A question for store managers..or reps.

So I just got my own store a month and a half ago. We barely hit our goal last month and are projecting to miss it this month. What do you guys do if your numbers are down? Do you actively solicit sales by cold calling businesses or passing out flyers? Do you see any results from these exercises? How do you try and get back on track when times are slow? My territory manager is trying to turn me into an outside salesman to get customers into my store because my company turned into starbucks and put a store on ever corner. I hate reporting such bad numbers but when I have no traffic I don't want to be blamed.

Wow...

Just had a guy complaining about my prices on prepay phones. He started in with the whole "Tracfone for $10" thing. I just stood there and let him rant. In our area, tracfone is literally useless. You get service in the center of 1 of the neighboring towns and that's about it. I reminded him of this fact and he started in with "I can get that VZW phone at Rite Aid for less and make you turn it on for me."

I explained that I can't activate phones from Rite Aid, Walmart, or any other BS large useless chain. I said he would have to dial a number on the phone that, to my knowledge, still doesn't work. I also explained that my price includes the activation...etc. etc. etc.

When the guy started trying to convince me that his brothe...

My response to something I hear every day...

"Do you know I have been a customer for 15 years?"

My Response:

"Thank you SOOOO much for your monthly donations to our company, because god knows you receive NOTHING out of the payments you make every month. As a non-profit organization we appreciated all of the donations we can get."

/sarcasm

The fact of the matter is that the bill you have been pay every month for however many years enables you to stay in contact with friends, family, and co-workers from anywhere at any time. With the little device you hold in your hand you are able to wirelessly communicate via calls, text msgs, and emails all in one device. These phones are not "free", cheap, "throw-away" products, they are marvels in modern technology and should be taken...

You should tell people!

So apparently we should tell people the minute we stop carrying an accessory for their phone.

She was pissed because we don't carry the battery for her phone, which we are phasing out. She was very upset and said we should be responsible for telling people who have that phone when we stop carrying their parts.

How is that even possible? With a GSM provider we can't even keep tracks of what phone you have on your account... it's not even vaguely reasonable to expect us to keep a running check on every accessory that is available for your phone on the off chance that you might want it and tell you the second we stop carrying it.

And what could would it do? Give you another reason to whine and complain because we don't carry it.

Signing Drunk

I had a customer come in today asking about getting a line of service. I ran his info and he only had a $100 deposit, so he went ahead and signed a 2 year agreement. The whole time I was setting up the account I could smell beer and weed on him. He did not even have a drivers license just an I.D.
Is it illegal to have someone sign a contract while they are drunk? I'm thinking this one will definitely be a chargeback....

fr- i hate it when you cell phone people harass customers that walk by

fr- well to me, you are all the same

I dont like being recorded :(

I had a customer come in asking about getting new service. As he is leaning over my counter looking at phones, his shirt pocket is hanging down and I notice a small black device inside with stop, play, fast-forward, reverse and other buttons on the long edge of it. Curious, I ask the man, "Say, what kind of phone is that in your pocket, or is that a tape recorder?" The guy starts freaking out, he leans back from my counter and grabs his pocket so I cant see inside. "Its a cell phone" he says, and of course I ask what kind. Hes like "Uhh, its a 139, a Motorola C139, I got it as a replacement." He then quickly raps up his questions and leaves.

Why must people feel compelled to record people without telling them?

Because I am bored...

I will post just about any story that I come up with.

Either that or they're particularly stupid today. It could go either way.

She ordered a car charger on the web site.

She didn't bother to make sure it was the right one for her phone.

It isn't.

Now it's my fault and I need to fix it.

Because she's computer illiterate. Oh, she's done yelling now, time to go explain how she has to be responsible for her own actions. Good times.

Back dating rate plan changes

With post-paid accounts most companies charge in advance rather than arrears, correct? If this is the case should companies allow back dating of rate changes to cover minute usage?

If it were me I would just require you to keep that same plan for a two month period. Meaning if you changed it in the middle of this month you would have to retain it for the next billing cycle as well. What are your thoughts?

WOW

All from the same call,

me- "can I get you're zip code to do a personal coverage check for you?"
idiot- "Can I give you my credit card number instead?"

then
cust- "I'm 18 so OBVIOUSLY I don't have a driver's license or a social security number!"

wow, socials are issued at birth, you can get a license at 16 in most states as far as I know and I don't even need a license specifically I could use a lot of other things too! So she decided to go pre paid since we basically need a card and an address to send to on that.

Idiot-"Can I get prepaid with a monthly bill and like the same plan every month?"

hmmmmm... that's called post paid!

Thanks Qwest!

I was at the gym the other day doing my morning run and rocking some Beck on my iPod when I happened to glance up at the TV. I was pretty much disgusted with what I saw. It's just a Qwest commercial but wow did it make me sick to see a corporation encouraging idiocy so much. Grandma is on her Qwest landline and John Doe is on his Qwest internet then all the sudden theres Broseph talking on his Qwest C-Phone. Where is Broseph you ask and why am I so mad? Yeah they cut to this scene of an idiot talking on his mobile phone while floating around in a pool. Who brings a phone in the pool? Not even a mobile phone just any phone, or anything electronic for that matter, honestly who does that? So if you work for Qwest and you're getting a lot of wat...

Not my problem (MY TURN TO RANT)

I don't kow why your check was declined, nor do I care...... and telling that becasue I can't accept it (it was declined by telecheck) does not mean that you are no longer obligated to pay your bill!!!

Who's idea was this? And why didn't Nikoletta post this first?

Here's a fun e-mail from yesterday when I came in...

"For the customers calling in stating that they did not receive their battery for the T-Mobile Wing:

There is a false bottom in the Wing phone box (the box that holds the entire phone kit) and this is you where the customers will locate the battery!"

Who spends $350 on a PDA to not figure that out and why wasn't the battery just in there.
And Why did I spend that year in college because of my horse?
