BlackBerry Storm 9530

I went to a Verizon store to pick up the new Storm and the sales guy there who i trust told me that there might be a recall on this phone with a scheduled re-release 12/15 (which might also be pushed back). Anyone else hear this? any truth to this?

He also told me that another store in the area had 13 of these delivered and 11 were returned. What is going on here, is Verizon that incompetent? How could they have screwed this up so badly?

I got the Storm when it first came out and was initially disappointed. However the recent software update helped somewhat and I'm hoping future software updates will help even more.

My only concern would be if Blackberry\Verizon start shipping out a new version of the phone in the very near future instead of solely relying on software updates. Does anyone know what the chances of that are? Because in this case I would just rather return the phone and wait a couple of months.

Also, does anyone know how long before the Storm gets decent software applications like Google Maps and stocks applications. My friends who have the iPhone have all these really neat applications that track stocks, show traffic, and show videos.

Has anyone else experienced a problem installing the opera mini browser on the storm? I tried twice on Monday and couldn't do it? ☹️

So on the curve and pearl you have the option of setting your alert to beep more than once. Acctually you can have it sound up to 3 times. Is this something you can do on the storm? Or is it something that was left out of the software and might get fixed later? Because I couldnt find it anywhere.

Can Slingbox media work on Blackberry? I'm interested in the storm or bold and want to know if I can watch TV on my way home from work riding the bus.

WOW, now what do you think! I liked the phone before the update, but now...bang bang, you dead iphone.

I have my blackberry set on custom vibrate 1 time at a medium length. When I recieve any kind of message no matter if its a sms, mms, pin, blackberry messenger, i get the vibrate but the sound does not come through. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks for your help.

The only true con I have is that the USB port changed from mini to micro, so all of my other Blackberry accessories were useless.

I have a Bold still in the box, waiting to be activated on a new at&t line, at this point, I don't see that happening.

Does anyone know when Verizon is going to offer the new update for the storm through OTA? Also how are they going to do it? I am a MAC user so I can't get the new update over the web.

I havent tried it yet since I just found it a minute ago so I'm not sure if it is the correct software or not...if anyone else knows, let us know...

Media Sync is taking (instead of copying) itunes music. That means I can't play my music on my computer unless phone is plugged in via usb. I'm I doing something wrong?

I've been trying to do the OTA software upgrade but it says No Upgrades Available. anyone know whats going on or when will it be available Over the air?

I know have the wireless update option in the advanced options menu. No update available yet, but I assume it should be available shortly.

An update to the current Storm operating system (which shipped as 4.7.0.65) has been leaked in the crackberry.com forums. The new update will be version 4.7.0.75.

It's an .exe file that has to be installed via Desktop manager. Release date is scheduled for Dec 5th

Read about it here if you are interested in installing now. There are 24 pages on this thread and people are reporting that it fixes lag issues. An insider got the ok to leak it. It is a carrier version of the software. I assume it's still Beta until it's release
