GSM Network Buy-outs

I currently work for Dobson CellularONE. We've already sold some regions to Cingular, & are currently migrating to GSM. Rumor has it that Cinugular is planning a buy-out on T-Mobile.

I will be laid of July 1st from CellularONE because they have decided to close down our Frederick, Maryland call center because we're "too expensive to run." ☚ī¸

So anyway, my guess is that once CellularONE migrates completely to GSM from TDMA, Cingular will try to buy out CellONE. I think they're just waiting to CellONE to do all the dirty work w/ the migration, & then once completely, give CellONE an offer they can't refuse. Perhaps CellONE is preparing for this... I have no clue. I just know they will soon be closing our call center down, & our N...

Nokia 6230 Discontinued???

😕 okay, just visited Cingular's site to see if there might be any info on the release of the 6230i and noticed that the 6230 has been removed from the available phone lineup. now this may be good (meaning they're bringing the 6230i to the table) or it may not. does anyone here know what the deal is?

sprint/nextel merger

Does any one have an Idea that when the merger takes place, are nextel users going to have switch to sprint phones or vice verse. I want the I930 but I'm not going to buy it if I have to buy a sprint phone next year.

nextel/sprint merger question

alright, so nextel will be running on CDMA after the merge with sprint. will this mean that they could roam on VZW's network? if so, it could actually make up for all the years with limited coverage... any thoughts??

Windows Smartphone from Cinular or Verizon

Cingular has discontinued the Motorola MPX220 and apparently is announcing no replacement. Verizon has a Samsung I600 Smartphone.

Does anyone know if Cingular will have a new Smartphone,(a phone rather than in a PDA form) or if Verizon will have a new Smartphone that has a camera (which the I600 does not have)?

samsung A670 - warranty and CS

I have had my A670 since August 2004. Recently, the phone cracked at the display light.
Samsumg does not warranty "external" parts of the phone. I am very disappointed, because the only solution Verizon gave to me was to buy a new phone, or work with the broken one (it does not stay closed anymore). I did not drop my phone, I keep it in a verizon black cover to protect it. Simply, the plastic just cracked.
I called Samsung and they require 2-4 weeks to look at it, and will not supply a replacement phone. They also require a $65 repair fee. I asked if that was a base fee, but was not given a straight answer - he said "we keep your credit card on file" - doesn't sound good to me.

Does anyone have a similar situation with Samsung, ...

GPRS settings for cingular- Universal?

Hello All:
Just got an SMT 5600 unlocked off of ebay. I migrated my old TDMA att account to a Cingular plan. Put sim in works fine, but I have the same issue that every one has had with the internet connection- no settings seems to work. Tried all the fourms out there and all the diffrent settings people have claimed worked- but nothing. Called Tech desk at Cincular and given the same story I expected to hear "don't support the phone" but they gave me basic settings. Rep said I would need to register my account online and check the option for accsess medianet. Cingular account site has been down all day. Since the new settings my phone periodically beeps and says unable to communicate with network- perhaps a good sign? Does anyone think th...

New HP Mobile Messenger

I have recently come across several links stating that the new HP Mobile Messenger will soon be released (possibly toward the end of this month). However, after contacting HP, T-Mobile, and Cingular, no one will provide any information.

Does anyone have a solid idea on when these new Mobile Messengers will be released??

Here are some links in case you're not familiar with the upcoming models:

Question about Nokia 6230

I was wondering if this phone has a problem with playing a full music ringtone? I had this problem with my Samsung s307 some time back where if you downloaded musictones from Cingular, they would only be a single verse repeated over and over (or maybe even two words!! đŸ‘ŋ ) while others with different phones could download the same tone from the Cingular site and it actually played a good full 2 verses of the same song. Does this phone play the complete tone? I figured it would and I was looking to upgrade my Cingular phone shortly. Any info would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

LG VX8100 vs Motorola E815

The LG VX8100 superior 2nd display with the OUTSIDE MP3 CONTROLS and the built-in 512MB RAM for MP3 storage is key for me.

Of course, both offer Bluetooth 1.2 technology that will enable them both to work like a high-speed modem for your notebook on the road, and for $15/month with VZW. Compare that with Cingular/ATT's $79/unlimited data connection that doesn't support data-xfer with a notebook and you've got a good deal with VZW's VCast EV-DO offering.

The Samsung SCH-A890 cannot compete with the VX8100 and E815 as it has no Bluetooth, speakerphone, MP3 player, expansion memory slots, or USB support.

The Audiovox CDM-8940 doesn't have BT either but does have USB, MP3, and mini-SD expansion.

Final Ranking of the 4 phones mentione...

Hearing About MPX 220 software update?

I currently have a MPX 220 and I love this phone because I can customize so much crap on it its ridiculious like customized MP3 ring tones I even sell them to fellow employees at Cingular via BlueTooth or Infra, plus I can watch full legnth movies on it, Right now I have Road Trip and Fight Club on it and I could put 3 more on it if I wanted to along with all my MP3s on it. Yes the speaker phone and tone its self isn't very loud until I went in and pu in-call volume and phone volume up to LOUD so its fine and plus I use the Blue Tooth Headset so its fine anyways. Sorry I had to defend my phone.

Ok to the question, after they launch the new MPX 220s with the update will the current consumer be able to download the update or take it into a...
