Nokia 6230 MMC card reader hack

Hi, if you have a 6230 you will like this 🙂

As many if you will no doubt be aware, the Nokia 6230 has a serious bluetooth flaw, in that it will freeze connections when transferring mp3 files. This makes it virtually impossible to transfer mp3's to the phone via bluetooth.

To get around this, I bought a simple USB MMC card-reader for my 512mb MMC card (incidentally, www.mobymemory.com make really good highly-compatible phone MMC cards and card readers). This lets you copy mp3's (way faster than bluetooth) over to the memory card. Cool. The only problem is that the 6230's Music Player relies on playlists, and if you have no playlists it will say "no music files found". Thanks Nokia! Any idea what the playlist file extension is or where it is stored on the phone? I can't install their manager program and was hoping I could just make a playlist file myself and transfer it over.

Unfortunately no, you can't do this because when you open up the phone in the phone browser the playlist folder is hidden. You can thank Nokia for this. The only way to get a playlist on there is to use the Nokia PC Suite's Audio Manager - v6.4 is best.
