The phone did well here through the mountains. It kept signal through a place that I usually drop calls. I noticed that the signal was weaker with heavy clouds and rain today in the same area. The 4500 is as good or better on RF for me.

Newbie question

Question: Is it normal to hear a static at a very low level when on a call? This happens on all calls - to hardlines and cells. I am in a good signal area. My previous phone was analog only, so I expected the new digital vx4500 would eliminate this.

Thanks,

JC

voice dialing

I just got the phone and purchased the office kit so I could sync with outlook....well, it syncs the contacts but not the calendar so i am sending it back...anyway, does anyone else have problems with the voice dialing...I select the button, say contacts..so far..so good...then I say the name of a contact and all the guesses are not even close...once in a while the third choice is the correct one, but usually it doesnt even recognize at all...it tells me to voice train...guess what, did that already...I mean it is so bad..I would say Jones and it asks me if I said Smith...really terrible....when i had 5 contacts it seemed to work better...now I have 177.

LG VX6000 vs VX4500 vx Samsung SCH-A610

Hey Guys,

I currently own the LG VX4500 in which I have 15 days to try it out. I'm tired of the software glitches and also hearing about the poor display compared to VX6000. I understand the Samsung A610 is coming out tomorrow, Feb. 10th. I only have three more days until my trial is up and would like to know what is a better phone to go with? Please give me your insight and details. Thanks for all your help.

Another humble LG 4500 review

LG 4500 comments. Most if not all have been made before, but here’s my list.

My biggest pet peeve – voice dial is too many steps. Sequence is:
Me:
Phone: Please say a command
M: Contacts
P: Please say a name
M: Mr Smith
P: Did you say Mr Smith
M: Yes
P: Calling

Isn’t this a longer sequence than voice dialing on most other phones!? Upon pressing Voice Command button, would be nice to be able to say “Call Mr Smith” in one step.

Second pet peeve: I’m getting a low level hiss on all calls.

Voice command – wish “digit dial” was simply “dial.” Might be able to train it this way. Also phone’s voice command responses are too loud. Should match your speaker phone and ear piece settings.

Should be able to turn voice co...

Picture ID

Can someone explain the picture id function on this phone? I was under the assumption that you can receive pictures on this phone via someone w/ a camera phone or by having it emailed to your handset. If this is the case can you then set that image as your wallpaper?

Any info on this would be appreciated.

thanks

Manner Mode on LG VX 4500?

Can anyone who has the new LG VX 4500 tell me if that annoying maaner mode button is still on the side of the phone just like the VX 4500 and VX 6000? Is there any way to lock that button?

I am trying to decide between the 4500 and the Samsung 530....any opinions on this?

Also, does anyone know if there is anything else coming out soon?

Vibrate Mode

Other reviewers noted that the vibration on the 4400 was very weak and that you may not even feel it. Any thoughts/experience with the 4500?

New Review

On my 3rd day with the phone and here is my review:

Pros:
Speaker phone is great.
Driving mode works great, and you can answer calls without touching any buttons. You don't even have to touch the phone to hang up, as long as whoever you were talking to does. Digit Dial is great, picks up the numbers you voice very easily without mistake.
Haven't dropped any calls yet, but inside my house I barely have 1 bar, whereas my ATT phone had full strength. But this is probably a Verizon/Tampa thing.

Cons:
Voice dialing of contacts by name is horrible. Most of the time it doesn't even come close.
Battery life is ok, but not great. I may buy the extended battery.
The outside LCD changing colors regarding call type or message t...

Attn: 2fingers and spectar

So, should I go for it? I have the original packaging for the 4400B in my car in the anticipation that I may stop by the Verizon store after work to swap it for the 4500.

Or do you think I should keep the 4400B?

New trick discovered !!!!!

😁

Got a new trick that I need someone to verify. I tried this today and had success. The other night I noticed that I had the phone closed but was listening through the speaker. I couldn't figure out how.

Well, here it is.... I made a call with the headset in, and as soon as the call connected I disconnected the headset. My expectation was to be able to hear only. But to my deep satisfaction, I was able to speak and hear on the VX4500 closed. I only needed to start the call with the headset. This means that there is more hope for calls with the phone closed using the speaker entirely. My wife could hear me fine through the mic even with the phone closed. Hopefully software will be changed to allow for this. Woo Hoo !!!

dead earpiece when using a headset ???

has anyone noticed that when you plug in a headset and make a call, you cannot hear yourself in your earpiece? when you are talking, it is almost like you are talking into dead air. my previous phone was a v60 – when you used a headset, you could hear yourself (like on a landline) when you used a headset.

any thoughts?

My review

I apologize for the confusion on the external LCD deal...but to let you know I have yet to figure out how rabernet got the external LCD to change color 😕 , I looked through all the menus, and you can change the LED color light, and the theme colors for the internal LCD. The only adjustment (I found) was to adjust the contrast on the external LCD...rabernet, are you sure you didn't adjust the LED color, and thought you adjusted the external LCD..not patronizing, far from it..just trying to make sure I didn't miss simething. let me know...because I even tried another one in the store..same deal as mine.

My humble LG 4500 review

This is my first post here, so bear with me if I'm a bit long-winded!

I bought my 4500 last Saturday (1/31) in Los Angeles. I am a long-time Nokia user (with AT&T Wireless), and I finally had enough of dropped calls and poor coverage with AT&T and made the switch.

I was quite wary of switching to a non-Nokia phone because I have 7+ years of comfort-zone using their menus...

I am very happy to report that, so far, my LG4500 and Verizon experience has been quite good.

The phone has met or exceeded my expectations in most every category.

The "Positives" so far include:
- fantastic coverage and call clarity
- good choice of base ringtones and wallpapers
- good MobileWeb performance and speed
- awesome speakerphone, better than...
