Before I give a review

Just got the phone today and love everything except the lag time any suggestions. Otherwise the phone is great but the lag time could present an issue with keeping this phone.

New To BB

I had the iPhone for 2 weeks and found out I simply need MMS. So I gots me the Storm today. This is my first BB device. I'm finding it a bit "clunkier" then the iPhone. Maybe I just need more time with it. I only got to play with the Storm for a little bit before she needed charging. Any ideas or suggestions that might help ease my transition to the Storm? Thanks!

P.S. Has anyone else noticed you can actually wiggle the entire screen?

wtf?????

👿

forgive me if i sound out of the loop on all this but I'm not as savy a phone person as most of you seem to be.
but.. last night i went with my girlfriend to t-mobile..{she has them} she needed something done to her phone so i tagged along cause i love to look at gadgets and mess with them. i was shocked that there were at least five phones that had a 3.2 mega pixel cam..and 2that had a FIVE MEGAPIXEL camera. so where are these for verizon? i know there are a few phones with the 3.2....but i know of none that have a higher resolution than that. can we expect to see a 5.0 camera phone or higher in the near future..anyone heard of anything.
just curious..???????????/

Verizon Store on Water St in NYC are a bunch of A$$'s

I called up the Water Street/WallStreet Store 2 days ago and asked them what time they would open today. They told me an hour earlier at 7am. So I decided to get up an hour and a half earlier (4am today) and got to the VZW store at 6:15. Waited in line for a half hour in freezing cold, then a manager came out and said that they are not going to open til 8am now. Freakin BS! I asked why they wouldn't let us in til 8, he said cause security reasons, we need to over see the customers so we dont get stampeded. Heck there were only 12 people in line. And we all work on Wall street. Ya think we will risk going to jail over a Blackberry???

Anyway he took our names down and promised we would be first to get em at 8am. So now I write this to you f...

Tested it today

I was in Verizon training today and have a couple of thoughts.

Pros:
Speaker phone is very loud
Click interface is nice
having CDMA and GSM is awsome
Screen resolution is the bomb

Cons:
user interface is very slow
user interface is sloppy
user interface is very slow
user interface is sloppy.

Overall I would give it 30 days before they fix these massive interface bugs but I will say that when it happens I might soon say that it will be the IPhone Killer. Good Luck Blackberry oh and PS your T-Mobile Flip is sleek but I would toss that sucker in a creek.
Indirect Rocks.

New Restocking Fee for phones within 30 day trial

Be careful because Verizon now charges a restocking fee if you return a cell phone within the 30 day trial period. I know everyone wants to try out the new Storm but be ready to pay if you decide to return it.

STORM AVAILABILITY!!!!

Just got off the phone with almost 5 stores in the phoenix area.

They said they are opening at 7AM and possibly 6AM if there is a line outside!

Only one store I talked to would tell me that they have 10 in stock none of the other stores would say.

Hope this info helps!

Texting

Can someone try this. Go to create an SMS Text by entering a phone number. When I tried this, it continually allowed me to enter the first number but then the keyboard would revert to the alpha keyboard. I would then have to hit the numeral key enter the next number and then it would once again revert to the alpha keyboard.

Just curious if this is a glitch. I just cannot believe this is the way it is set up.

Navigation via GPS and Itunes Music

After reading your review, you described that the navigation on Google Maps showed you were way off, as in miles, from your true location. When I tried to use Google maps on another Verizon Blackberry, it did the same thing. From what I can tell, it is using the triangulation method, reading your location from the cell towers, and not the GPS. For some reason, the phone is blocking Google Maps from accessing the GPS. I don't know if this is so you will pay for the Navigator service, or if there is a way to tie the GPS unit to the Google Maps software. So this isn't a bug as far as I can tell from your review. It is actually working fine in terms of finding your location through triangulation. Now the trick is to figure out how to access the ...

Question about international use

Does anyone know whether Verizon will unlock the Blackberry Storm so that it can be used with local SIM cards while traveling overseas? The Verizon website says that you need to call if you want a "global calling plan or global feature." I'm not sure whether this means that there is no present intent to unlock the phone or whether it merely means that you have to be preapproved to call overseas utilizing the phone due to the increased billing such use would generate.

Verizon only taking advanced orders online

I went to a Verizon store today before they opened but the line was too long, so I ordered the storm over the phone at 7:30 this morning and it will arrive tomorrow before 12:00 payed extra for Saturday shipping. Can't get it to make the click sound

I purchased the Storm today and since I have had it I cannot figure out how to get it to make the clicking sound when I type. I've looked in every menu in the phone (at least I think I have). Anybody know where to turn it on and off?

clicks on screen

the at&t tilt already has the clicks when you press the screen. it will also do it with the hardware buttons too, but you can turn both these off. i cant remember if it's on the at&t 8525 but i know it's it's on the tilt. so the blackberry storm isnt the first to have that as they are claiming.

I've got mine, and to answer my own question...

Yes, it really is that shoddy.

I haven't checked to update the firmware yet, and I've just now gotten time to mess with it.

The UI is slow and the touch scrolling is underwhelming. It's way more responsive than any other VZW touch screen phone (Dare, Voyager, Glyde), but even in scrolling through the main menu it is tedious and not very fun.

The UI also looks good in pictures but it's herky-jerky in person. The In-store display was just as bad, but I'd figured it had too many processes running or had a memory leak. NOPE.

My biggest gripe with the UI is though it is a solid UI with the thumb wheel or trackball, it is garbage with a touch screen. Anyone who has gotten a good case of Blackberry thumb is going to hate having to mov...
