LG VX-8100

If and when the VX8100 is released....would the phone show up on the Verizon Wireless website and in the store at the same time or would the stores have it before the website shows it as available?

Just curious to know if I should keep paying attention to the Verizon Wireless website or not to see if its out.

Serious question. Why all the hype about the VX 8100? Is it offering some new cutting edge technology, some ground breaking new features? Will I be able to just think about calling somebody and the phone will dial the number? Fact is, this is just another camera phone with "restricted" features so Verizon can cash in on all of us. Limited bluetooth, all about the money for VZW!!

Yes, I need a new phone. Yes, I like the VX 8100. Does that mean when it finally comes out I will be able to do something that has never been possible before? NO, I will still be able to call somebody and send the occasional pic/text message as before.

I'm trying to decide between phones. Aside from size, weight, style, etc.. it seems one distinct difference between the 815 & 8100 are the features; 'PCSync, SyncML, & Data Capable.

Admittedly a novice, these seem to be a pretty big deal... especially since I travel a lot w/ a laptop and would like the ability to use a cell phone as a travel-modem.

Can anyone shed light on these features, exactly what they are, and if the 8100 has any competing features in this regard?

😛 😛 Spoke with VZW in North Carolina, (supposedly all releases originate from there). They admitted to the 8100 but would not or could not givie me a release date. She said check back in a week or so. As far as the e815, they know nothing about it. Take it for what it's worth.

well im usually in the E815 forum but i thought i'd stop by lol, just funny how the release date on phonescoop doesnt say verizon wireless: tentative. Just curios why it doesnt??

Got to play w/an 8100 at the BREW conference last week at LG's booth. This is definitely the phone I'm getting. (Like it much better than the 815.)

Everything the 8000 has with a slightly smaller screen (but note, higher resolution! the pixels are squeezed together tighter), external speakers, headphone jack, miniSD card, bluetooth, and 512MB of ram.

Feels much more like a 6000 than the 8000 in your hand.

It's gotta tell you something when even the LG reps are drooling waiting for commercial release.

This is probably a stupid question, but does anyone know if this phone has (speech)voice-to-text recognition? That would be nice if it did. If this phone doesn't, are there any phones that are being released in the next 3-6 months or so that will have this technology?

Lastly, does anyone know if this feature is even worth having?

I would like to know what everyone is gonna buy. The guys over on the e815 forum are all saying that the e815 will be superior especially in battery like, menuconfigurationa, and reception. What do you guys think of this and which one are you leaning towards when they come out in eight years.

not one person in here including me has any positive information about anything all i ever hear is the 8100 is a piece of crap or itll never be released. man ive never heard so much negative imput by a group of individuals!! 🤣

Is it possible the release date for the VX 8100 might be later than 2nd quarter?

Only reason I ask is that someone posted that the LG VX7000 was on LG's site and said under it coming soon before it was released. Now the VX8100 is not even up to that point yet. So I ask...is it possible this phone may not come out til after the 2nd quarter of this year?

Of course I could be wrong.

I am sure this has been answered, but i was wondering if the phone must be opened for the speakerphone, and if the voisedialing works like the 6100 with the voice commands or if it is like the 7000/8000 with just plain voicedialing? I got tired of reading through threads so if anyone out there has a demo i would love to know? thanks

I can't believe the stupid $hit you guys get into fights over. Who cares when the damn phone comes out??? Is there really anything you can do about it??? Just buy the 8000 and if the 8100 comes out within the 15 day return period get it. I'm sure we can all live sans bluetooth and mp3.

Ok so i may not be an employee of verizon but i think i know about some marketing logic maybe.... Lets look at release of Lg's 3 hottest and tech advanced phones the 7000, 8000, and soon to be 8100. The 7000 was released in the heart of the summer. It was the best phone you could get for verizon, (until that damned moto came out), That was on July first right before a big holiday when people want to spend money. The 8000 i feel was a rushed phone, as by the MP3 buttons being there, but no MP3. The 8000 was out there so LG could get their share of the new market of EV-DO for verizon. This phone wasnt anything special or diff from the 7000 except better camera and speaker phone as well as EVDO. So i feel this 8100 will be released hopefully in...

Talked to a customer service rep in a Verizon store near Pittsburgh, PA. My friend was there paying her bill and I just asked about the 8100 for the hell of it. The girl said that they had the phone in the back room but the release date keeps getting pushed back? Not sure if she was telling the truth or not but I didn't push the issue because I am patient and can wait...LOL...

Well, I talked to Verizon today and they said................................that if I didn't pay my phone bill I would not have anymore phone service...na, I am just kidding...I thought that I would start this thread to get some people going.

But I did talk to them to pay my bill and brought up the phone and she told me about phone scoop but noting in there system as we all know so well.

Information has been given to me, which is still trying to be kept secret from general publics, but Verizon is launching more EV-DO network at the end of June. Current information can only guarantee the Portland, OR/Seattle, Wa area. Take it how you want.

I wish everyone would just be a but more patient. The phone going to eventually come out. I want the phone just as bad a any of you. For all of you with new every 2 you have 6 months to claim it, so be patient.

One person said the phone might come out for a back to school special in july or so, and i think that the best estimate i heard on here.

Ok please I agree its stupid that they don't tell you about when things launch..Reason for this is something as simple as SUPPLY VS. DEMAND..heard of it??? Please stop calling the stores and asking it will be out just be patient...No its not being realsed in some part of the nation vs the other first... There will be one roll out date and its coming. Yes there are a few demos out and about but your not really going to see them..vzw doesn't test in stores they do this threw there Corporate offices for people who can keep there flapping jaws shut and not blab to the whole free world about the new phone.
