Slowing down

Met with one of my area managers yesterday. Gonna get to slow down a bit, which is cool.

For the company I work for (an indirect) managers are REQUIRED to work 45 hours a week as a MINIMUM, not an average.

Been a bit tough for me, since my Mother died about a month ago. Hard to listen to someone rant about something as trival as a cell phone, ya know? Anyhow, I will not be working as much, and just going back to being an hourly person.

Still manager, but not required to work 45+ hours a week. Not as much money, but a lot better mental health I hope.

*sigh*

A question for any T-Mobile reps...

I'm considering a wireless PC card, and T-Mobile seems to have pretty good pricing. The one thing I couldn't seem to find is the connection speed I can expect if I sign up. Can anyone point me towards this info? Thanks!

P.S. I am in the metro Nashville, TN area.

And I'm back.

Wish I wasn't but better now for the five-day-vacation. Well what passed for my vacation, I got to sleep as late as I wanted and do practically nothing for those five days... just Karate class but with my test coming up there it's crazy... lots of extra lessons just so I'm sure. Next time I take a vacation I'm LEAVING TOWN!

for those that worked for cingular and verizon

So I currently work for Cingular and honestly I really love the company. I think the rollover is great, the reception is good enough, and the phones are really cool. Also the new ability to stream videos on new phones, that's pretty cool.

But recently I've been offered a position to work for a Verizon store. Again they would be an agent store just like what I work for now, but it would mean more money for me, as much as some months getting $1000 more, some months less obviously.

The question I have is faced with simply working for one company or the other which would you choose? Cingular or Verizon? For those that have worked for both, what has your experiance been like? or is this just too complex a question to answer due to wor...

Raging Lunatic

A woman living in PA who moved from California was busty screaming at me about how coverage is bad in Idaho. She's never been to Idaho. What?

Thought this would amuse you people

Had a customer last night, right before closing, walk in with a dadgone UGLY cover for her black Razr. It was an actual housing for the phone that she bought ONLINE, of course.

Color? BRIGHT GLOWING YELLOW. Clear. And FUGLY. Anyhow, she wanted me to put it on the phone for her.

Me: "Sorry, I can't do that. Won't be responsible for screwing up your $320 phone. You'll have to do that yourself!"

Her: "How?"

Me: "See these little places on the phone? They cover up eensy, teensy screws. Like sorta on eyeglasses. Kinda. You have to actually take the phone apart to put this on."

Her boyfriend: "Ya'll don't have, like, a tech or something that does that sort of thing?"

Me: "Um, no... and even if we did, we do not recommend putting ...

Best thing you ever got away with

The thread is simple, what is the best line that you got away with saying to a customer?

here's mine. I used to be a customer service rep for a landline company (I won't say which one, all I'll say is they've had some enron-type legal issues in the past while). anyway, this guy is on the line, tearing me a new one about how long it'll take to move his service (up to 3 week timeframe for his state), blathering on and on, and I've just about had it. Now, I know my supervisor is live-monitoring this call, as I keep hearing him laugh at some of the outlandish stuff the guy's saying, finally, he blurts out "If I was George Bush, you wouldn't tell me it would take 3 weeks!"

Having had enough of this guy's bs over the past 45 minutes, and rea...

Effect of MVNO's

Does anyone know if mvnos have an adverse effect on any given companies network? I know that a problem with cell phones is tower congestion, and if a carrier has given a slice of their network to mvno's, does that attribute to bad cell service. I know sprint and cingular have a fair share of resellers/prepaids that go of their towers, and if anyone knows if mvnos take down the companys service please respond, thanks.

i'm going to sue you!

this customer just REALLY got to me, he would NOT listen to me trying to save him a few thousand dollars.

He was angry because his phone (LG in a 1900 frequency market, is a NO GO on GSM for some reason) was a POS, and it gave no reception, but of course, according to the customer, all of the phones were the same, and probably made under the "same company" (which is?)

anyhow, he gets upset, saying our coverage sucks, and because he usually can't make calls on his beat up, thrown around scratched and dented to hell LG, it's MY fault, cause i built the coverage out here after all...

so, the customer goes on, and on and ON, and i eventually explain about ETF's since he asked... and the convo went like this

"i'm going to get my lawye...

Any advice would be welcome

I am a Corporate sales rep right now, but I was just offered a job as a store manager of an Indirect store. I have another day or so to think about it.

The company is a premier agent with the best reputation in my market. It sounds like a good opportunity, but I'm a little hesitant to leave the corporste side of things.

What sort of package were you looking for?

So I asked a simple question (and this happens a lot) What sort of package were you looking for? Did you need a lot of minutes? Free Nights and Weekends? Something smaller? Did you have a price range in mind?

"Well what's your smallest?" Do people not realize that smallest doesn't just mean least expensive it also means fewest minutes? Because every time I say "Oh sure, our smallest is 29.99 a month, 300 minutes and free weekends."

"Oh that's WAY too small."

"Oh so you have something in mind?"

"I was looking for more like a thousand minutes."

Why didn't you say that to begin with? Do you think we get sneaky and hide the thousand minute plan as the least expensive just to trick you? What purpose does it serve to tell me t...

I just had a rude customer, can you believe it ???

Ok here is the story. I just finished helping this customer after like 25 minutes. Well, while I was helping him I had a customer call about adding on mobile web. Well I couldn't do it in our computers for some reason so I called tech support. While I was on hold I ran right across from my kiosk to grab a vitamin c from the gnc. I was over there for maybe 2 minutes and some guy comes in front of the store saying "HEY ALLTEL!!" I turned around still with the phone in my hand on hold and asked the guy what I could do for him. He bought a phone a year ago from another location and just now ripped the pouch. He wanted me to trade the pouch out for another one. I told him I could not just give him one but we had one for 14.95 and he said...

Stupid People

One thing that really ticks me off is stupid people with outrageous bills and I'm trying to save them money and they just totally don't listen.

Some lady with sprint the other day had their smallest plan and was showing me her bill that she just paid and it was like $400. I easily noticed that she texted and talked way more than her plan allowed. I told her I cut cut her bill to around $70-100 and she'd be saving A LOT of money. She was out of contract and just kept saying I couldn't do that and sprint gave her the best deal. I'm like "ma'am, it frankly doesn't matter WHAT service you choose, ANY of them can SAVE you money. If you're going to stay with sprint, call up and change your plan but you are paying a ridiculous amount!" and she ...
