Phony 4G Coverage Commercials
Oct 1, 2013, 3:17 PM
in the U.S. Cellular forum

If someone starts a lawsuit, please also sue them for their stupid commercials touting one of the largest 4G coverage areas available. That is total BS and their own map proves it. They have a decent chunk of 4G service in the midwest (minus Chicago, which is ridiculous), but nationwide, the 4G service is basically non-existant and a total joke. I really am starting to hate this company.

Dropping Chicago seems like a great way to keep your brand strong. Bring on the hate USC drones.

I left US Cellular because I got tired of all of the brain washing they tried to do with all of their stupid training sessions and propaganda meetings. The "dynamic origanization" is a total joke and I don't miss working there at all, although the pay was decent. Also my managers couldn't think of a decent idea to save their lives, but yet still refused to listen to alternative suggestions to improve the store. Perhaps things have changed though ...

you could always do what half the a**holes in Milwaukee do and transpose 2 of the digits in the last 4 of your social security number US Cellular's system is so jacked up that you'll probably get approved with X class, $0 deposit with "no credit history" good luck

its probably because US Cellular is a tiny little company that is pretty much irrelevant on a national scale. If you look up the phone itself, the Blackberry 8530 (not the 8350), you will see US Cellular as a listed provider for that phone.

correction...existing customers can charge to their account. New customers must pay up front, and the reason is because the chargeback ratio is much higher with new customers than renewals and if we allowed everyone to bill to the account, we'd be out some pretty expensive equipment when the time came around for people to pay their first bill and they just opt not to...which happens more than you might think.

you are pretty much SOL, but you may have an option to "buy out" the rest of your contract, or even pay the full $150 ETF and then get the discount again. If you can find one yet today, you should get it for the $70 holiday weekend (plus whatever ETF you have), but tomorrow it will go back to regular price...and most stores have been out since Friday.

if you call into customer service or stop back by the store you bought it from during the 4 day sale, they will price match it because you are still within your 30 day guarantee!!

Technically speaking, the 27th would be Day 1, so your 30th day would actually be today, making Friday Day 32. That being said, you've already admitted to exchanging once and your 30 days does not restart from the exchange date...it stems from the original contract date (the day you got the Tritan), so sorry, you're not likely to get the price guarantee...but there is no harm in trying

keep drinking up that koolaid. Yes, USCC is a good company for service, network, and even price, but its phones suck and the excuse of "quality testing" is really getting old. How many phones have been pulled in the past 2 years after initially being released because of issues? Far too many!

who cares if it gets out. Fliers have already been sent to customers and its not like any competitor is going to match it anyways. Every carrier will be doing their own promotion that weekend.

1) yes, they always have had activation fees, but they have been waived for extended periods, such as was the case with family lines for all of 2008 until Day 1 of Project Mythos - so therefore, yes they DID bring them back, which was stupid. 2) no, plan rates did not increase with mythos, but the majority of the phone prices did increase on Day 1 of Mythos. Also, text messaging doesn't hardly cost the company anything, so ...

As stated yesterday, I agree you should be allowed out if you really want out that bad, but mentioning a class action lawsuit over a $0.05 increase in an optional feature was a bit over the top.

Re: Getting out of ETF
Sep 23, 2008, 11:26 AM

If you had the unlimited family text package for $19.95, then you are grandfathered in and are able to keep it (rather than being placed onto the new $24.95 unlimited family text package). If you were on the $0.20/message pay as you go text plan though, then you will now pay $0.25/message outgoing (with incoming still being free).

The credit classes vary by the market you are in. In the central region, both X (no credit) and K (very little credit) are $0 deposit.

at first I didn't like this posting as it sort of seems like you are just whining about a $0.05 jump in text messaging, which you aren't even using on the line you wish to cancel, but after thinking it over, I'm glad you are trying to beat the system and wish you good luck in doing so. USCC came out with mythos only a couple months ago, and since then felt the need to increase phone prices, bring back ...

aside from faster data transfer speeds (which are coming to many markets by the end of next month), what exactly is better about Verizon?? To compare Verizon to a BMW and USCC to an optionless Kia is just stupid. I'm not going to knock Verizon, as I think they are a good company and will probably one day buy us out, but as it stands right now, for the same price, USCC has far more "options" than Verizon does in terms ...

Re: IT IS TRUE YOU CAN GET OUT OF CoNTRACT RIGHT NOW!!
Sep 22, 2008, 4:22 PM
in the U.S. Cellular forum

I have to agree that USCC should be letting customers out of their contracts without ETF if they do not agree to the unnecessary price increase. However, I would caution that you call into customer service and discuss your options with them before simply porting out to another carrier off of the advice listed above. And also note that your giving up good benefits like 7pm nights/weekend AND free incoming calls/texts if you go to Verizon as KJ recommends.

in most markets, class X (no credit history) is granted with $0 Deposit...so yes, he can most likely do the change of responsibility with no early termination fee, no deposit, and no activation fee!

adding value for whom? The customer or for ourselves?? The fact that we may be equal too or cheaper than our competition wasn't the purpose of this post. The fact that it costs USCC virtually nothing for customers to text each other shouldn't warrant a price increase.

So go to Tmobile then. If I never had to deal with another loser prepay customer, I'd be a much happier person.
