I just want to see if other's have heard this or not. I'm starting to see it pop up from a couple different places. I have Handcent on my phone so I don't have to worry about it, but I was wondering if this was official or not.

That is kind of true. What happened was if you had an Enhanced Messaging (EMS) phone you could send a VZW customer with an EMS phone you could send one really large message to them and it would only count as one message for each other. When you sent it to someone without an EMS phone or non VZW customer no matter how much you sent they would only get the first 160 characters. This part was changed. Instead of sending just the first 160 it will send it in 160 character messages or chunks so they get the entire message

Yes.

"This impacts ONLY VZW customers with Enhanced Message handsets.

Messages sent with a message length of more than 160 characters to customers on other carriers will now be delivered in their entirety (up to 1120 characters) in multiple message segments of up to 160 characters."

Yeah, it has been removed. But BlackBerrys still have that 160 limit lock on it.
