Looks like this phone has received rave reviews from the users. I am currently a Verizon customer with a Samsung SCH 670 phone. It's a nice phone, but for some reason Samsung does not believe in Speakerphones.
I am considering switching over to Cingular and getting this Nokia 6230 phone or possibly the Motorola V551 phone.
Anybody with opinions on both phones and how's the service/signal at Cingular?

Personaly I can tell you that Nokia's reception is better. I used to have the Samsung E715 before this phone and I can really tell that this phone gets better reception. Hope this helped.

It really depends where you live. I think the 6230 is wonderful, and I've had no problems with Cingular in any major city. I don't travel much to more rural areas, and that's where Verizon will have an advantage, but with the AT&T merger, Cingular's converage has become quite comprehensive.

Things the v551 does not have or do:
Mp3 player- v551 plays 'em, but can only store 5mb total(pics and music).
Expandable memory- I have a 512mb MMC card in my 6230.
Infared
Longer video on 6230
Faster edge on 6230
Preset ringers come through bluetooth headset on 6230, silly defaults on Moto.
I currently own v600, v3 Razr and 6230. If I were forced to have only one, it would be the 6230. I do like my 2 Moto's very much though.

I just signed with Cingular and got the 6230 today. Have not had a chance to play with it yet. So far, so good. I left Verizon after being with them for 18 months. Cingular seems to have the better rate plans, and I really like the Rollover minutes.......

I have both the V551.
I use my phone for the best talking quality.
V551, is excellent, but battery life SUCKS, maybe get 180 mins of talk time, I have had 4 and they are all the same.
Now the 6230 is a little better, but has a microphone problem. Picks up all background noise. so if your tv is sliglty on or tire noise, it will pick all that up.
Chris, V180 looks sucks, but best sound/battery. sucks the screen blows
