Re: 2005 called............
There are still a lot of people who refuse to get a smart phone.. Some even still cannot due to their jobs. (Jobs may discourage mobile phone usage or have certain mobile phone requirements.)
I know for a fact employees at Boeing have not been allowed to even have phones with Cameras, this is especially true of those employees who work on Boeing's Government Contracts.
Re: N95 not at att
Most of the time that I speak with a Nokia "Rep," they apparently have no clue what they are talking about-since I get disputing information from the at&t Rep. Nokia doesn't normally hire its own reps, they are 3rd party people who really don't have any communication with Nokia directly. The card haded to me had Nokia and CCS on it.
Re: The cons that have become glaring, some reviewed in the article.
This seems to be becoming more common of the newer VZW phones. People started noticing these kind of "progressive issues" since the E815 came out. Doesn't help that the Razr only helped scream that something is going on.
Re: THIS PHONE SUCKS CANAL WATER CHECK OUT THE AT&T LG VU
From what I would say I see, The Vu does look similar, but appears to be smarter in quite a few areas.

Re: Not really a problem, if it is this..
There's actually been issues within the network over the past year or so when the line actually goes dead long enough to make the person have to repeat themselves. It does depend on market area, and the actual coverage available, but it is happening.
Re: Does anone have this problem?? -- Please Help!!
When I was on Verizon here in Belleuve, WA (edned in December) I had the E815, and that was always an issue from week 2 on through the end of my contract.
It is not the handset. I fear it is the network, when calling VZW phones from my new Net10 phone (using at&t Network), theres a lenghty pause as well-which does not happen when calling anyone else.
It could have something to do with the network shutdowns VZW did ...
Re: US Cellular/Alltel Takeover of Sprint
Alltel is now in control of private firms, half of them refusing to let Verizon have Alltel simply because of what Verizon did with its own network.
They really don't want to see the Alltel customers get screwed by suddenly NOT having coverage where they used to. (Mind you, most of Alltel's network is AMPS or D-AMPS.)
Re: Tracfone Nightmare
Funny, activating Tracfone got easier. They do it over the air-at least with the GSM Models, which is the majority of their lineup.
Re: to bad
Until Cricket hits national levels, which most likely won't happen-at least not in our lifetime-will they get phones sooner.
Manufacturers generally make phones for the largest number of possible customers first, generally why GSM gets phones like this first.
Re: NOT Coming
If it is not coming, then please explain why it is currently for sale in Sprint Stores and Radio Shack locations. (I've checked both places.)
Re: Would you move to Sprint from Verizon Wireless
The last time I updated my phone on VZW before switching to Net10, it gave me less coverage.
Re: Then please explain:
True statements made above. To top it off, Verizon's AMPS coverage was actually a large part of their coverage area. Where is it today??
Verizon put plans to shut off AMPS in 2005, cutting coverage to a large enough amount of people nationwide-that their starting retailer (RadioShack Corp.) raised concerns. When Verizon didn't show any concern for the number of people that were sold into VZW due to the large analog coverage, RadioShack began looking for alternatives. ...
Re: Then please explain:
*smirks* Wow, thats a powerful statement there. I do have to agree completely. The majority of the "Sprint" customers leaving-if you actually read their investor papers-was tracked down to iDen.
The response to make up for this was too slow, and so people that were on Nextel during the merger suddenly felt that Sprint was bad. Even though it was the Nextel network. Looking upon Nextel's history, this problem as been rather big for Nextel. ...
Re: Verizon and their Truly Unlimited calling is a big time joke!
"I keep reading about the remarkable coverage they have but according to the maps I read most of it is achieved piggy backing off of Verzion's towers. I know most of the carriers do this to a certain extent but their Sprint native coverage doesn't look much better than TMobile's. No one claims that TMobile has the same coverage as AT&T just because TMO leases towers from them. Why does everyone say that Sprint is basically as large as ...
Re: Verizon and their Truly Unlimited calling is a big time joke!
The IN minutes refers to Mobile to Mobile calling, which so far only T-Mobile doesn't offer that in all their plans.
Re: Sprint Call Quality
I agree with this one.
Re: Sprint getting rid of Nextel??
Although Sprint has dropped the Nextel name, I personally cannot see them dropping iDen Completely.
Most of the iDen only phones are currently being replaced by Power Source phones, which run on both CDMA and iDen. I have seen a growing number of said Power Source phones.
A personal thing that I have noticed:
Sprint was boasting a total coverage of over 295 million people nationwide last year on CDMA. That has gone down to 262 Million this year. ...
Re: Sprint getting rid of Nextel??
Oddly enough, there are quite a few Markets where Sprint seems to do a lot better then Nextel.
This is in regards to a conversation I had with a gentleman in my market who has Nextel, and his wife has Sprint. He's kinds stuck with Nextel for work, but he told me his wife's phone worked a lot better.
Of course, me finding that a bit ironic now that I've seen the latest numbers from all the networks. I ...
Re: Tmobile VS Sprint
I would say that the decision is really yours. T-Mobile currently is in 3rd place on national coverage. Sprint holds 2nd place iDen and 4th place CDMA.
These are just national numbers, so I would check to make sure T-Mo would work where you would use it the most (without roaming) before decided to jump.
Sides, someone said Sprint people were flocking to T-Mo. Not in my market, they either upgraded or moved to at&t. Currently the ...
Re: update roaming network
I'd say that was straight forward and helpful. Thank you.
(Would, have posted the same thing if you didn't beat me to it.)
Re: Does anyone know when the Verizon will get the Curve?
Odd, the user seems to only be asking if the Curve will be available to VZW anytime soon. Maybe they like the Curve and would love to use it on VZW.
So why must you all bash someone with what seems like an honest question??
Oh wait-now you are going to bash me for asking you that. That's the thing I've never really liked about the "fanboys" of any provider.
Stick to fact, truth, and stop bashing each other. ...
Re: Stuck between a rock and a hard place
Before making an ultimate decision, I would suggest checking out Drako's Wireless Review.
From there you can compare which providers can offer you coverage and service where you would be using it the most-at home and at work.
One big thing, look at home coverage. Even with agreements for no roaming fees, roaming can cause you problems. The review site has a full article as to why.
Considering you are living in at&t territory for land line service, I would ...
Re: Data plan prices
What reliability??
VZW currently has the smallest coverage area nationwide.
I don't see how someone who covers so little can truly be "reliable."
Of course, you seem willing to believe the hype and not dive for the truth...so I can spoon feed it to you-or let you find it on Drako's Wireless Review. (Which is a fact based site.)
Here in Bellevue, WA-right next to the VZW campus there is not only no coverage for VZW-its so non-existant that coverage data goes ...
Re: LMAO -> WIMAX interferes with satellite signals in the C block!
heh...you fail to realize that it could also be false evidence to keep the satellite industry running.
What with Sprint currently offering pretty much every channel available on Satellite on their phones-live. It's no wonder something like this would come up in regards to a technology that will only improve the speeds to allow better video streaming.
All we need to do is wait and see what the people over at the WiMax camp say in responce. If you ...
Re: LMAO -> WIMAX interferes with satellite signals in the C block!
I have to agree. Considering you VZW fanboys are willing to accept Verizon's Claim to being an industry leader.
They've led in nothing-point blank.
Sprint started their wireless services in 1995 as the ONLY national wireless provider. Everyone else joined the game 2000-2001. Sprint has a leg up there.
Sprint bought Nextel primarly for the iDen Network, and from what I've seen-they are trying to buy complete rights to iDen from Motorola. This wasn't a mistake, WiMax is ...
Re: how come I have good EV but bad 1X
"and please realize that the signal strength indicator on your phone is not a representation of the likelihood of completing a successful call."
Very true, even if you have good coverage you could still not be able to connect-or (as what happens to apparently a lot of people in my area on VZW) the call drops constantly.
However, if the indicator shows no service, or close to none, the chances of connecting go down until you get "No Service" and your ...
Re: Anxiously awaiting Verizon's arrival in Charlottesville, Virginia!
Something to consider. If you subscribe to Satellite TV or Cable TV. Dish, DirecTV, Comcast, ect. I've seemed to notice that they are advertising everyone willing to pay them, regardless of is service is available in your area or not.
That's the thing with national advertising, you can get someone's hopes up by advertising a product that will never arrive in your area...but exists somewhere in the country.
I've noticed this with Alltel here in Bellevue, WA on ...
Re: Siemens Great, but AT&T kills the deal
I find this posting rather ironic. Considering that my research has put at&t Mobility (Which should never be confused with the old AT$T Wireless or AT$T Corp.) in the leading rank of national coverage.
I will not say that it is a personal issue of yours based on your location, but coverage numbers so far cannot lie.
Lets look at this years numbers shall we?
at&t (the new one)-293 Million people covered nationally. 96%
Sprint CDMA-262 Million 86%
Sprint iDen-274 Million 90%
T-Mobile-268 ...
Re: Is Boost Mobile Coverage any good?
Boost runs on The Sprint iDen and CDMA Networks, which according to our research for this year Rank 2nd and 4th Place in National Coverage.
Looks like were still in a 5 network game here. Only theres now 4 providers nationally.
Re: The Only Tracfone Thread You Need To Read
There are many, many things to consider when choosing your wireless service. Usage is only one of them.
Pre-paid providers do well if you do not use the phone often, have credit issues and are not willing to pay deposits (or unable to), or need an emergency phone.
In regards to Tracfone, its best for users who want an emergency only phone, and do not have an e-mail account they check regularly. If they have an e-mail account, Virgin ...

