Wow! Nuff Said?

Dec 23, 2005 by BroJim

First of all, there are NOT enough CONS on this phone to warrant lowering the score from a perfect five (5). There are too many PROS!

I am with Alltel. First of all, I live in a fringe (read rural) area and every phone prior to this one has had trouble receiving and sending from inside my house! Not this beauty!!! I am actually thinking about having my home phone disconnected...

Here is the list of PROS:

1) Small (duh!)
2) Light (another duh!)
3) Easy to read screen! (LARGE)
4) Menu - easy to navigate AND understand.
5) Phone book is easy to customize.
7) Speakerphone is superb!
8) Voice dial...BEST IN THE INDUSTRY.
9) Axcess Apps (faster than other phones due to the ability to access the Alltel HS network)
10) Camera (megapixel) and it does video too!
11) Text Entry (smart and NOT overly aggressive)
12) Great Ring Tones! (even more to download)

CONS
1) Side Rocker Buttons cannot be locked!
This is ok...I carry my phone in a case. =)

Here is a small list of phones I have been through to get to the V3c. They are:

1) Audiovox 8410 (0.5 of 5 stars)
2) Kyocera 3245 (1.5 of 5 stars)
3) Kyocera 5135 (2.5 of 5 stars)
4) Motorola V60 (3.0 of 5 stars)
5) Motorola T720 (2.5 of 5 stars)
6) Kyocera KX1 - SOHO (3.5 of 5 stars)

I also have a been through a few GSM phones from my employer. They are:

1) Sony Ericsson T300 (4.0 of 5 stars)
2) Motorola V535 (3.5 of 5 stars)
3) Motorola V66 (3.5 or 5 stars)

I know my cell phones...and even though this is the most expensive phone I have every owned, just remember this...you get what you pay for!

Merry Christmas!

not that great

I am already on my third, yes third razr phone. The first one had a faulty keypad and the number 3 wouldn't register unless you hit it really hard. When you would press call the phone did not respond. The second one didn't ring half the time when people called. Now this third one people say that I sound muffled unless I hold the phone as close to my face as I can. Maybe I've had a string of bad luck, but usually 3 times is a charm. I love the style of the phone and really wanted it to work, but I am considering just giving up. Battery life is terrible as well.

Love the phone! Don't like verizon limits.

The style of this phone is awesome. Small form factor with two shades of grey metal is stunning, functional, and feels good in your hand. Fits in your pocket well, feels comfortable while talking.

And it works great. Voice quaulity. Signal quality. Voice recognition software. Three alarm clocks. Speakerphone. The ringer sound. The menu design is good and the display is bright and easy to read.

I am replacing my Motorola V710, which was really too clunky for me. I like flip-phone style and should have hung onto my old startac flip phone until this one came along. There simply is no better design out there.

Pros: Everything mentioned above.

Cons: The limiting of Bluetooth technology and having as a substitute the MyPix (for a fee) interface from Verizon.

In closing, my four stars consists of five big happy stars minus one pissed off star to Verizon for limiting what Bluetooth technology really was designed for. And then offering the only alternative to be a program designed for a child, yet priced for an adult. MyPix is a joke. $4.95 for three silly wallpapers? And I have to keep your app installed on the phone or I lose them?

Just like all my other bluetooth devices I want this one to share with the others. It doesn't. You had a class action lawsuit for the V710 because of this. Please stop crippling the technology.

not bad

The razor is a sleek nice looking phone. It pulls good reception and fits easily in your pocket. If you are looking for the added features then this is not for you. I was fairly disapointed in the phone and i am going to stick with my 8100 for a little bit longer till something else comes out.

pros
-great size
-great look
-moto changed charging port!

cons
-camera is terrible, even at full 1.3 resolution and there is no flash?
-vibrate is poor
-speaker phone ok, but not to the quality of previous motos
-no 2.5 jack, never know you made need it someday
-button design, the phone is flat so i can complain to much but they are a little hard to get used to
-battery life
-i wish it had expandable memory, not going to knock it for this since i knew ahead of time it doesn't have it.
-display is terrible, the external display is almost useless, it is dim and hard to read, i used it on my 8000 and 8100 to read my missed calls without opening the phone and i can barely even read the time on the razor?
-Price 300-100 mail in rebate= $200 wow

All in all this is a nice phone, but in my opinion is if you are going to pay$200 plus for a phone with a two year contract then it should have a flash on the camera, expandable memory, good battery life, and a good display on it. Buy it for looks, don't buy it for features. I for one will keep my $200 and happily go back and keep my 8100.

If Verizon lowers the price then this would be a good phone for around $99 bucks.

Razr v3c - great phone, greedy service provider

Dec 22, 2005 by theemios

Pros-
-reception
-design
-size
-easily hacked
-OBEX enabled
-feels solid

Cons-
-Verizon's User Interface is ugly and designed to prevent you from fully using your own equipment by disabling features and changing Motorola's menu, all in the name of profit. This keeps the phone from being a 5 of 5.
-Most Bluetooth features disabled (see above)
-battery life
-some rattling when in vibrate mode

RAZR V3c for U.S. Cellular = Excellent!

Dec 19, 2005 by fincher

I have this phone for U.S. Cellular. Has S/W version GATW_03.16.02P and sports the Moto UI. Simply the best!

PROS:
- RF = Excellent
- Build. Excellent and it has the new USB charging port
- Menus. Very good if you're used to Motos. No ability to create shortcuts, though.
- Features. I use the Techno skin with a custom wallpaper
- BREW. Much faster than the v710.
- Bluetooth = Handsfree, Headset, OBEX File Transfer unlocked.

CONS:
- USCC graphics = lousy. The USCC logo at startup and the easyedge star logo are just lousy. Purely cosmetic but they do look sophmoric.
- External Display. Has gray bars on top and bottom so not all of screen is used.
- No ability to lock the keypad even though its listed in the manual.

This is an excellent phone and form factor. Love the fact USCC does not have a proprietary UI and the menus are snappy unlike the Verizonized UI. Battery Save option works great but I do charge nightly.

Well done Motorola and U.S. Cellular!!

RAZR: A Great Phone

Speakerphone
Battery Life

best phone (for now) on the best network in America

Dec 19, 2005 by locke322

Although some people are saying that this phone breaks easily, if people want to blame their mistakes on the phone, they should go pick up a sturdy Nokia brick that can handle drops on the floor.

That said, here are the pros and cons:

PROS:
- sleek, slim design (previously only enjoyed by GSM network users)
- Verizon-standardized firmware, as opposed to the Motorola standard
- second-generation Bluetooth technology
- the very fact that this phone is available in the U.S. markets on the most reliable CDMA network
- very clear voice quality in ear speaker

CONS:
- apparent bug in Inbox count-- there is no number in the message box that denotes how many messages have been received (S/W version GATW_01.0F.02)
- battery life-- with Bluetooth on, and with average use, I have to charge every day: 2 days without Bluetooth
- slow response on the buttons & menus, but not unbearable

Overall, I am just glad this phone is out for Verizon. Now I can flamboyantly sport my phone in front of my GSM-using friends. Even better, it's a little less weight in my pocket at the club. Best part is-- when I make a phone call from the club, my call will actually go through, as opposed to my friends who whip out their GSM RAZRs only to find no reception in the building.

Fabulous.
