A Typical Day...

"No. We do not open for another ten minutes."

"No. I can't help you now, we're not open, I need to get my computer set up first."

"Yes, I'd love to help you, but we are not open yet and I need time to get my system up and running so that I can help you."

"Yes, we are now open, how may I help you?

"Yes, I'd be happy to help you buy a new phone."

"No, you are not eligible for an upgrade, however you can purchase one at full price."

"No, I can't give you that phone for free, you are only eligible for a discounted price of 260."

"No I can't give you a free bluetooth headset, car charger, wall charger, or leather case."

"No, we don't carry that model here, this is XYZ Wireless not ABC Wireless."

"No, I know you have b...

I know they happen but I hate when they do

I hate the really bad days.

I hate the days when everybody comes in to complain about something you can't fix or something you have nothing to do with. You offer options and they don't like any of them.

I hate the days when everybody is "just looking" and no matter how you attempt to engage them to find out what the devil they are actually looking for, you can't close them or get any money out of them.

I hate the days when everybody tries to start arguments with us about how they know everything and we don't know anything. I hate it when, no matter how polite and professional I try to be, they just refuse to listen. "No sir. We don't offer the Samsung i760 free with no rebates to send in on secondary line upgrades, especia...

So I was reading through old archived files on the computer and stumbled upon this colorful yet incomplete Gem written by an ex-coworker. (based mostly on fact) ๐Ÿ˜ข i miss 'im.

would you?

I work warranty for Cellular One. Cell One customer needs their phone sent in for repair. The customer requests to have a loaner phone sent to them but does not have an address to send it to because there is a signature required for delivery and there is no one to sign for it. The customer is at an AT&T retail store and asked if they could have the phone sent there. The representative at the store would not allow to have the phone sent there. AT&T bought out Cell One and once the contract ends the customer does not have a provider. Why would you not allow a potential customer to have the phone sent to your store?

I think I understand why so many people demand a free phone...

To all you reps who bravely face whiney snotty mean ass people who demand this phone free and that phone free, I think I know why.

For years, wireless companies have been giving their low-end phones away for free with a contract. Even today carriers are offering their lowest end phones for free.

Well, I think if the wireless companies would stop doing that, then after a decade or so, people will eventually realize that there is no such thing as a free phone. But maybe I'm wrong. (After all, we ARE talking about wireless customers.)

Instead of giving low end phones away with a contract, make them pay at least 20 or higher.

I paid 40 for my Nokia 2610 and it was well worth it. I got a nice phone, my rep got a small commission.

Insurance

I have a gripe for most cell phone company employees. I work for a cell phone insurance company that will remain nameless. I am sick of customers complaining to me that when they were sold the insurance they were told it would cover EVERYTHING. This is completely untrue. If you can find me a car insurance company that would cover racing accidents with the same premium as a 26 yr old woman I would be all up for it. A word of advice to all you sales associates. You can't fully disclose what the insurance policy covers by law but you can tell the customer. "Get the insurance, read and understand the insurance policy with in one month. Then make a decision if you want to continue or cancel the insurance." That way I stop getting called a f**ckin...

Are all warranty exchange customers mental?

I work in at&t warranty exchange, this customer clled in because her placement phn states to insert sim card, asked her to remove the sim from the damaged phone, customer stated that her phn never had a sim card, I assured it does, cstmr stated none of her previous phones had one, only her husbands did but not hers. askd her to remove the battery and helped customer discover ๐Ÿ˜ณ the phn has a sim card, had to provide instructions how to remove the card & install it to the new phn & activate the phn (treo 680). The customer was so excited that her replacement device now works. ๐Ÿ™„

Insurance

I notice you guys bitch a lot about customers who should have got insurance. Well..I question this. How they roll their car over their phone or drop it in the toilet constantly is beyond me, but a lot of people such as myself never lose or damage their phones.

Now..I understand getting insurance if you just bought a 400US+ phone from the store or ebay...that makes sense if the deductible is adequite. But if you just got a 300$ phone for free... I would risk not getting insurance. Maybe I'm totally living on the edge..but here's why:

For lets just say one year, not the typical 2 yr model you use to sell insurance:

6x12=72...72+50=122 or 72+100=172...this is how much you end up paying for the new phone which I hear in some cases is r...

Isn't it fun?

Isn't it fun when a customer calls in complaining to you saying they were suppose to have this feature and that feature... And here you are like crap no credits on the account, and a good standing customer. So of course I have to give something and then in the midst of you thinking about what to offer, the idiot flushes him self in the toilet by telling you some B.s story and goes... "I did not mean that, I meant this." And yet still fails and gets nothing!

Or you see that they called in every month getting a credit for something that is obviously there fault and make no change to correct it.

hang up the phone!!!

this is probably the most basic and prevalent pet peeve i've encountered while working in call centers.

we don't release the call, the customer is supposed to. i simply cannot believe the vast number of people who don't realize they have to hang up the phone at the end of a call.

"thank you for calling AT&T Business Care, you have a great day, goodbye"

"goodbye."

[mute button]

"damnit. what a *********, he wouldn't give me no $50 refund, bet his mother's **** blah, blah, blah, etc."

[loooooong pause, papers shuffling, baby crying, whatever]

[unmute]

"was there anything else i can assist you with today?"

"oh no, there isn't."

HANG UP THE PHONE.