Re: so when do they cut you off?
These plans will truly be unlimited for voice usage. Just like the others, unlimited data plans can also be added to it.
Of course, just like the others, getting cut off is based on how much you roam.
(International roaming doesn't count, since thats still extra.)

Re: verizon number 1!!!!!!
Verizon actually has less coverage than T-Mobile by population count. Putting Verizon at the bottom... (why else would a retailer with over 7,000 stores drop them)
Dont beleive me..check the facts on the websites or www.drakoswr.tk
Re: Setting The Trend
Actually..
#3 in coverage area by population count.
Not to mention that T-Mo is only following after VZW and at&t on this one. VZW is challenging Sprint to lower their Unlimited plan price.

Re: Unlimited calling but cap on data?
Verizon's cap was limited..
at&t recently put a fully visible 5GB cap on laptop connect data.
Re: Nice to see objective reporting
The Press release does state and I do quote that the plans are available on "all devices" which would include PDA's and smart phones.
Re: Don't worry! BC and QC will settle, and the ban will be lifted!
sadly, BC develops WCDMA chipsets, meaning that shutting QC down would not hurt BC, but bring them business from the manufacturers of the phones. That is a big bonus to them and carriers that use WCDMA.
On the other hand QC is the only developer for CDMA, meaning that CDMA carriers would need to change technologies, or be left behind. To this respect, BC has already begun inforcing the ban. Which explains why Sprint and at&t are ...

Broadcom refuses to settle until Qualcom is no longer in business.
