Verizon fails us again.....

Dec 27, 2005 by jsherman02

I have waited patiently with Verizon to see if they would ever offer the RAZR. So, today I picked one up and I must say I am sadened by the lack of quality.

The original RZAR was a sleek metal-future-like phone. Verizon's version is PLASTIC, and is thicker then the REAL RAZR.

Verizon tells us all that they "test" the products so that they work perfect when they hit the streets.

IMHO, they cheapened the phone with the plastic casings and the interface. Is it me, or does VZW do things in the opposite direction of the market?

Would you rather spend $400 (retail) for this immitation RAZR or $150 to get out of your VZW contract and then spend $100 on a REAL RAZR through another carrier?

VZW should have their heads examined. They think because their network is one of the better ones, that we should be forced to deal with inferior equipment?

Not this guy. Bye-bye Verizon!

love it!!!!!!

I got this phone for Christmas and I love it. I have had the moto 720, samsung 530, lg 6000, samsung 670, lg 7000, lg 4500, lg 6100, moto 710, moto 815, lg 9800, treo, and back to the 815. It has great reception and works great. I am in northeast Ohio where reception isn't great and it works excellent. It is a motorola phone but it has LG software in it. Very strange. Knock on wood I have not had any problems with my phone freezing which is VERY common in Moto's. I like much better then my 815.

pros:
small size
good reception
good call clarity
decent picture quality
good preloaded ring tones
LG SOFTWARE
very bright keypad

cons:
exterior time is delayed until you hit outer buttons
can't take the red off the internal display
not very good battery life

Even though this phone has a few cons, it is still a solid 5 in my book.

RAZR REVIEW

Dec 27, 2005 by cdmamoto

I have been using cell phones since I started with Ameritech in 1995 with 60 anytime minutes and that's it. Wow have times changed. I have had Sprint, Primeco, Cingular, AT&T. I have had just about every cell phone out there. Verizon is by far the best network of any carrier. Now for my review of the RAZR. I had look at everyones reviews both positive and negative. For me, I am giving the phone a 5. This is a third generation RAZR. The phone has been through all of the test in order to be where it is today. Granted that the other two versions were GSM on T Mobile and Cingular, but the phone has been out for about a year. I am amazed at how so many people ran out and bought the RAZR then complained about it. No one forced you to pay the $299.00 with $100.00 mail in rebate for the phone. The phone is not a digital camera. The phone is not an iPod. The phone is not a voice recorder. The phone is not a PDA. My gosh what do user's want in a phone. The phone is exceptional. Motorola just didn't start making telecommunications devices yesterday, they have been around for a long time, and not by making shady devices. If you want the aforementioned items in a phone. Go out and by them separately. If you've bought the RAZR with Verizion, then I'm sure that you can affford all of the other items that you want in like PDA, iPod, digital camera, etc.

Best Phone Motorola Has Ever Made

I have been a Verizon customer for several years now. I have had the Startac 7868, LGVX 4400, 6000, 6100, 8100., etc. This phone has it all. Ignore all the other negative reviews. Excellent clear reception, excellent sensitivity, thin, light, cool looking, V Cast., etc. No phone is perfect but if you want a dependable phone that
talks and listens with reliability, this is the phone for you.

Don't waste your time with this one. . .

Worst phone ever! Went through two of them and decided to go back to my LG vx4650. Key pad is very unstable, calls most of the time do not even register; the phone just rings, battery life is abysmal, sorry ladies and gentlemen way too many flaws with this one!

It's not the E815

Dec 25, 2005 by mrex275

It's beautiful. About time that a phone is thinner than my wallet. I gave my 815 to Mom and every time I go over to show her something on it I get these pangs that I've done the wrong thing by switching to this version. A friend has the Singular black and loves it. It's much more like my 815 and even he expressed his doubts about this phone. Plus it's not working smoothly with my Jabra BT 250. The e815 was effortless and instant. I'm not much of a techie, and I hate to make a mistake. I loved the idea of having the new, trendy, and beautiful. But it feels like I've given something up. I'm still doing some research, but will return it by Wednesday if I'm not convinced by then.

Pros
Thin
Gorgeous

Cons
Dubious connect with Jabra bt250
Non intuitive ui.

DON'T BUY A RAZR

Dec 24, 2005 by jensen1011

There are a number of reasons why you shouldnt buy a RAZR V3C from verizon. One of the biggest problems with this phone is that you can hear yourself talk through the speaker when you talk. It isn't to the point that it echos, but you can hear yourself and its annoying. Also, the phone sucks to hold. I find it really hard to hold up to my ear and find a comfortable position. Also, be aware that when you put the RAZR in your pocket, the side buttons change the ringer profile (better hope that they don't change when you are in a meeting or church!!) That was one of the biggest concerns. Also, the phone lags. By this I mean that the time doesn't keep up on the external display unless you open the phone. It is a phone that is really bought because of fashion trend... It seriously though is a really really bad phone... Boo MOTO

Albeit a few bugs...for the price its solid

Verizon Razr:

pros-

1. slim/light
2. good speaker phone
3. good clarity/signal strength
4. aesthetically pleasing
5. good camera

cons-

1. meager battery life (attribute that to smaller battery due to size of phone)
2. no memory card (faster to transfer pix and can hold more data with a memory card)
3. feels fragile (obvious due to its design
4. has more bugs than an ant farm. numerous software problems exist which will be ironed out according to verizon techs.
5. General quality control issues:
battery clip can be found not very flush with rest of phone, distortion at high volumes, slow menu's at times, and a loose keypad. the keypad, battery clip, and static/distortion problems can all be fixed if you get lucky enough to find one that is actually produced with integrity.

overall, despite the cons, the phone does its job: its very small, has great reception, and has excellent clarity. just make sure to find one without the aforementioned non-software bugs.

It's all about the size-and obviously nothing else!

I've had the 8100 since it came out and love it, but with all the hype about the RAZR, I just had to get it! Now, I'm not going to complain about what it doesn't have, because I knew EXACTLY what it did and didn't have before purchasing it. I got it last night and thought I would love it and knew if I didn't, I had 15 days to try it out....well, I didn't need 15 days to know that I did NOT like it and it went back this morning!

PROS:
~Thin
~Descent size interior screen

Cons:
~Key pad is loose
~Menu button is hard to use w/out pressing wrong buttons
~Some key presses would not be recognized and needed to be pressed more than once
~Buzzing in earpiece
~Akward positioning on ear to hear well
~Exterior screen is horrible-pretty much useless
~Materials feel cheap and poorly put together
~Verizon UI is fine-knew it had it, but it's lacking some of the options that other phones w/ the Verizon UI have

I really wanted to love this phone and did give it a shot, but IMO it is not all it's cracked up to be, not even close.
