS poll
The other side of this is that V does listen to these comments. The ability to change price plans without affecting contract dates was one of the NPS comments most heard last year, so it happened. Also the revised lost/stolen no insurance program and a couple of others. Some of the customers do leave fairly bizarre comments and the reps that pimp themselves out get the highest scores (one of the worst reps in my area ...
Re: ? about using an unlocked phone.
Maybe I misunderstood the Sprint portion of the articles I read. I work for the big V so I know that side of it.
Re: ? about using an unlocked phone.
Both Verizon and Sprint announced that they are going to allow other devices on their networks. Basic voice functions from devices will be compatible from network to network. Extra functions like mobile web (vzw) or power vision (sprint) will not work. VZW has a special procedure for activating certain Sprint phones. I expect that Sprint corporate has a procedure hidden deep in the bowels of it help system.
Re: Bad Phones OR ANALOG!!!!
Sprint has never had analog towers and for the first year of its existence would not even sell a dual mode phone. They have had roaming agreements with Verizon/primeco/gte since 1997 to use VZW's analog network and since 1999 to use the cdma digital network in areas where their coverage suffered. VZW and AT&T finally got permission to shut down their older networks (it was supposed to happen 2006, but was delayed) on Monday at midnight. ...
Re: No More Payment Drop Offs
We are one of the few stores in our area with a drop off box (kiosk store). I can deal with the folks who drop off a payment during the off hours when we are closed, but the ones that drop it off during the day drive me nuts.
Re: FREE COUNTRY!
For most prepaid phones there are terms and conditions you agree to when you purchase and activate the phones. For most, these T and C's are something we blow by, like software licenses. But if you read into them, most say that this device will be used on so and so's network.
Remember that these phones are part of the company's business model and therefore are supposed to generate revenue for that company. Many companies ...
Re: I just don't understand....
You've hit it right on the head. By having a good idea of the ARPU, the company can project growth, capital outlays and of course revenue for the stock holders.
All the other carriers also allow folks to opt out, if the change is a severe hardship to the consumer. I'm not sure about the wording, but I remember talking to a customer about it last year when we all went from 10 to 15 cents. ...
Re: okay.. honestly..
About the only thing I've seen in our area (upstate NY) is a focus to the spanish speaking reps. I've scheduled myself to take a language course to make sure I'm not losing opportunities. It's been more than a quarter century since high school spanish for me, and all I remember are numbers. Except not when I should, I recently told one of our customers that texting was going from quince to cincuenta cents per message ...
Re: WiMax Dead???
Verizon got some bad press for "limiting" the unlimited plan a few months back, though the same limits are present for both Sprint and AT&T. Unfortunately for all the companies, this info is buried deeply within the user agreement for the data plans.
The user is limited to 5GB of bandwidth per month, but can access the network 24/7. 5GB is a reasonable amount if you aren't streaming video. It is the ...
