Wait to review the Storm until AFTER the update!

Since the software update is up so soon, it would be prudent to rate the Storm AFTER the update, and once you have become familiar with the button interface.

this isn't a real touch screen phone!

how can you call this a touch screen phone when you still have to click a PHYSICAL button for anything to work? the iphone is truly a touch screen phone....

and how long till this screen button breaks from having to be used so freaking much?

thoughts?

Syncing with a Mac

So, Pocketmac doesn't have a Storm version. Blackberry won't make one. What are Mac owners to do? Does anyone know when Pocketmac might come out with a new version that will support the Storm. Many Thanks.

Quad band GSM...

Seeing how the Storm is quadband GSM, I wonder if you managed some how to have the device unlocked, if you would be able to use the Storm, at least for voice services, in the US with either a GSM carrier with that particular carrier's SIM.

Ok people, I was just about to go out and order the storm, even though there are bugs to work out. Now I am thinking of waiting for this. Thoughts?

It's just another Touchscreen...isn't it?

Alright, let's clear an issue up that people seem to not quite get. The vast majority of comments and reviews you will read are comparing the Storm (and this goes for many other touchscreen phones as well) to an iPhone. PEOPLE!!...I don't remember Apple being the ones who invented the touchscreen! I'm not sure who did, but I do remember having had a couple Palm devices back in the day when PDA's & phones were not yet married and guess what? Yep, they were touchscreen devices!

The iPhone, Storm and all the other 'like' phones are touchscreen phones. So what if Apple took touchscreen to the next level? That's how technology moves forward! The Storm's 'click' screen is new to us as well.

My whole point is that as you're reading reviews a...

Anyone having buttons fall off yet?

I saw one review that mentioned this problem and I know of two other instances myself.

The guy I spoke to at CS said that RIM knew this was an issue and supposedly dealt with it.

Guys am I missing something? I swapped last night

Had the iphone (without update 2.2). Switched because I wanted better service quality, MMS, Video etc etc. I am ready to bring this back today! Man, after the iphone there is no phone. I would rather have a Dare. I want Verizon, especially with my 21% discount for AAA, but I can't take it. The one button click is annoying. More annoying is their auto correct spelling that is hard to work around unlike Apples. Also, the smart type? What is smart about it? I can't stand the multiple clicks to get to the letter I want unless it is in landscape mode. Am I missing something? I love the camera and flash. At least I tried... PS - I am a quick learner too.

15% Access Discount apply to e-mail plan?

I get a 15% discount off my primary line from my company. If I upgrade to a BB with the consumer internet/e-mail plan, is the $30 for that eligible for the 15% discount as well?

Thanks!

Voice Dial - Speech to Text?

Does the voice dialing need to be trained with specific name entries, or does it recognize entries in the contact list?

Possible reason why the Storm was not delayed anymore, regardless of bugs

Normally, a company like Verizon may tend to hold the release of a phone if it is ridden with bugs. Instead they had all their employees flash back the OS's thursday night to prep for the launch as planned. Why? Why not wait a week or two til it could get out a solid revision of the Storm and avoid negative publicity of the bugs?

Could the answer possibly be that RIM wants to meet subscribership forecasts for its quarter that ends Nov 29th?

WAIT for the software update before reviewing the Storm

The Storm's software update is due out very soon, so wait and get the update before you review it. This will also give you the time to get used to how the phone works!

To those who are UNAWARE of the cost

Some people think they can get the phone and not pay for the internet package and add it onto their existing Verizon plan or sign up with Verizon.

This phone REQUIRES at least a 29.99 Data feature added onto your Calling plan package. You have to have it and it can never be taken off. That gives you UNLIMITED internet and Email on Verizons gigantic 3G area.

YOU DONT NEED WIFI. Sorry, you cant have the phone and not pay for the data package. WiFi sucks!! Why do people care about it? The more people using that Wifi spot, the SLOWER it gets. Hard to find free spots... worthless. Its not dependable.

To Summarize the skimmers and non readers: YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A $29.99 PACKAGE ON YOUR PLAN...ON TOP OF YOUR MINUTE PACKAGE. It IS a...

bluetooth issues

I have a Jabra VBT185Z and the storm does not seem to recognize it. It did a search and it could not find it. The Jarba is turned and on search mode, but no matter what I do I can't get it to recognize the devise. I even let the Jabra search for the Storm. Do you think I have a bad phone or another issue.
Thanks.

Not A IPHONE???? Please answer.

I have a question. If a phone has very similar features and is similar size shape and what not, wouldn't it be considered a Iphone clone?

I hear the storm has some features iphone does and some it doesnt but in general they share alot of the same. so again wouldn't it be a clone/killer.

All i hear is about how all these touch screens fail and that the iphone is still king. personally i don't like the iphone, i got to use it and no txt message sucks. plus it weighs a crap ton. (and i hate apple)

I'm getting the storm tomorrow and after using the storm i think its sweet. yes all new stuff has glitches and no one should complain because nothing I've ever bought at launch was 100% perfect.

just a rant, I'm sure ill draw some flames.

Not a fan . . .

I want to make sure I didn't just have a bad experience. I just got back from the Verizon store where I went to play with the BB Storm. It was light and had a nice screen.

However, IT TAKES EVERYTHING SO LONG TO LOAD. It also froze alot. I don't see how you can stand to have a phone that takes so long to just open a program. In addition, the typing is hard to register in the corners where the screen meets the edges.

I just don't understand it. I would go as far to say that the release of this phone is criminal. Did I just play with a bad one? I mean, I tried both demo units.

I mean, if it worked fast I would love it. The click screen is very intuitive. However, it just took too long to do everything. The lag is terribl...
