Problem with new razor

Dec 11, 2005 by bman

Got the phone last night. Loved it for a short time. The clock doesn't work right on the phone. It doesn't keep the current time on the screen. If you push a button to check the time or just open it up it doesn't show the correct time until you do something like go in and out of the menu. Took it back and they check the display phone and it had the same problem. Looks like Motorola needs to do some more work on this one.

Very Happy

Received phone yesterday, 12/9, along with an LG for daughter. We have a problem with my husband's Verizon Samsung phone dropping calls at only our house and so have been hesitant to switch from cingular BUT the razr works great at our house (and on the road too!). Even showing only 1 bar got excellent reception and clarity...no dropped calls. Better sound than my current moto V505 which I loved. Have yet to work with interface but not too interested in mp3/ringtones anyway. The bluetooth was the essential for me as I use my phone both at home and in car (many hours).

Downside so far: difficult to tuck under your chin due to thin size (but that is what bluetooth is for).

Highly recommend if looking for good clarity and reception. Wouldn't suggest buying if you just want the "new hot phone" to show off as I was at the ice rink today and saw three others.

Don't listen to the kids

If you are looking for a great phone with good RF then look no further. If you are a LG toy person who needs a MP3 player on a phone and need the transflash to store your movies and such, then stick with the toys. Obex works out of the box and it is good enough for me. Don't listen to the kids that need a toy and not a phone. This is a phone not a MP3 player, that's what I have an IPOD for.

Here we go again

My goodness, I can't believe the naysayers are at it again. What were you expecting? You all had plenty of time to figure this one out. From the UI, bluetooth, etc, etc. Look, the bottom line is that this phone works very well in what it is advertised to do. No more, no less. Just a few Pro's to add here.

Call quality is fantastic! Non-users of the razor, do not listen to the naysayers in this forum until you try it yourself.
Speakerphone is adequate.
RF is fantastic, ignore the dang bars. Means nothing.
Battery life is the longest but this phone charges faster then any other phone I have used.
I won't go into the negatives because I knew full well what to expect. The phone works well.

This one is great

There must be a lot of moto haters out there who want to chime in and write a useless review because lg didn't think of this bad-boy! Let me tell everyone this phone is great. 1st off we will start with reception the signal indicator is different on this phone as compared to the e815 which I also own, but don't let that fool you this phone gets equal to better reception than the e815. I purposely took both of my phones to a spot where I know my e815 will crackle and most of the time lose a call the razr performed flawlessly, not one break-up and no drop! 2nd the design on the razor kills anything lg or samsung has ever thought of so don't hate moto just because they have a better design team! 3rd the menu isn't the best but it most certainly is no where near the worst, yeah the moto menu was ok but talk about unstable!!! This verizon ui is simple, easy to navigate and works well in a phone, meaning it's a stable ui. And last for those people reviewing here that tell you to look at the cingular razr to compare they really do not own this phone and they are the haters, because this phone doesn't even compare to the gsm version. For one thing the earpeice volume on this razr is 100 times louder than that of the gsm also this is a true 3g phone there's is like it's still stuck in the ice-age with exception to design. Let me tell you from someone who actually owns this phone it's the best verizon has to offer and it's no disappointment it is the coolest phone I have ever used and anyone here who actually buys one and gets a chance to play around with it a little will truly appreciate it!!! It's the best!!!!!!

Disappointed

I purchased a RAZR today. I currently have a E815. I am very sad to see that this phone has not lived up to expectations. The menu is very slow and there is a lot of navigating to send a text message. I like the ease and friendliness of the E815 much better. If the RAZR had the same UI as the E815 it would be a keeper. I am going to return it tomorrow. One thing I found better is that the vibrate mode is much stronger than the E815. Other than the size I feel my E815 is a overall better phone.

phone is horrible

i give this phone a 1 because of design. its a pretty phone to look at but the features are terrible. signal strength is almost nonexistent 0-2 bars was all i ever saw and while using mobile web and get it now i would constantly lose connection. i didn't even try the vcast because most of the time i couldn't get a vcast service. the keypad was annoying because sometimes you have to press a bottom several times to get a response.the menu system is the new standard verizon menu system but it seems to take a long time to move from menu to menu. there is no expansion slot for mp3s and only 30mb of memory but don't worry about playing mp3s because the speaker is weak a lot of distortion even at the lower volumes and the lower volumes are all you got to make matters worse there isnt even a earpiece jack so if you want to use a headset it has to be bluetooth. in conclusion if you need this phone because you want to look cool then go ahead and waste your money but if you actually want a real phone then get an moto 815 or lg 8100

Pros:

-Released weeks before the Verizon version
-Incredibly thin,compact size,perfect for a pocket
-Awesome reception, just as good as the V710 and E 815,but without an external antenna!
-Brilliant easy to read external and internal displays
-Bluetooth
-Crystal clear,landline quality calls
-Lifelike,rich stereo sound
-Super sharp,vivid 1.3 megapixel camera w/ 8x zoom lens(a huge improvement over the 710)
-Video capture and playback
-Wonderful Motospeak voice recognition(the best ever!)
-Sold and stable construction(unlike the flimsy 710)
-1000 phone number capacity
-Can be charged from your computer through a USB port
-Great speakerphone, can use with flip closed!
-Electroluminiscent blue easy to use keypad
-New charcoal grey(external)over sexy silver/light grey (internal)looks alot better than the GSM version
-Mp3 player
-30 mb memory
-Sweet polyphonic ringtones
-Good battery life,3hrs 30 min talk and 9 days standby
-Operates on up to date CDMA/EV-DO technology instead of crappy GSM networks
-Features Alltel's Mobile TV multimedia service which is just like Verizons but much cheaper($9.99 vs.14.99) and did I mention V Cast doesn't even work in Greenville,SC yet!!!

Cons:

-No memory card slot
-No data cable
-Only a single band, digital only phone
-Cingular is getting the 2 megapixel version (the v3x)sometime before the end of the year or early 06'
-Not compatible with i-tunes,but who really cares unless your an mp3 freak!

All you cell junkies go out and buy this state of the art phone,it's well worth the money($365 retail)

Nice Phone

this is a great phone. Gets great reception and has a clear speakerphone. Nice and big and the camera is nice.
Does anyone know how to transfer mp3's to your phone from your computer? Do you have to have software or what?
