Great info thanks. Just a side note...when speaking to verizon the feature that comes with the phone (bluetooth sync of calendar and contacts) is not compatible with the service verizon provides, thus meaning you will not be able to use bluetooth sync even though the phone has the capability. Now if there is for certain a "Get it Now" program that will allow this, than wonderful my problems are solved. But is the buy it now feature more affordable than the software purchase you buy at the store for syncing to your outlook. I personally dont have outlook but can easily start using it if it means not having to give more of my hard earned money away.

Re: Only Sprint
by babydoc    Nov 20, 2007, 9:57 PM
in the Article: Government Threatens To Shut Down Sprint's iDEN Network forum

The history of this issue predates Sprints ownership of Nextel and has nothing to do with dimishing Sprints spectrum. When Nextel built their company they chose to aquire low cost spectrum in a frequency band that was already cluttered (I believe it is somewhere in the 170 mHz area) in the hopes that technology advancements would allow them to operate without interference. Unfortunately that did not happen and the interfernece became more and more an issue. Then Nextel executed what everyone thought was a spectrum coup when their lobbyists convinced the FCC to swap their less valuable cluttered spectrum for the more valuable spectrum at 800 mHz with the promise to vacate the old spectrum within a defined time frame. It's at this point that Sprint aquired Nextel. Now having some knowledge of what it takes to vacate the remaining analog carriers after giving customers 8 years notice, I can only imagine the legal issues trying to get customers to vacate the old 1700 mHz bands. However, Sprint purchased Nextel knowing full well the predicament they were facing. They can blame no one but themselves for the bind they are now in. On a different note....I know that Sprints CDMA network quality ranks at the same levels as VZW and ATT however I take issue with the Sprint employees here touting how much better Sprints network is. The quarterly numbers just don't support such statements. Customers are fleeing Sprints service in droves quarter after quarter. I don't care how many data services they offer...they are either not what customers want or they're not as good as we are being led to believe. Hope this information helps.
