"I Lost My Phone."
by hardcorehavok    Mar 4, 2008, 2:54 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

R = Me C = Customer CS = Customer's son R - Hello. How can I help you? C - My son lost his cell phone. Can we just buy a new one? R - Yes, ma'am. However, you'd have to pay full price. C - Okay. Well, what is full price? R - The phones start at $190. C - $190! But I got mine for $22! R - Yes, ma'am. But that was with a contract. C - Why do we need a new contract? We have one. R - When you sign a contract, you get a discount on a phone. However, you can only resign every 18 months. C - Can we buy a phone at Walmart? R - Yes, ma'am. Anywhere you buy it, it will be full price though. C - Well, that's not fair. Isn't there a customer...Maybe it would help to call customer service. CS - Customer service couldn't do anything. My mom has that phone (pointing to a Samsung) and I have a RAZR. When I got it in the mall, I paid $79. R - Yes, sir. That was the price with a contract. Again, you get a discount when you sign a contract. However, you just recently got the phone, correct? C - I just go my phone, but he has had his for, what, a year? CS - No, I've only had it for a couple months. R - Yeah. That means you'd have to pay full price. C - What is full price? R - Full price starts at about $200. The $22 phone you got is actually $235, but you got a discount for signing a contract. C - (Sticks her nose in the air and walks away) Come on. We'll just get you a Tracfone at Walmart. At least you'll have something. NOTE - I recognized these customers. They just switched from Cell One to AT&T in December. Thus, they are not eligible for an upgrade. I also knew that he did not have insurance. As for his mention of the mall, he got his phone here and NOT at the mall. Must have short term memory issues.

The only ways I know of to get out early without an ETF are as follows: You or someone else on your joint account dies You move away from a Sprint coverage area You roam too much for several months consecutively No. No discounts with corporate competitors.

No I don't work in telesales and as to why they can't answer simple questions...who knows. To answer your questions: Total Equipment Coverage (insurance + extended warranty) is $5.99/month ($50 deductible for insurance claim (from Asurion)) and is availble to ALL phones, smart phones, blackberries and air cards. --note: just insurance is $4.99 no extended warranty. Call Forwarding is a basic feature that is included in every and all calling plans. Unlimited plans are available for all voice devices...however, with a smart phone you will be required to have a data plan IF you wish not to be charges per megabyte...$44.99 is the unlimited data feature to add on, so you're looking at roughly $151 before taxes for unlimited voice, PDA and TEC. There ya go.

I really could care less what they call their company. As long as my service continues as it has been, they could call it "Balderdash" for all I care.
