Re: Why??
The phone isn't anywhere near the same as the Bold 9000. The processor is a lot faster (which is speaking volumes, since the 9000's processor is still acceptable today), a touchscreen has been added without having to deal with a slider function, there are changes to the OS (which will probably be very welcome), and you also get to have more internal memory, meaning that your phone will be able to do more things at the same time.
We ...
Hmm...
This phone's actually simple enough to be really cute.
Why am I actually intrigued by this?
Re: With Android 1.5?!?!
No, the failure here is the Sept. 31 date on the phone's calendar. Smartphone, my behind :p
Re: SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICKKKKKKKK
I'll take this moment to:
OHHHHHHHHHH MAIIIIIII GODD!!!!! I WANT THIS THING RIGHT NOW.
I actually jumped off of my chair and screamed in joy when I learned this phone existed. AND it's even for my ATT!!!
Re: No thanks Blackberry for the Win Just wait for WES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I would sell my child for that phone. Especially if it had a 5+ MP camera.
Well, maybe not mine. But certainly yours.
Re: No thanks Blackberry for the Win
My 9700:
* Needs a touchscreen. Like the Epix, but usable.
* Needs a better camera.
* Needs Opera Mobile pre-installed.
* Needs to change the DAMN DOLLAR SIGN into a period.
* Should have come with a $200 gift certificate to colorwarepc.com
And I'll be the happiest Dre ever.
Wow...
I'll be honest. I don't even LIKE Sprint that much, but I've got to give MAJOR props to them for hooking up with Clearwire.
These guys have been ALL OVER the place in the last couple of years.
Re: looking forward to this
Whatever happened to that whole "Android isn't quite ready for the big time" or whatever crap that was that Sprint spouted out?
First Sound...
Now this?
How's about we just get enough of a NORMAL battery to make my G1 worth the effort?
(I'm not mad at the idea of these, but this year's been so boring as a whole that it almost seems like everyone's grasping at straws to be innovative)
Re: I have a question!!
Too much work.
Use speakerphone mode.
NEVER run out of battery again.
Re: I will never be without cell power...
Zing.
Random chick: hey, what are you doing?
Me: How the HELL did you get my number?
Random chick: oh, off of myspace.
Me: (insert rant about how I can't stand underage girls, MySpace, or the movie Twilight)
And this, thanks to technology, is now a useful conversation.
Re: Looking Good Nokia
I. Want. Two.
Re: Is 750,000 units realistc???
Honestly, 3/4 of a million is a bit much.
BUT:
* Kids love Sidekicks. Sales.
* Smart people love Google. Sales.
* Young folks love touchscreens. Sales.
* Families love 3MP cameras. Sales.
Not gonna lie, I'm stuck on a FlexPay, but I'll be shelling out the full 400-whatever they're asking on day one.
Hopefully they actually SELL the white version, 'cause that phone is effing sexy.
Tell AT&T I said to stop hating.
Clearwire's still small and cute.
Let it slide, AT&T ... let it slide.
Haters.
(I use Clearwire, so I'm just hoping for a little better coverage.)
Unfortunate
I actually had one of these for about 4 days.
I had intended to get it and sell it to someone else (once I had gotten myself a 6800), but I couldn't even do that to my friend.
Reason is, it's a messaging phone. Fine.
The Facebook application is kind of nice, but it's not accompanied by its sister site, MySpace. Actually checking for MySpace using the phone's RTT browser does nothing for the Rumor, either.
When you use ...
Re: maybe next year
Oh god, I forgot all about that phone.
Maybe if Samsung could fit that camera onto a BT-capable watch the world would be a better place.
(SAMSUNG: that was ONLY A JOKE)
Re: 2 year contract.....
course .. they dont let you get out of the etf unless they REALLY screwed up on their end
i worked at a 3rd party retailer for a year and i only managed to get an etf waived twice (and both of those were REALLY att's fault)
Re: Truely revolutionary in the market
Same here.
Hopefully the Google OS makes life a lot easier, especially for smartphones and mid-range mesasging phones (Blasts, Rumors, things like those).
Hell .. if we're lucky, it won't take up as much space as WM6 but will be compatible with all the nice third-party apps we love *wishful thinking*
Re: IF you want 3G services today....
... or a phone as marketable as a Sidekick. Or a plan like MyFaves. Or a no-deposit option like FlexPay.
3G finally arriving on T-Mo is a big deal, you big hater. T-Mo really isn't that bad, unless you live out in the sticks. In which case, that's your fault anyway.
Re: Looks Like...
Me either, but Sprint does need a messaging phone or two.
Dear Sprint: it's going to take more than one (especially LG) phone to beat out Verizon's messaging phones. Maybe an HTC smartphone with CDMA?
