B|tch|n and Moanin

So.. My day started off with a bang this morning. This obviously retarded (I am not being mean. I mean she was obviously mildly retarded.)Comes in and asks to add two lines.

No problem, I think, I place a call to my people to get her line changed to BAN level, so two add'l lines can be added. They just paid off their balance, so I had to talk to financial. Who says.. "The line is suspended, not because it was unpaid, but because they have another line that went to collections."

So, I explain to this dumb broad that until the collections bill is paid in full I obviously cannot give them addtional service. She is dumbfounded. (No pun intended).

"Well," I explain, "You wouldn't loan someone a hundred bucks if they borrowed $100 on two ...

Would anybody allow this?

So the caller says he knows somebody who has a phone but he doesn't know if it's one of ours or what carrier this person has service with... He says he wants to pay the bill for this person and can I look up the account?

What? Other than us having no access to account information if he's not listed as an authorized user we're not giving him ANY information. Does he seriously expect anybody to give him any information? Even if he really is just trying to help somebody out by paying some of the bill we're not going to let him do it, it's very much against company policy to let ANYBODY but the authorized users and primary do ANYTHING on an account.

It's a nice offer but there has to be another way to do something helpful for somebody w...

Not Cool

I've worked here for about 3+ months (one short 'leave of absence' but, we don't talk about that) In that time I'd only had 1 customer exchange a phone (none returned). In the past week I've had 3 phones exchanged.
The first was a guy who couldn't choose between the Moto E815 and the LG 8100. He bought the E815 cause it came w/ a free BT Headset then exchanged it for the 8100 a few days later.
The second was my sister and it was cause of a phone defect.
The third was today. Went from a Samsung i730 (PDA) to the Moto E815. She spent 3 hours choosing between that and the LG 8100. She called her brother who spent all that time on the internet researching everything I had told her about the two phones. All he found was that I don't lie and an...

VZW Call Center

😁 I know this isn't made for shout outs, but I have to say HI to everyone that is stuck working. I'm lucky enough to be out on Maternity leave. I know a lot of my friends come on here to escape the next phone call, to find some humor, or someone that relates. Unfortunately we're not allowed to post though, it's a "read only deal"! So hang in there and I'll see you in a few weeks. To all the other Shop talk people do us a favor and keep it interesting for the others that come here to find relief from call center hell! Miss ya Fred, make sure you finally teach Brugger how to use phonescoop, maybe she'll actually come to work more often!

keep trying, you won't be able to see it.

So we just got these new screen protectors and they are SWEET! I seriously recommend them to everyone in here. They are just polarized sheets that go over the screen so you can only see the screen from straight in front of it.

Now whenever a customer trys to lean over the counter to see what I'm doing, I just let them and watch them strain! lol The only place you can see the screen from is where I am standing.

I used to ask them to back up, and say there was proprietary info that they weren't allowed to see. Now I just watch them. they get the point and let me work. 🤣

Relay calls

Has anyone ever delt with these kind of calls. It's when a person calls you on behalf of someone that is deaf and they are typing back and forth for each other. The deaf person will type a question out to the operator and the operator will repeat what they are typing. Then you will answer and they will type back word for word what you say. I laughed one time and they asked me if i wanted them to include the hahahaha in it lol. These can be very long conversations. When they don't really understand what your telling them it can be even longer. What exactly does a deaf person need with a cell phone anyways other than text. Couldn't they just get a two way pager for cheaper than a cell phone? Are these relay operators only to help deaf...

How Many

So for people in sales, a question. In an average two week period, how many lines of service do you usually activate?

No, I'm afraid we don't carry that. . .

Okay, my turn for the funny story. I'm a tech, so I don't usually walk out on the sales floor unless there is physical force involved. But I had to go out to talk to one of the sales reps, and they had a little bit of a line. So I'm showing my rep something on the computer and this guy jumps out of line and walks to the middle of the store. He waves his hand around and goes "Hey do you have the charger for this?"

Me: I'm sorry, I can't see what that is. What model is it?

Him: This phone, THIS one! (more vigorous waving, figure 8s in the air with the phone)

Me: I don't think so, is that a--

Him: Well do you know who DOES have the charger?!

Me: (I'm still not even sure what kind of phone it is) Can you stop waving it ...

Whoever you were

If you read this and you were the gentleman who called me a minute ago... you were very cool.

I just spoke with a dealer for our competitor who wanted to know if a Cingular phone could be used on our network (if it's unlocked, yes, it can.)

Once he'd finished asking, I, as is required, asked if I could set him up with service. The banter that followed was wonderful. Thank you, whoever you were, that will probably be the high point of my day.

Best Buy my @$$

so any one who has ever worked at Best buy and had a horrible experience doing so, post your story because you know you want to vent.

Heres one of my many bed expiriences with them...
After putting up with the BS for far too long I quit, it happend to be in the middle of the pay period when i left so a few days ago (pay day) i should have gotten a pay check. So i went there and they told me in a very rude voice that i did not have one.
this is the order of events-
1. my hours get cut
2. i get a small pay check after seing it i tell them that after the next weeks schedule not to bother putting me on it because i have a better job lined up. (which was true i started looking after the hours got cut)
3. I work my last week
4. I go ...

Isn't this illegal? (Minor rant)

Question for my fellow call center reps...my girlfriend who is epileptic works in the same office as I do. She needs to take pills everyday, or she seizes. Yesterday, she left her pills at our apartment. Her supervisor actually refused to let her run home and get them. (I ended up going home simply because my supervisor is not an uncaring jerk.) Am I the only one who thinks this is incredibly wrong?

I love work....

At my other job doing paperwork... the kids are doing everything else. I'm bored and I managed to get a few drinks in before I started , so I figured I'd hop on and see how the wireless world was going.

No, you can't pay your bill here.

Tonight is not a good night. I'm sick, I'm working 12 hours, and I keep getting people that just refuse to listen to me. I JUST had someone leave that came in and asked if they could pay their bill here in cash. I told them "I'm sorry, but since we're an agent location, we can't accept cah payments for contract phones here. We can only accept credit cards, which we have to call in over the phone and you don't get a reciept." She looks at me funny, and asks me to pull up her account as she had an accident with her phone. Someone tried to pull her phone out of her hands and they ended up struggling for it and snapped it in half. SHe did have insurance so I showed her how to file a claim, and told her what to tell the insurance company, in orde...

That is not an applicable answer...

Customer calls in asking how to check how many minutes they have. I inform her that she can dial #369 to check her current minute balance, or she can call 611 and talk to customer service to get her usage to find out when she went over her minutes (I cannot pull up that system on my computer). She asks about the pricing on car chargers and I give her the info on them. She asks "So I just call 611 then?" I ask "To check your balance or to find out usage details?" She respond with "Yes." I kinda sit there a second. I ask, "excuse me?" She responds again with "Yes." I was kinda stumped, wondering which question she was answering yes to. "So you want to check your balance, or check your usage details?" She responds again "Yes." I know what some ...
