PCSync, SyncML, Data Capable... e815 vs lg8100

I'm trying to decide between phones. Aside from size, weight, style, etc.. it seems one distinct difference between the 815 & 8100 are the features; 'PCSync, SyncML, & Data Capable.

Admittedly a novice, these seem to be a pretty big deal... especially since I travel a lot w/ a laptop and would like the ability to use a cell phone as a travel-modem.

Can anyone shed light on these features, exactly what they are, and if the 8100 has any competing features in this regard?

Thanks!!

Motorola has always been very data friendly. There will also likely be much more available for the moto. I don't have much experience with the LG's as far as pc sync, but using your phone as a modem is a painfully slow connection unless you can find a way to make the EVDO work as a modem linked to your PC.
