My 6th Palm Pre is already a refurb

Don't think I'll notice the difference if I were to buy a refurb phone. Sprint keeps sending me refurb replacements for my Pre and as long as you have TEP on your plan you are safe with whatever phone you get if it breaks. Hell my last 5 phones were all refurbs! All Pre's. 🙄

Dont give wrong or incomplete information, There is No Deductible if there is no physical damage or water damage to the phone. (Lost or Stolen also is a given) Customer has to go to a repair center or speak with advanced exchange department (tech).

It's called TEC (Total Equipment Coverage) and it is 7.99 for smartphones and 5.99 for Multimedia and Feature phones. If you are purchasing a CPO, full retail or are a new or upgrade transaction you can add it.

In my experience those kinds of things are at the discretion of the person you are talking to, call customer care, explain the situation clearly, BE NICE (can't stress that enough) and often they will bend over backwards to help you out, call them, begin screaming and yelling, be insulting and threatening and in general just act like a jerk, and they will likely tell you to buzz off.

if you are wanting a different make and model you can end up spending a lot of your time on the phone depending on who you keep getting (the lucky ones only have to spend 10 minutes or so if they got a halfway decent representative). don't call regular customer service either since they don't handle warranty/insurance issues. just contact the proper department and if the first rep says no ask for a supervisor and if they say no ask for someone above them no matter what they say.

don't take no for an answer. just don't get upset and start yelling and generally being irate either because that gives them a reason to hang up on you for abusing them -- contrary to popular belief you may think reps are peons but they do not have to listen to y...

The "Limon Law" only applies to phones that you pay the deductible on (which is done by a 3rd party...use to be Lockline but I think it changed) and its if you receive three in a row that do not work. If you are going into a Service Center and having the phone fixed or swapped out at no coast they will just keep giving you the same model unless they no longer carry it...I'm on my 7th Pre!

that's not true as the three in a row policy that i know of is due to warranty exchanges. i cannot speak for the service centers but i do know about doing exchanges over the phone through warranty. you weren't persistent enough. warranty will do the exchange but like i said it depends on how difficult the rep you happen to be speaking to plans to be. i have had to call warranty on behalf of the customer many times so i do know they will do it. like i said it is all about profit and loss. if you keep having to call them about the same issue and escalating it, it would cost the company less to just exchange the phone than it would to keep having you call in. it is within the rep's discretion to exchange for a different make/model comparable to...

Its not a sprint policy, its what your talking about is the WELL Policy, and it has to be 3 handsets within a certain time frame and its not always guaranteed a different models, some phones are not included in the wellness policy, such as blackberry's, touch pros, and pre's. Those phones will keep getting replaced with same model unless you find someone in sprint to break the policy. And when you are offered a swap its to what ever is considered compatible and is also refurbed generally.

No need for someone to break the policy. The list of compatible phones will show up right away after the 3rd exchange within 6 months. It's just up to the rep to see if he'll select it for you or not.

It's a management call. Its not an absolute rule. Its an option and every situation is unique. Allowing it to be a judgement call keeps the bums, bobos, and hustlers from getting a different device without upgrading or for legitimate reasons.

If you go into a repair center, they have a small budget of times per month management can over ride a different model, and it isnt the typical guy throwing a fit and wanting to cancel. Once they run out of that budget then theres not much they can do. In most cases they offer an early upgrade before the WEL violation and swapping different models.

Wow so many Pre's what could poss be wrong that you have had to have so many of them? That phone is reported to have the least probs in general of Sprint's smartphones. Mine is just about to arrive from Ebay its a refurbished one & I cant wait to get it my freind has the Pixi and he said web os is the best and easiest os to use and iv'e read mostly positive things abt the Pre to bad it didn't catch on more as planned mostly because of Android.

Don't get me wrong, I love WebOS I think its a great OS. I just had a lot of weird hardware issues. GPS never working, keys on the keyboard getting stuck and repeating constantly, sliding open keyboard would cause phone to reboot, and one replacement I got was not able to acquire any cellular signal. All the phones I've used have never been abused or used roughly. Just my luck I guess. My Blackberry I also have has been rock solid (just not a very pretty OS).
