Haha! Circuit City lets me surf on the web ALL day long. Ahem. I mean occasionally jump online during my break to check the news. Yeah. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

No, it CAN'T be paid for. Offer $10,000 to Verizon for a proper Bluetooth phone, you still won't get it. Get it?

And it's old news here, but it's interesting that more mainstream news is picking up the story.

The article also plugged the ONLY advantage GSM has over CDMA, the SIM card. A small percentage of wireless users are even interested in Bluetooth, which is why sales of Bluetooth phones will never rival the sales of the lower end voice only phones.
Many of the new MVNO's are playing with wifi as the data sub carrier.

On another note we have not had any bulletins for our Verizon and Sprint customers about such things as CABIR.H or CABIR.I or COMMWARRIOR. These have been directed at our Cingular and T-Mobile customers.

Actually, its my understanding that, all else being equal, CDMA is more tolerant of weak signals. Like the kind you might find inside buildings.

All I can say is, I get signal inside of buildings extremely well w/Verizon... it's nice. 🙂

The biggest advantage i've noticed with my clients using BT is in the car, wireless. or using a headset wireless. file transferring to a computer? hmmmm yea i guess that would be sort of an advantage, but i havent noticed a large percentage of people looking to do that kind of thing. like i said, a mobile office kit does the same thing.

The headsets are great but the better use is for file transfer and syncing without a "kit or wires" to buy. I transfer ringtones and REAL digital photos via BT and it automaticly syncs with outlook when I walk through the door. DOn't need to be on the PC at all. Just turn BT on.

It's Time for Wireless Carriers to Shed Their Tech-Phobia

By Rob Pegoraro
Washington Post

Some tech-conscious cell phone shoppers have a new complaint: Verizon Wireless can't hear them now, and that's not good.

What are they trying to say to that carrier? They'd like to use PalmOne's sleek Treo 650 "smartphone," which Sprint has been selling since December. They'd like more phones that use Bluetooth wireless -- and they don't want Verizon disabling parts of that feature for its own purposes. Some just want a full set of phones that are only phones, without the digital cameras banned at their workplaces.

Verizon isn't the only target of these complaints -- o...

I am sure Verizon will be adopting many of the omissions listed in that article. they have already had to make many changes to stay competitive (otherwise why did they make any changes).

They will HAVE to get onboard as the other carriers equal Verizon coverage. The only difference then will be convenience and features. Both areas Verizon has arrogantly not had to deal with in their precious past.

Times are a changing....you can thank SBC for that because the merger benefited all Verizon customers.

Good point, 85%. After I have read the posts in the Cingular Forum I would hate to be one of their customers and have to deal with those CSR's who openly admit that they hate their customers and that their customers are at fault for their poor showing in FCC complaints. Until they take responsibility for the situation they will not change it.

The company that will win in the end is the one which does the best job focusing on their customers and their unique wants. At this point Verizon is winning the day. T-Mobile is doing well as is NexTel.
In the future I believe that the companies to watch will be Verizon and Sprint-Nextel. Cingular will do well, but they have some work to do.

I am a cingular CSR and beleive me what is going on at cingular is those reps that do not take responsibility for doing their jobs are feeling the heat. The quality standards have gone up the exxpectations are harsher than ever. Those reps are starting to hate their jobs becausep oor attitude and poor tone are not being tolerated. SBC and Bellsouth loaned Cingulat 41 billion dollars they are going to get their money back.

I really don't care about BT, what this article really interests me is that CDMA developers were trying to create a SIM card-like module on CDMA phone. I don't remember any of this going on. Perhaps Rich or anyone for that matter could answer my question as to why this venture did not pan out other than the excuse that VZW and Sprint's business would be "ruined" by making SIM cards for CDMA phones.
