Proof is still needed for Military Deployment in order to waive the early termination fee.

Re: Question for a Verizon Rep or any Knowledgeable person...

This is your first bill with a Smartphone, is that correct? From what I see you got the Eris on 01/18. Any time that you switch from a device that does require a data plan to one that does (for the first time), you will have a partial charge for the data plan from the first day it's activated until the end of the billing cycle. Then you are also billed for the month in advance. If you ever ...

Yes VZW will waive the ETF with no proof required. Just let them know the user of the phone died

Some games do charge mb for playing them. You can go to verizonwireless.com and click on Entertainment and Apps and search for your game. Once you find it, in the description it will say Airtime or Megabyte charges will apply depending on your plan

Re: Insurance Question??? Correct Answer
Mar 9, 2010, 2:48 AM
in the Verizon forum

Everyone, When you do an ESN change to CPE (customer provided equipment) the insurance WILL carry over the activated device. I did not believe this for the longest time until I looked it up within the past 2 weeks. Those of you that have access to Infoman, look up ESN Changes with Insurance. The information is there.

Re: 160 Char limit on SMS removed?
Jan 21, 2010, 12:56 PM
in the Verizon forum

That is kind of true. What happened was if you had an Enhanced Messaging (EMS) phone you could send a VZW customer with an EMS phone you could send one really large message to them and it would only count as one message for each other. When you sent it to someone without an EMS phone or non VZW customer no matter how much you sent they would only get the first 160 characters. This part was changed. ...

The other way to do this is with Usage Controls which is 4.99 a month per line. You can add it for awhile and take it off to see if that will stop those people from calling you. You need to set this up thru your My Verizon

Re: Question for Reps
Jan 17, 2010, 10:48 PM

Did you have to pay $50.00 to get the replacement since you are outside of the 1 year warranty? If you did then it will come with a 90 day warranty on it. IF you didn't pay 50.00 then that means you have an extended warranty on the phone or TEC (Total Equipment Coverage) then you have a 2 year warranty from the original purchase which would be Aug 2011

Re: Verizon to require data on most phones by month's end
Jan 10, 2010, 1:07 PM
in the Verizon forum

In November of 2007 the 29.99 email and web for smartphone wasn't avalable. I would say to log into My Verizon and try to change to that feature or call customer service and they can do it. There is still a few phones that don't do the 29.99 feature, not sure if that phone doesn't.

Re: Verizon to require data on most phones by month's end
Jan 9, 2010, 1:36 AM
in the Verizon forum

The OP is right. VZW is getting rid of the 19.99 75 MB data plan but keep the 9.99 but introduce a 29.99 unlimited option (like the email and web for Blackberry) both these plans will include Mobile Email. Also, 3G Mutlimedia phones (ex: twist, alias 2, Chocolate Touch- to name a few) will require one of the above data plans starting 01/18. So we will have the same headache as with the LG EnV touch. Great!! There was ...

Yes, VZW does cell Certified Preowned Phones on the website but it is only for new lines of service or if you're upgrade eligible. They don't see them as a replacement phones if yours is lost/stolen/damaged or you just want to get a new phone. You need to be eligible for an upgrade

Re: restocking fee question
Dec 25, 2009, 3:31 AM
in the Verizon forum

The restocking fee applies if you exchange the phone for another phone unless you are VIP until the program ends at the end of Feb. If you return the phone you are not obligated to the contract you signed for the phone and all of your contract and upgrade dates will be reset to its previous dates. If you return the phone and get another phone within 3 days then you will have the restocking fee. If anyone at ...

Call into customer service and tell them you are not getting service. If they check the map and your address is in a no service or extended network then you will be able to cancel without an etf, you can even see the map at verizonwireless.com. if it is in a digital coverage area then, as someone previously stated, they can speak with tech support to open a trouble ticket. If there is no resolution from that then they ...

Re: Question about NE2 upgrade discount
Nov 21, 2009, 3:23 AM
in the Verizon forum

If you are on a plan of 49.99 or higher than you are seeing the discounts of an annual (early) upgrade. You qualify for the new customer pricing but not your new every 2 credit (50.00 for plans between 34.99 and 74.98 or 100.00 for plans 79.99 or higher). If you get the upgrade now, then it resets your new every 2 clock 20 months from whenever you activate your phone.

Re: droid ringtones
Nov 21, 2009, 3:17 AM

You can have a ringtone for your incoming calls then notifications. To do this (with your own provided music) connect your droid to a computer and transfer music to the device. From music you can set as phone ringtone. Since you want ringtones for notifications you can get a free application called Ringdroid which will load your music to it, you can pick whatever part of the song you'd like to use. At that point you can save it ...

