Please help me with managing my contacts

I recently got the MPX 220 to replace having a cell phone and a PDA. I use my Contact List for my work in sales and I need to be able to change the view. On my traditional PDA running windows CE I could view my contacts by their company name so when there are multiple contacts at one company they are grouped together.
Does anyone out there know how to make your contacts view by company name instead of their names? I would GREATLY appreicate anyones help on this small problem.

Cingular® Aware Of Problem(s)

According to a post on HowardForums (see link below), Cingular® is aware of the problem(s) and will not be selling the phone until the problem(s) is/are resolved.

Author of the post says he spoke with a Cingular® corporate store manager and was told they [Cingular®] were aware of the low volume problem and some other problems (that he would not disclose) and was sending any phones they had in stock (I suppose ones they had in stock for when they can sell them) back to Motorola®.

I certainly hope this is true because I love the features of this phone and want to get one again, but I do not love the quirks.

sounds like talking through a toilet paper tube

My bro just bought this phone and returned it. When I talked to him the sound was sorta monotone, distant (soft/low volume) and like he was talking through a tube into the mic.

heheh guinea pig ... I love sitting back and waiting for the reviews to pour in. Phonescoop rocks.

I'm going for the audiovox SMT 5600 now, except,.,.,., ATT wireless... 😳 bleh... SOMEONE UNLOCK THIS THING

mpx 220

I have a fairly inconsequential question about the mpx 220. Does it have the light-up color circle on the outside like the V600?

Thanks for you input in advance

Questions about this phone

Im thinking of getting this phone (to replace my SE t616) but I have a few questions about this phone. First of all, I do know about the poor camera on it but is it similair to the v400 or the v600? A bunch of people are saying that the phone takes about 2-3 rings to recognise a caller and to display it, does it really take this long? Also another question, are there any companies who are making a case for this phone? I havnt seen any cases anywhere that support this phone.
Oh and Im using cingular, in case you were wondering.

anyone have an issue with powering off?????

all,

I have had tghe 220 for about a week now and I notice that everytime I try to power down that the phone stays on! Not all the way on but enough so that the screen and keypad are lit and the outer display is lit with a motorola "M" logo.

None of the keys or buttons work when this happens and the only way I've found to power off successfully is by removing the battery!

Did I not read the owner's manual well enough? Any other similar experiences or suggestions?

HELP!

what a dissapointment

I presently own a MPX-200 and have been very pleased with it for the past year. I am a heavy user (about 4-5k min per month). However as i am in the cellular industry i have recently recieved in the cingular MPX-220. I took it home for the weekend and used it heavily for a couple of days. My overall opinion is why would motorola bring out a replacment for a phone that is worse than its predisary. (PS i Cant spell)

Bought and returned for the Audiovox

I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this phone since I first heard leaked rumors about it nearly a year ago. Sadly, the reality of the phone and the expectation just don't match.

I have both the Audiovox and the MPX220 in front of me, and sadly, the MPX is going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

If the phone were 25% smaller, the earpiece 25% louder and voice dialing through BT headsets worked, it would be the one at my hip instead.

I can live with the size, I can live with the below-par image quality on the camera and can even live with the excellent voice dialing not working via Bluetooth. But - first and foremost, this is telephone, and the earpiece and speakerphone volumes are just not acceptable. I maxed out the volume sett...

AT&T Release Date

I know others have asked, and I apologize in advance for repetition, but does anyone know if AT&T has a release date in retail stores?

Thanks for your help!

Cingular & the MPX220 internet & unbranding

😁

I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem withere mpx220 and the dial up connection. evertime i try to dial into my universities server it states it's unable to make/place a call. on my mpx200 i was able to and i'm not doing anything different. I was thinking maybe it has to be unbranded, because one of the cingular reps stated that it was blocked so we have to pay fore there internet service. I never trusts those reps. I feel I know more then them.
Also in time since the phone just came out, does anyone know if they will come out with the unbranding software. I imagine they would, just like they did for the mpx200.
Any help would be great.
Thanks a bunch

No Activesync over bluetooth

My PC shows that the MPx220 only supports the 'Dial-Up Networking' or 'DUN' bluetooth profile! Without a virtual serial port connection profile, I am UNABLE TO USE ACTIVESYNC over bluetooth! Am I missing something? Has anyone been able to sync over bluetooth with this phone, or even send files via bluetooth??

Volume

I keep hearing that the volume on the phone is low and that the speakerphone sucks as well. I've also heard that if you put the phone on outdoor mode that increases the volume on the phone. I now am using Samsung E715. Can anyone tell me if the volume is comparable to this phone?

HONESTLY....

How does the phone perform with respect to internal, earpiece volume... not external speaker?

I have been surfing Motorola threads for months and this seems to be a recurring weakness in Moto phones. I would add my experience w/Moto phones supports the notion that earpiece volume sucks. One exception.... V3 which I've had over a week and can say is great.

I am really tempted to buy the 220 but...

Here's the question for the technical folks here... is sound volume in the earpiece software or hardware driven? In other words, is it possible that a Cingular released version would feature updated software which may drive better performance of things like volume? If it's hardware then I would assume we are all screwed. 🙄

Tha...

I just verfied the Phone Sucks!

I just returned from Best Buy where I was allowed (thanks to the salesman handing me the phone while I waited for a customer in front of me to sign up} to insert my SIM and the battery and make calls. Tne volume on both, the earpiece and speaker phone are problems. The speaker phone is the worst, I had to put the phone up to my ear with full volume to hear anything and than there was too much distortion. The external ID stays lit for approx 5 sec. I was truly disappointed, took back my SIM and walked out the store.
The OS is great and the phone build was not disappointing.

Come on V3!!! 😎
