There's an HTC Wizard blog

This has probably already been mentioned in this forum, but I just wanted to make sure everybody knows about this HTC Wizard blog:

http://htcwizard.westlands.org/ »

It's edited by a Scandinavian guy, but he writes in English very well, and it's an extensive and growing resource. This sounds like marketing copy, but I just think it's a great site for dorks like us who are obsessing over this phone. I swear to everything good and holy that I am not associated with it.

Enjoy.

Uninstall Problems

Has anyone figured out a solution to the problem trying to remove a program? I am using a T-Mobile MDA and installed some trial software which I ended up not liking. When I attempted to uninstall it using the Add/Remove Programs utility, I got a "uninstallation failed" message. I have tried soft resets and uninstalling from both my PC and my PDA with the same result. It also won't let me reload the software to get back to a known condition. I remember reading a while back about someone else with this issue but never heard of a solution. Thanks!

Any Registry Edits for this Phone

I was browsing the verizon board for the apache and saw that there are some registry edits for that phone. I was just wondering if those will work on this phone, or if anyone knows of a website that has a list? Thanks for any information 🙂

Anti-virus?

Is there a good anti-virus program that works well on this phone (preferably with a free trial period)? I tried to download an F-Secure trial version and it crippled my phone to the point where I could not send or receive calls (or find a network to connect to). I had to uninstall the anti-virus software to get my phone working again.

Thanks

Need more than a second opinion...

Hi, I've been looking into getting a new phone for a while now. I am considering venturing into the PPC or PDA/smartphone market. How well would I adapt to this devise and/or maybe others like it. I know I would make good use of the Windows 5.0 OS but highly doubt I'd need to add 3rd party apps just yet... maybe some games if i find any others. Should I consider this phone as my first? My cousin is on his second (replacement) treo and he is still unhappy with it...

I have done some research on the 8125 since the rep at the cingular store I go to mentioned it to me. Though he wasn't any more help then that, since he said he never tried the phone out himself, but he was "excited" for it to come out. whatever that means...

As far as I ca...

How is the screen in sunlight?

Anyone who has this phone - how easy is the screen to read when it is sunny out? My current phone is the Nokia 6600 and it is great except the screen is useless in sunlight. Any actual user experience would be greatly appreciated.

Opinions on lack of numeric keypad (hard)

What does everyone think about the lack of a hard numeric keypad on the front of the device? I was thinking that this would severly restrict "one-handed" use, such as voicemail without having to look at the keyboard.

If it wasn't for this, I think I would get it, otherwise I will have to get a Treo.

Question regarding Wi-Fi

OK - please be patient...

Can I connect to my wireless server (or any wireless server for that matter) with this device without subscribing to the additional service through a provider? (Does the connectivity function like a laptop?)

As many of you know many hotels, coffee shops, etc... have wireless connection. Do I have to subscribe to the addtional service provided by Cingular to take advantage of the connectivity at these locations?

I just want a device that works as a phone and a PDA while traveling but be able to connect to the internet without having to pay for additional service (I already pay for connectivity at home - and I am frugal)

Thanks!

When can you turn the speakerphone on?

I have had a Motorola V300 and you had to wait until the call was connected before you could activate the speakerphone. That was totally annoying. The best phone I've used as far as activating the speakerphone was the Nextel Motorola V66 - you could activate it immediately with a soft key.

I've read some of the reviews that seem to indicate people have used the speakerphone, so I am hoping that someone that has used it could help me out as to when you can activate it on this phone, especially if you're a T-Mobile user.

Thanks in advance.