Re: LG EnV Touch to require web plan
Nov 4, 2009, 1:53 PM
in the Verizon forum

I read it in Infomanager (I think the same article that talked about the Data ETF), I agree with you there that how is the system going to KNOW that they require a data plan. All the article said was that anybody that activated the LG EnV Touch on or after the date would require a data plan.

It's an update that came out. The EnV Touch is an Enhanced Multimedia Phone like the Samsung Rogue, so from now on it will require a data plan like the Rogue.

New ETFs for data devices
Nov 4, 2009, 3:41 AM
in the Verizon forum

Did anyone else read this? There is going to be a new ETF for Data devices. It will be $350.00 for people that start service with a data device or upgrade to one on or after 11/14/2009. It will take off $10.00 for the variable ETF. A little excessive I think, maybe $250.00 sounds about right.

Actually, I saw an update today about backup assistant. It said that online it would allow you to save your contacts to a CSV (if i'm not mistaken) file that you could put on the Droid and other PDA/Smartphones/Blackberries

Changes tomorrow?

I got an email that Sprint was making some type of changes tomorrow. It said: In the past we've brought you Simply Everything, Right Plan Promise and ReadyNow. Sprint is ready to change the game once again. Any idea what is changing? Kinda sounds like new plans, maybe? Or I could always wait until tomorrow, but what's the fun in that lol  :D

After you are finished listening to your messages press 4 for Personal Options; 2 for Administrative Options; 4 for Message Review Options; 1 to Change Order of Messages then it should give you the option to hear the newest messages first. The #s may not be the same depending on your location and voicemail platform. But the different options menus will be the same. Hope that helps

Re: NE2
Jun 2, 2009, 12:09 PM
in the Verizon forum

By buying the phone outright, do you mean paying full retail price for it? Based on your price plan you would probably be eligible for an annual (early) upgrade on 07/15/2009. You would get 2 year pricing and usually a $20.00 processing fee but you do not get your ne2.

When do nights and weekends start? Customer is on an unlimited minute price plan

Seriously?
May 30, 2009, 11:45 AM
in the Shop Talk forum

I had a store tech call into me, she had just replaced the phone and the customer could not make calls. I checked the features and there was an Incoming Only feature on the account, removed it and tested, worked. The sad part is that the customer had called in yesterday and spoken with customer service and 2 techs that did not see that. 8O It's crazy how we over look the little things.

Tiered Insurance
May 6, 2009, 3:21 PM
in the Verizon forum

Saw an update that VZW will be changing their insurance deductibles. They will adopt the tiered policy like other carriers. It will be 85.00 for advanced devices (PDAs, Smartphones, BB, Voyager, Glyde, Dare - type devices with HTML browsers) and 39.00 for regular handsets. This will go into effect for devices purchased after 05/17/09. There a few changes to the monthly cost as well of the features.

There is not a way to sync your Outlook contacts to Backup Assistant (online program). You could manually type them online and then sync them to your phone though. It would be easier to type them online than on your phone. But the Backup Assistant is only available for the BREW phones.

unlimited 49.99
Mar 29, 2009, 11:55 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

My sister called CS and they told her about the unlimited minute plan for 49.99 and she decided to just switch to that plan. So my question, is there any catches to this plan? Does it extend her contract (because they didn't tell her very much) and what exactly does it include? Thanks for the help all

Re: discount for employees

There is a website that you can go to if you have a work email address. www.verizonwireless.com/discounts. This site will search based on the email address to see if we have a contract with your company (by the email only). If you are eligible it will send you an email to let you know the percentage that you will receive. If you do have a work email but the website does not recognize it, that doesn't mean that you are ...

Re: Verizon Blocked Numbers
Mar 12, 2009, 5:43 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

Yes. It's called Call and Message blocking for up to 5 numbers. The # has to be 10 digits, it blocks incoming calls and incoming/outgoing messages. The free block lasts 90 days and you will receive a message once it is removed and you can request again for it to be blocked. Usage controls for $4.99/month which must be added/managed thru My Verizon allows you up to 20 #s and lasts however long you wish.

Re: Sprint Insurance going UP

I actually had this guy one time who had activated an old phone on his line because his other phone was damaged. I asked him why he didn't use his insurance to get another phone because he didn't want his insurance premiums to go up for other people. It wasn't for a sprint customer, but I thought that was rather nice
