I apologize for the confusion on the external LCD deal...but to let you know I have yet to figure out how rabernet got the external LCD to change color 😕 , I looked through all the menus, and you can change the LED color light, and the theme colors for the internal LCD. The only adjustment (I found) was to adjust the contrast on the external LCD...rabernet, are you sure you didn't adjust the LED color, and thought you adjusted the external LCD..not patronizing, far from it..just trying to make sure I didn't miss simething. let me know...because I even tried another one in the store..same deal as mine.

Spectar,

No, I don't take you as being patronizing at all! 🤣

Honestly, I had my hands on one for about 1/2 an hour in a store, looked at the menu features and was "pretty" sure I saw in Options/Display a Sub LCD Color that allowed you to change the colors of the external LCD for Incoming Calls, Missed Calls, New SMS Alert, Reminders, and Standby. Because I remembered your review and wanted to see if I could find how to change colors.

But, I don't own this phone, so I wouldn't bet the farm that I was right! 😕 I certainly don't want to be giving false information!

So, overall, what has been your experience with the phone, now that you've had a little more time with it? Friday is drawing near (when I'm going to go into the...

I kept looking for sub that said sub LCD, but nothing yet... 😕 , if you drop by the store check again and let me know. just for your fyi I actually have the 4400 (2 of them) and an I700, I use the 4500 as a secondary phone on my I700's account (just switch the esn's). In comparison I must say the 4500 APPPERENTLY has better reception. In my house on the second floor there are some dead spots thatwhen I wlak around I can drop calls. So far with 4500 I have yet to drop any calls 😎 . I feel that the earpiece is louder than that of the 4400 (I dont know if this was improved in later models, I got the 4400 when it was first released). The quirks dont annoy me as much now, many of wich can be fixed in a future upgrade (having to press the "ok" ...

got a random question/thought
do you think they(LG) purposefully, for example, wouldn't have the 4500's outside screen have different colors or have the 4400 have the charge indicator that you have mentioned and not with the 4500. what I mean is when they come out with a new phone, it is better, but maybe not in EVERY little way so that maybe someone is like oh i gotta have the outside screen change colors, and then they still get sales on older models....???

anyway, when you say upgrade you mean like upgrading your phone's software? or like a new phone, a 4500b or whatever?
thanks
-matt

i'm bored at work which is why i was writing all that crap, feel free to comment 🙂

ahh boredom, the mother of all wasted time.. 😎 , what the tech meant was like a new software (actually, firmware upgrade)..that should fix some of the quirks. And yes..maybe I agree, maybe some of the quirks are there to make buyers decide between models... 😉

what do you mean when you sy the voice dial only calls the first number on your contact list? Hopefully when you have 3 or more numbers for a contact you can voice dial any one of them....this is important, I am thinking of getting this phone tomorrow.

I am sorry to report to you that you will only be abel to voice dial the "default" number on a contacts list (will be the first number you enter for the contact, but you can change it to another), the only walk around is to assign each nubmer its on contact slot, like one for "bobs home", another "bobs cell" etc etc. (you have 499 contact slots availble)I would have thought someone at lg RD would have said..HEY multiple contacts..have the phone say "which number?" if more than one number was found, and then say "mobile" or "home", ohhh well, one can only hope that in a future frimware upgrade someone in lg can "fix" this. Its still a good phone, and all in all I learned to live with this "glitch"

Spectar,

I don't suppose you happen to know how they determine what things to address in firmware upgrades do you? Is it from customer feedback, i.e., would we need to contact Verizon to voice our concerns so that if enough of us do, it will be addressed?

I'm really thinking I'm going to get this phone on Friday, still reading comments! 😉

I don't do much voice dialing anyway, usually I just use the quick dial (not sure that's what it's called, but dialing the location and holding the last digit of the location down until it dials). Those who I have multiple phone numbers for, I normally dial just their primary number anyway.

I'm getting the phone for the speaker phone aspect when answering calls while driving (I live in ...

I would definitely try this phone out ahead to see if the speaker is going to be loud enough for you in the car. I am curious what others think about using the speaker in car. Around town speeds were not a problem, but driving on the I-285 loop, I-75, or I-85 would be a great test when not stopped in rush hours parking lots.

I have never used a speaker before so cannot compare this one to others.

I have previously used the quick dial as well, but once you try the voice command you'll see how nice it is.

Thank GOODNESS I don't have to drive on any of these highways in my daily commute. I'm on GA-400 daily though from exit 7 to exit 12. The rest of my commute is all back roads. Even then, driving can be frightening 😳

So, other than the 15 minutes that I'm on 400, the other 30-45 minutes will be 45-55 mph driving.

I'm also lucky not to experience the rush hour parking lots, since I work 6-4 (thank goodness for flex hours!!! 😁 ) Now if I hit one today, I'm going to blame you! LOL
