Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW THE REAL ADVANTAGE OF A CAR KIT?
Well there are a few +'s and -'s those being on the positive note:
Connection to an outdoor antenna is usually possible to give you better signal quality
Continuous power and charging of the battery (but that could be a minus if you charge the battery too much.
Plenty of dash mount units from www.panavise.com that can mount your phone in a convenient location in your vehicle.
and now for the negative side:
Could overcharge the battery depending on what type of battery chemistry is used.
Wiring for the speaker, mic, antenna, and battery is required. This may have you removing interior panels, etc. and if you like to change vehicles frequently you have you remove it and re-install it into the new car.
Hope this helps you make your decision.

During charging and discharging? Wouldn't that mean all of the time? When it is plugged in it is charging. When its not its discharging, right?
PS - My 8910 does this also.
A note about Sanyo signal strength indicators
I still find people complaining about Sanyo signal strength after they changed the indicators a year ago. If you are wondering why new Sanyo phones show less signal than the older phones, here's why:
Originally Sanyo phones showed full signal strength as long as the signal level was enough to place a call without any problems. This could be anywhere from half the potential signal to full signal standing next to the tower. All other phones at that time showed a more accurate signal reading and most people assumed that Sanyos had better reception. This was not necessarily the case even though Sanyo reception has always been very good. I have to assume that Sprint finally said something to Sanyo to get them to change the indicators because starting with the 8200 and 4920 all new Sanyo phones display the signal level just like every other Sprint phone. The reception is just as good as the older phones guys, it just displays it differently.
Re: Verizon forum- Suggestion for Rich

Rich - is there anything that can be done about the Verizon forum? All the name calling that goes on in there makes it like walking through a mine field. No thread is safe to read anymore! :x
Well, the cause is folks going to the Verizon forum to intentionally cause trouble. Trolling, flame-bait topics, etc. etc. And some of said individuals are VERY persistent about it too. Kinda sad actually, and the problem will persist because the ppl persist... unless something is done.
What could be done to stop this sort of crap permanently would be if the Terms of Use spelled out 'No Trolling' very clearly. Right now, the ToU is very anti-flaming and spamming (which is good), but the trolls are given free reign. Which is why certain forums are indeed a 'minefield', as you say.
Note that when I say the ToU should be changed to ban trolling, I'm not saying folks shouldn't be able to post topics critical of a particular carrier, phone, technology, etc, etc. What DOES need to go are the childish "Carrier X SUX!!!!" and "You r getting OWNED, the end is near!" crap topics that serve no purpose except to start arguments.
Other sites have a 'no trolling' policy, and it works... be nice to see it here, as it'd make a good site even better... and more family-friendly.
