Phone issues

Since several of you now have this device are any of the new owners having the same or new problems that sdeetz had? Is the device freezing up? Is it running horribly slow? I'm trying to decide whether or not to purchase tomorrow and would love some feedback on what everyone thinks...

Home wifi (wep; 32- or 64-bit?)

Finally got my Tmobile MDA yesterday!! (Love it so far!!)

Trying to connect to home wifi (netgear 802.11b router/hub/fw) and haven't yet been successful. I notice that the phone setup doesn't ask for clarification of either 32- or 64-bit WEP. This, of course. dictates the length of the key, right? Seems as if I need to tell the MDA which it should be attempting to connect to. Any ideas? (Is my router outdated?)
Thanks!

Differences T-Mobile MDA and Cingulars 8125 ?

Well, it appears both of these are available for purchase today. There appears to be some differences in units - does anyone know what these differences are? I'm most concerned about the differences between the two releases of this device. If anyone wants to comment on carrier coverage too... I'm still on the fence between them. Thanks - Q

MDA - .mp4 video?

The user manual I have states that it supports *.mp4 video. I tried playing an .mp4 video that works just fine on the pc, but all I got was sound. Does anyone know if there are specific video dimension, codec or bitrate limitations on mp4 video playback?

Video
Ӣ Windows Media Video: *.wmv, *.asf
Ӣ MPEG4 Simple Profile: *.mp4
Ӣ H.263: *.3gp
Ӣ Motion JPEG: *.avi
Ӣ 3GPP2: *.3g2

Non-Camera Version Anytime Soon?

My company has a policy restricting phones with cameras.

Anyone "in the know" have first-hand knowledge of whether or not Cingular will release the version without the camera, and if so, when ?

I notice there was at least a couple months between releases of the Hp IPAC with and without camera ... maybe we'll see the same thing here with the HTC?

thanks

Group distribution lists in WM 5.0

Hey all,

Any idea how to sync my outlook group email lists on my cingular 8125 (qtek 9100)? I only have a few lists but it sure is helpful - I just switched from a blackberry which supported this feature (sort of, you had to recreate the lists on the handheld)

Thanks!

WiFi Configuration & Manually assigned IP address

I have an unlocked i-mate K-Jam device and I'm trying to get it to work with Wifi and having a lot of trouble.

After a lot of searching, I finally found the area in the Settings/Network Cards app that allows me to input the manual IP settings and DNS server IP address.

However, after I input that information, I get a dialog telling me that the settings will be used the next time I insert the card. Since the card in within the phone, it never seems to take the manual settings. If I look at the Advanced tab of the WiFi settings, it shows the proper network, shows a strong signal, but shows IP address 0.0.0.0.

I wind up having the same problem when I try to connect to an open network using DHCP, always shows IP address 0.0.0.0.

Do...

Cingular Customer Service BLOWS...

😈

Was on the phone today for 2 hours getting bounced from group to group to group in a vein attempt to purchase an 8125 as a replacement phone for my existing account.

Nobody I spoke to knew ANYTHING about this phone, they keep telling me to just buy it from the website, which is not what I want to do.

I do not want a new account, just a new phone; which I'm HAPPY to pay the full price of $449.00 for.

People on this forum claim to have purchased the phone for their existing account, HOW did you did it? You can't all be members of the Premier website.

VERY Frustrating.

Cool Tools

Does this phone do the cool tools that Cingular has? Items such as MyCast Weather and so on. We have the V3 Razr, but already having software issues as with most Motorol phone we have gotten from Cingular locked phones.

Any answers would be helpful. Found out I can probably get one on Monday. It just seems I get f'd everytime I buy a Motorola phone from Cingular.

First one was a lemon!

Was able to order this phone the first day it was available through B2B channel.

Arrived on Monday, as promised, but... After activation procedure, all the phone did when turned on was show a startup screen with the OS version code and 3 other codes.

After the usual runaround through customer service cues, I finally got a hold of someone in migrations in ND that was extremely helpful. We did a few 3-way calls with tech support and a other channels, but to no avail. He agreed to overnight me a replacement.

2 days and no replacement phone now - apparently the sim cards were back-ordered - unbelievable.

I hope the next one works!

As a brief review: The phone's size and shape were very pleasing to the hand and eye. Smaller, b...

2.5mm headphone jack?

Spec says it supports stereo. I assume the same jack can be used with a wired hands-free headset. Anyone know how this works? Are there four nodes on the 2.5mm plug to accomodate a stereo hands-free headset(eg. Shure i3C) Or, perhaps does is allow "either" a mono hands-free headset OR stereo headphones(without mic)? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
