US Cellular/Alltel Takeover of Sprint

Imagine, Alltel, which was just recently bought by a large private equity firm, acquires US Cellular and then Sprint.

With nationwide EVDO and WiMax, the Alltel/US Cellular/Sprint empire would be the only true competitor to Verizon's LTE roll-out, leaving AT&T in the dust.

Nice thought but it would never happen. But it will be intresting to see what happens to alltel. I see them selling out to verizon but you never know what mite happen. Us cell will remain its own company at least untill are ceo leaves. after that well who knows.

Alltel is now in control of private firms, half of them refusing to let Verizon have Alltel simply because of what Verizon did with its own network.

They really don't want to see the Alltel customers get screwed by suddenly NOT having coverage where they used to. (Mind you, most of Alltel's network is AMPS or D-AMPS.)