Re: screen colors and quality
Flashing lights in places other than the trackball
3-inch screen (a whole inch bigger, and already 1230984035 times better than the SK3)
Included MircoSD (not that big, but still...)
Flashing camera
Swivel > Slide. It IS a Sidekick.
To me, not worth an extra 100, but I'd definitely spend an extra 50. Actually, I'd probably spend the 100 on the screen alone .. you can see vast improvement over the SK3 by just looking at the picture provided :p
Re: Someone has to say it...
Shhh ... we don't talk about the internet.
Maybe 3G will be reality by the time the Sidekick 4 comes out (the official SK4, not the LX .. I don't wanna hear it).
Re: Could have sworn it was a Smartphone...
Smaller looking, younger feeling. Smartsavvy is in.
Re: Bandwagon
...Sidekicks...
Re: t-helio???
(S)he was just making fun of T-Mobile for "trying to be like Helio," that was no indication that T-Mobile would join up with Helio.
Re: ? on u.s version and 8gb version?so does that mean?
EGDE = 2.6
3G = 3
go by that scale .. fast enough to be noticeable, but still not fast enough to not piss you off
as for pricing, unlimited = unlimited .. the exception is tmo, and youre obviously not using them (good man). call at&t and let em know when youre coming to the continential states so they can make any adjustments they do when giving you 3G so you dont have to worry about pricing issues.
coverage .. good luck. ...
Re: wow
well, actually .. we're talking about the older folks here, not the 14 year old girls who go ZOMGSIDEKICKIIIFTW!!!
these are the people who will actually care about the plan and how much theyre paying for a service theyre not even using all of the time
on that note, both tmo and especially sprint kick the crap out of verizon
oh yeah .. so do most pay-as-you-go plans
tmo prepaid ftw
Re: sprint already has this plan... so?
Power Vision 1
All other US internet packs 0
EVDO on nonugly fones ftw
Re: Good Looking
Sidekick ID

Bottle Opener
Seriously. I want this phone SOOO bad now.
Only for the bottle opener. If I can get the GSM version for T-Mo .. it's over.
Actually, the dual thumbwheel thing is cool too, but I really want that bottle opener.
Re: Quality?
Haha, explains why a lot of my songs sound like crap :(
Re: Quality?
HAHAHAH .. go to your music folder right now and listen to an AAC+ song, change its format to a 192kbps MP3, and compare the quality.
Now remember the fact that most AAC+ files are either 48 or 64kbps. Take that quality and chop it in half.
That's about what Beatnik is gonna give you.
For their sake, I hope I'm wrong (I listen to a lot of uhn-tsh type music), but I'm pretty sure that's the way it's going to ...
Re: Finally!
HAHAHAHAHAHAA
OH, man .. I was actually thinking of Night Rider LONG before I would've thought about coming up with a Dick Tracy reference (hey .. I'm only 22 here).
I love where this thread is going.
Re: SIM CARD
Ugh, nevermind. Just now read the other thread. I assumed this meant that Sprint would finally be getting a domestic GSM phone.
(I can hope...)
Re: SIM CARD
Yeah, I know about the usage of a SIM card for international plans. I'm just saying that the REGULAR usage of a SIM card for Sprint is a bit overdue.
SIM CARD
Sprint plus SIM card equals win.
Three full months behind Verizon, but Sprint gives customers that about-damn-time that everyone's looking for.
About time, Sprint. About time.
Re: So, let's see...
Motorola Razr V3Sun, here we come. Kill me if I ever have to sell one of those ...
Re: Does anyone know...
Hahahaha, right .. I was actually thinking of someone sending a moaning woman tone to me while at one of my jobs and ... well, that wouldn't make for a fun time (maybe with friends, it would be hilarious, but not on the job).
I'd assume it would be the recipient's phone settings that SHOULD control the volume of the ring, but if the person sending a call can control the ringtone, (s)he might also be able to control the ...
Does anyone know...
[] Would this feature work on someone else's phone if that phone, for whatever reason, won't allow the setting of mp3s as ringtones (i.e. Sidekicks)?
[] If there will be a way to disable the possibility of an at-work prank (other than turning your phone off)?
[] Who controls the volume of this feature (the caller or the receiver)?
[] What kind of charges would be accumulated from using this service (per-push, per-tone, etc.)?
Re: This doesn't make any sense to me...
There aren't enough Japanese-Americans who would use the service to make a Japanese-only market reasonable.
However, when you account for the VAST number of American kids who love anything and everything Japanese (think about all of those kids who get their anime hoodies and things at Hot Topic) and then the actual Chinese and Korean customers who will be marketed to in the next few years, this seems like a very profitable idea.
I'd choose to integrate a vietnamese interface ...
