Wireless USB set to kill off Bluetooth

Interesting article on a new wireless standard:
http://www.vnunet.com/news/1161670 »

Bluetooth may still play a role as a handsfree protocol, but I feel it's days are numbered especially if the SIG allows things like the V710 to happen.

Bluetooth doesn't do anything to ensure compatibility. Whereas, USB does a compatibility test before allowing any manufacturer to use their USB name and logo on their product.

Read the Bluetooth SIG Mobile Phone Implementation Guide too. It describes the various Bluetooth profiles as "suggestions" or "recommendations", but not mandatory requirements. That's where the compatibility problems come in. Too much is optional.

BMW, Verizon and others actually publish a "compatibility chart" for which phon...

In regards to the i730/i830

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and website and i was looking on here yesterday and happened to see in the news section that the FCC approved the Samsung SCH-i830, which will be the first Windows Mobile for Pocket PC device to include both CDMA and GSM mobile technologies. My question is will this phone ever be sold in the U.S. and if so, how long does it take for them to release the product after the FCC has approved it? This is a very cool PDA phone and i would luv to get my hands on it as soon as it becomes available.

Also in regards to the i730 which the i830 is based on, is it a way you can purchase this one? If you have any info. or even opinions about this please get back with me. I'd greatly appreciate it.

A new Phone Launching like the MPX 220

OK I saw this phone either on this site or maybe in this monthly magazine I think called RCR or something like that and well the phone was by a new carrier that was supposed to hit the market sometime late 2005 or early 2006. The phone was exactly like the Motorola MPX 220 but it has what I wish the MPX 220 had now which was Wi-Fi and Edge technology. That is the only difference and that is huge to me because that is one of the main reasons I bought the MPX 220 because u could browse any webpage and also the MP3 player and I have found other goodies on it like making my own ringtones from the MP3 player and watching full legnth movies on it too. Well thats besides the point so can anyone help me out thank you

Roaming lockout on scp7300?

I didn't see anything about this feature in the specs for the Sanyo SCP-7300. I'm waiting to get this replacement phone from LockLine. They've been historically HORRIBLE with their replacement phones....POS!

Bluetooth

I plan to go VZW, and really want Bluetooth. Their only BT phone is Moto v710, which stinks in reviews. Can BT be added to a non-Bluetooth phone with an adapter? How well do they work? What is reqd on the phone (jacks) to do this?

Sprint and bluetooth??

I actually work for Sprint's equipment replacement program and I'm positive that we probably get more questions about new equipment releases than store reps any day. However the only one I haven't had an answer for is if and when sprint will put out more phones that are bluetooth enabled?? Any of you cell phone guru's know? If so, let a girl know, this may make my job easier!!

New Verizon phones?

I really want to use VZW, but I want a decent bluetooth phone (not the Moto v710). Does anybody (all you VZW reps out there) when VZW is going to intro the Moto E815?

have you heard of the new ESPN phones coming out?

ESPN and Sprint have signed a contract... and are developing phones... that you can setup for your favorite sports teams, almost like those Nascar phones with Nextel... have live streaming data to the phone with updates on specific sports and/or sporting events... no idea when it's coming, maybe it has in some area's? But it's been signed... ESPN and Disney are actually in contract talks as well...

Buy.Com/InPhonic

I notice that I can buy higher end phones much cheaper, often free, with VZW service through Buy.com (Inphonic). Has anyone used them and what's the catch?

Will there be a new phone to match Verizon Wireless Samsung i600?

I am about to buy a new phone and have been eyeing the Samsung i600 for Verizon Wireless. The stores are no longer carrying it, but I can buy it on-line. Does anyone know if a newer version is coming out? Is it worth the wait? Any recommendations? The i700 is too big for my taste and the Audiovox is out of my price range. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Caller IDs by SMS: missed calls when OFF or out of range

Caller IDs by SMS: missed calls when OFF or out of range

Wireless providers outside of North America have a feature
that uses SMS to send Caller IDs of calls missed
while the handset was OFF or out of range.

http://home.singtel.com/consumer/products/mobile/val ... »
Are any North American providers considering this?
I can't wait, I hate voice mail and disable it.
