There's no mention no whether the quality remains the same as (or comparable to) that of MP3. Does anyone know?

it repeats things, I REALLY hope this doesn't catch on. at this point there's no reason for it unless you want as much music on your phone as you do your big ipod and if you want that much music and don't care at all about the quality then you really shouldn't have a say.

I think it will, because music downloaded from the sprint music store is on a lower compression rate than an actual mp3

HAHAHAH .. go to your music folder right now and listen to an AAC+ song, change its format to a 192kbps MP3, and compare the quality.

Now remember the fact that most AAC+ files are either 48 or 64kbps. Take that quality and chop it in half.

That's about what Beatnik is gonna give you.

For their sake, I hope I'm wrong (I listen to a lot of uhn-tsh type music), but I'm pretty sure that's the way it's going to work.

i don't think Beatnik would benefit itself by comparing it to mp3 without having comparable sound quality...
