Saving Images

For some reason when I EMAIL a image (jpg format) it will not allow me to save it. it gives me a error saying "cannot use /:\*,?," I mean what kind of error is that? I sent itto my girlfriends V600 and then had her forward it to me and I was able to save it fine. I also attempted to send my self another image in bmp format and it saved fine. Does this phone not save jpg formats?

6230, SE-T637, or Moto V551

I am currently using a nokia 6820 and I need to make a switch. I have narrowed my search to these three phones: 6230, SE-T637, or a moto V551. I am partial to a flip phone, but ease of use, reliability, and reception are my main concerns. Any suggestions from those of you who have tried these phones.

Missing Call timer on the 6230

Hi,

I got a 6230 after having a 3650, now the 3650 has better options i know, but i hated the lag on the series 60 and the series 40 6230 has much less lag so i got it, the only thing that really really annoys me is that theres no in call timer, on all my other nokia phones, under call timer theres an option so that you can see how long youve been talking but on the 6230 i dont see that, theres just an option to see how long you talked, after you hang up... is there anyway to activate the call timer during the call? tradionally it was under call logs>call timer but now its not... any ideas?

Reference phone numbers?

🙄

After reading a number of threads, it looks like everyone has suggested a number of people, places or things to contact on a hot line, call center, dials in support ... well you get it.

I wanted to see if anyone had good numbers that directly connected you with a live person and would be so kind as to post those numbers and we could keep them in 1 place?

Just a thought, I will start it off with the shortest "Q" I have found in a very long time for:

Cingular: 800-356-9752

HELP: 911 - I hope you all have that one already...

Cellular help: 611 " see above " : >

Nokia Audio Manager Freezes

I have managed to set up a playlist on my phone playing songs from my MMC card (original 32 MB card that came with the phone). Then I deleted one song and added another (through bluetooth).

Now when I click on the playlist folder in audio manager, it freezes. How can I adjust the playlist or create a new one?

Any help would be reatly appreciated b/c this is one of the best features of the phone.

Thanks

SIM Card- dynamic?

Hello,
I believe the SIM Card on this phone is dynamic but I'm not sure what that means- it means I don't have to do anything and everything is autosaved on to the card, right?

Anyone know?
Thanks!

Nokia 6230 MMC card reader hack

Hi, if you have a 6230 you will like this 🙂

As many if you will no doubt be aware, the Nokia 6230 has a serious bluetooth flaw, in that it will freeze connections when transferring mp3 files. This makes it virtually impossible to transfer mp3's to the phone via bluetooth.

To get around this, I bought a simple USB MMC card-reader for my 512mb MMC card (incidentally, www.mobymemory.com make really good highly-compatible phone MMC cards and card readers). This lets you copy mp3's (way faster than bluetooth) over to the memory card. Cool. The only problem is that the 6230's Music Player relies on playlists, and if you have no playlists it will say "no music files found". Thanks Nokia! However, it is possible to get around this by being cl...

reasons to buy unlocked version of 6230?

nyzFinest said:
DONT BUY THE CINGULAR LOCKED VERSION MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE UNLOCK SILVER OR BLACK VERSION FROM NOKIA DIRECT

Is there some advantage to doing this? I'm trusting that the online very happy reviews of this Nokia phone are on the money, and lean towards upgrading to it, but wonder what you get in an "unlocked" phone that is better. I don't even know what it means for the phone to be unlocked: can you use one with Cingular? Thanks for educating me!

battery - how much talk time do you get?

i know that the official talk time for this battery is 4 hours. i haven't gotten anywhere close to that. i charged and let the battery completely drain three times - as the book suggested.

i have turned off the screensaver, bluetooth, speakerphone and anything else that could make it lose its battery more quickly.

i erased my talk time totals and conducted an experiment to see how much time i got. my phone died last night after only 2 hours of talk time.

what gives? have other people experimented to see what kind of time they are getting? i know the battery life is bad for a nokia, but this is bordering on ridiculous.

6230 phone

🙂

The battery on this phone is remarkable!!!
With my old extended battery on my Samsung from Verizon, the battery would go low after 30-45 minutes of talk time.

With this Nokia, seems like I never have to charge this thing.

CDMA Version?

Anyone know if Nokia will make a CDMA version of this phone? I'm with Sprint and don't want to give up my fair and flexible to port out to Cing. 😁 Thanks for the info.

Music Player and Stereo Headphones

I just purchased a 512KB MMC card for my Nokia 6230 and downloaded from my computer a bunch of MP3 songs. I placed them in a folder on the MMC card. Though through Media player I can access individual songs, Music player is not finding any songs. Does anyone know if Music Player can be configured to look for songs on a folder on an MMC card? Or do I have to put all the songs in the root directory of the card?

Also, does anyone know of a commercial stereo headphone adapter for the Nokia 6230? I have seen a number of home made solutions, but other than Belkin's universal 2.5 adapter, there doesn't seem to be any solution for 3.5 headphones.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

vibrate options

I was playing with this phone today in the store and was wondering how the vibrate options work. I could only find one option: on or off. Does this apply to everything (calls, text messages, voice mail alerts, etc)? I'm about to buy a new phone and one of the things I really hate about the one I have now is that it will vibrate for calls, but not text messages, and even for calls there's no option to combine ringing with vibrate. Can I do all of these things with the 6230? If not, what Cingular phones have these options? Thanks.
