My screen broke

After just one day of use the click screen on my Storm stopped responding. I can select items on the screen but I cannot activate them. When I push on the screen nothing happens.

I took it back but was told that the first run of phone had alot of issues and many had to be pulled from distribution so the stores got only a small fraction of the phones they should have. I cannot get a replacement until dec.20th at the earliest. That is bunk!!!

Room for both iPhone and Storm

I do not understand all the hate between the Storm and the iPhone users.

Yes, the storm is severely flawed right now, but it will hopefully be brought up to speed very soon. Once the software can be fixed it will be a pretty cool phone. As soon as the lagging, stalling, and locking up problems are taken care of it will be a cool Blackberry.

The large screen will make it the best Blackberry ever for watching video and surfing the web too. Will it be as good as iPhone for these things? No, of course not. It will not even be close to iPhone as far as multimedia use and web browsing. The iPhone is also no Blackberry when it comes to organization, document management, and business productivity. The iPhone is a snazzy set of threads for when...

Storm and Iphone

I have both! The Storm is a much much better phone overall! I have the Storm typing down to where I can type just as fast using sure type as well as landscape.

Lots of Iphone people just bashing this phone. Time will show this phone to be better.

My point my friends is don't get discouraged by the negative reviews. Over at Howards, you have many who have gone back on their initial impressions and are starting to realize the true strengths of the Storm.

Don't just read this post, buy a Storm and compare it yourself.

How are people giving this phone 4 and 5 star rating?????

Is this forum full of fanboys or what? Are people trying to be deliberately misleading? Are they brainwashed?

Even if new software was right around the corner, which it now appears it isn't, why would we find it acceptable? Would you buy a new car that stalled on you ever three miles and say "It is okay. I hear they are going to be fixing this problem sometime in the future"???

The same people giving + and - reviews

I have noticed that many of the people posting here also post on the iphone discussion page and post reviews of both phones. They seem to love one phone and hate the other. Either many people are lying about one phone or the other (pumping up the one they own and tearing down the one they do not) or there is a bunch of people with multiple carriers and phones. 🤨

Email Notification

I've read the posts on crackberry and the "manual," but I have yet to get an answer to this. When emails are received the phone makes an audible ring/sound. I was able to go into the profile and set it to vibrate, but I haven't been able to figure out how to end the audible sound (not good in meetings, etc.). Any one else figured this one out yet?

For everyone Worried/Complaining about LAG and DELAYS on the Storm should know

you should know that the review and launch units we launched with an older software version, 4.7.0.65 at the last minute due to the discovery of a security issue in RIM's already created and smooth working OS v 4.7.0.82.

That OS is the latest and was already working with much faster and smoother performance. RIM has said a free OTA software update (presumably the secure corrected 4.7.0.82) which should fix the issue.

Source:
the Verizon Storm was set to launch with an OS higher than 4.7.0.65. The boxes handed out at the Verizon media event on Tuesday in NYC (where all those reviewers picked theirs up) actually have stickers on them that show 4.7.0.82. Yet the devices were actually loaded with the .65 OS. Did you purchase a Storm toda...

Email Set-up

I'm trying to set up email accounts and I know it is supposed to give you options. However, the only option I have is an enterprise account. Any ideas?

Battery Life Question?

As of right now the battery life on my phone appears to be completely absurd I am not sure if it is because I am in a poor reception area right now. My phone is currently switching from 1x to 1XEV almost non stop. Could that be an issue? or does this batter life really suck on this phone.

I see others commenting on how good the battery is but I find it to last less than half the amount of time as my Curve did (also on VZW)

This or the IPhone?

Ok people, I have asked this question many times and I will ask again. I have been a Verizon customer for many years. I have had the LG-VX8000, Moto Q and it is time for a new phone. Do I get this phone or leave Verizon for ATT, just to get the IPhone 3G? I am heasitant to leave Verizon for ATT. My friends and family are on Verizon. Also, aren't the data plans more expensive for IPhone? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Storm Shipped Today

Just wanted to let everyone know that they are shipping the phone already. I went to the Verizon store on release day to get one, of course they were out of units, told me they only received 15 and sold out quickly. So I went ahead and told them to order me one. They told me that it would most likely ship on Tuesday 11/25. Because the store's systems were all down, the rep told me he could call me later to get my credit card info. When he called later that night, he told me that I was guaranteed to have the phone by December 5th, which I wasn't too happy to hear after what they told me in the store earlier. I was happy to get home from work tonight to find an email from Verizon saying that my phone shipped today, and the estimated delivery d...

Other big name phone launch mess ups

Three high profile ones come to mind for me recently:
1. The iphone
2. The G-1 "Google phone"
3. The Storm

All three were buggy phones or at the very least not up to their full potential when released. All have had lots of hype attached to them. All are complex phones.

I guess one of my points is that if you have to be the first in line for the latest and the greatest, there can be a price paid. Either wait for perfection or be the first on your block with the latest and coolest phone at the time.

Any more phone launch mess ups that you can think of???...the list is probably endless
