Nokia 6230

I've had my 6230 for about two months and am having a problem with incoming calls. Sometimes when people try to call me, all I can hear is heavy static, and they are forced to hang up and call me again. This only happens when I am receiving calls, and I'd say it's about 1/10 incoming calls, give or take a couple. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Complicating my problem is the fact that I'm in college in NYC, and my phone number/contract are at home, in Chicago, so I have a hard time getting things fixed. Thanks very much.

I have been told that you can use the 6230 to connect to the internet via WiFi. Is this possible? If so are there any charges involved?

When I attach the DKU-2 USB cable to my computer and install the drivers, I am finding that it somehow is intefering with the operation of DVD drive. After syncing a couple of times through the USB with my Nokia 6230, all of the sudden, my computer's DVD drive will not recongize DVDs or its CD/DVD write functions (it still is able to read CDs). This forces me to do a system restore to the point prior to installing the DKU-2 drives which appears to correct the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? (FYI: I am running Windows XP with both Service Packs installed).

when I purchased this phone 3 months ago I was told this was a world phone. Now I am going to South America and was told not only was it not a world phone but I could not use the phone in South America. Does anyone have any comments or know if this is correct?

can you set mp3s to be ringtones with this phone?

Does anyone else find the Nokia PC Suite software user UNfriendly? Is there any useful documentation anywhere out there?

Also, The cable and headset connectors seem hard to plug and unplug. Do you push straight in and pull straight out?

hi, is the only way of finding other bluetooth phones in the area trying to send a file and then letting your phone search for devices, or is there a way you can search for devices without actually sending a file? any help would be great, thanks. 🙂

I recently got my phone to retrieve emails (no small feat mind you) and am looking to make it only download the headers. This will cut down on downloads and only download the entire body of emails that I want. Anyone know how to do this.

Alternatively, if the phone would only download emails that I haven't already seen that'd be great too. I use a webmail platform that keeps the mail on the server if that helps.

Page 100 of my 6230 User Guide describes a feature called Automatic Volume Control. However, I cannot find this feature in my phone menu. It simply is not where the guide says it should be (Settings>Call Settings>Automatic Volume Control). Is my phone retarded, or what? Anyone else have this problem?

What headsets are great? Which ones are crap? I'd like to have a bluetooth headset for the car and I don't really want to buy a piece of junk.

Any thoughts or recommendations? And how long does it work with the batteries?

Is anyone using a phone case for their 6230? I got the standard one from Cingular but I don't like it. Any suggestions? Body Glove?

I have a new 6230 and bought a Moto HS820. They paired fine and it seems to work well, but on certain calls I make, there is a distortion in the Bluetooth connection or something. When the person talks, there is a garbled background noise coming through as well. If I turn the Headset off, it isn't there anymore in the conversation. Also, some calls come in just fine with no issues at all. Does anyone have any reasoning for this? Is it because my phone is 1.1 and the moto is 1.2? Any help would be great!

Hi, i've just bought a nokia 6230, and whenever i turn the phone on a screen saying "How are You ?" Pops up. I've deleted any message from the welcome screen setting in "phone settings", and not entered any text, but it still comes up. Any idea where it is coming from or how to get rid of it ? thanks.
