battery life on 6230

thought I'd check with some others on this ...

I've had the 6230 for about 2 months after replacing my 6360 and I love the phone but am finding the battery life on the 6230 much shorter than what I'm used to.

Is anyone else seeing this or am I the exception?

thanks

Los Angeles / Cingular / Nokia 6230?

Anyone use this phone in LA (South Bay and West LA primarily) on Cingular? How's reception, calls dropped, etc? I'm told that with the ATT/Cingular merger, calls on the GSM network sound great, and coverage is more widespread than when I was just with ATT, any truth to that?

Thanks!

Can you setup the phone to send pic from the cam to the MMC card?

As the title says, I want to take some pics using the camera feature and download the pics to my PC using my MMC/SC reader on my PC instead of using a MMS package or the data suite.

Downloads to PC Rather Than Phone

Does anyone know of any US friendly sites where one can download applications/games for the Nokia 6230 (either free or for a fee) to your computer and then using Nokia PC Suite load them into the 6230.

It seems that all the sites (especially game sites) I have seen only allow you to download directly to your phone. This entails purchaing not only the game but, for all practical purposes, also purchaing a data plan (Cingular has 1 cent/kb charge that rapidly adds up otherwise).

Though I really like my new 6230, I would like to not have to loose my program purchases should I purchase a new phone (that is still compatible with such programs) or if my 6230 crashes (which it has done already once).

Thank you in advance for your assi...

Nokia PC Suite Connectivity Problem

Hi friends,

I am running into little problem while trying to connect my PC and Nokia 6230 using Nokia PC Suite. I am not able to pair my PC with phone using bluetooth. My phone is not shown up in "Detected Devices" in bluetooth connectivity through this suite. Also my PC never shows up in available bluetooth device list in my phone. 😡 😡 Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Raw deal for Cingular and AT&T customers

As of today, you can get the Nokia 6230 phone for only $90 (after rebates) at Nokiausa.com and $70 at Amazon.com (after rebates) with only one year service commitment if you are switching over from another carrier. However, if you are an AT&T or Cingular customer, tough luck. The best deal you can get with one year service commitment is $199, even if you are currently not under contract.

The crazy thing is, I can terminate my service today, then get the 6230 from Amazon or Nokia ans start new service. I assume terminating my account, opening out a new account and potentially paying some kind of sales incentive to an online retailer will add up to a lot of cost for Cingular. For me, the pain factor is having to change my number.

It look...

Video

Can you transfer videos to the MMC card and play them on the phone? It looks like the 6230 accepts some 1GB MMC cards which would be more than enough for an entire movie.
If you can, what formats can you play and how is the video quality?

Set homepage?

Does anyone know how to change the homepage on the browser? I've had other Nokia's and been able to make Yahoo Mail (my usual destination) my homepage. It was very convenient but I haven't figured out how to do it on the 6230.

Thanks

Unlocking 6230: Any incompatible box serial code type?

Hi all,

I'm having trouble finding a correct unlock code for my Nokia 6230 on Cingular in Boston, MA. I think the problem may be related to the provider code I was using at first... Details are as follows:

PHONE = Nokia 6230
IMEI = 353372001838321
CARRIER = Cingular Wireless (Boston, MA, USA)
PROVIDER CODE / MCC-MNC = 31041000 (...or is it *really* 31017000???)
ASIC = Type 2
BOX SERIAL = 33820 (V2)

I was originally using provider code "31017000", as that's the code offered by ALL the code gen programs when selecting "Cingular" from a drop-down list of providers... Based on that, I tried the 7th and then the 1st codes:

#pw+849 941 673 731 043+7#
#pw+847 541 176 557 545+1#

No luck. Then I started to question the pr...

Nokia 6230

Looks like this phone has received rave reviews from the users. I am currently a Verizon customer with a Samsung SCH 670 phone. It's a nice phone, but for some reason Samsung does not believe in Speakerphones.

I am considering switching over to Cingular and getting this Nokia 6230 phone or possibly the Motorola V551 phone.

Anybody with opinions on both phones and how's the service/signal at Cingular?

Thanks,

Rewind and FF on Music Player?

Nokia 6230 is a great phone 🙂 . I was just wondering, is it possible to rewind and fastforward the MP3s or video files?

Thanks,
Eddie
