Motorola Droid

Can someone who has the new update tell me if they can now use the bluetooth to voice dial.

I have never used a hands free device for my phone, but I am going to need to break down and get one.

Any suggestions of a good one. I have heard jawbone is good. But I don't want to get one until I can use the voice dial.

I am coming from a Voyager and was surprised today when the VZW rep told me there was no way to transfer my contact list from the Voyager over to the Droid! I have over 100 contacts! Is there an easier way to do this other than manually?

I understand with the new update that the lock screen has changed to a straight across line motion instead of an arch. Do you still have to push the unlock button on top AND do the swipe motion? I'm hoping that is the case because if all you have to do is swipe from left to right to unlock the phone, I will end up with a million pocket dials which I can't afford.

I found downloading a free zip program helped, that way the phone recognizes the zip file extension.

If you download this from your phone to your SD card, it will be saved in the downloads folder, and will need to be moved to the main directory (no subfolders). You can move the file by long pressing the file name and select move.

Then just follow the steps outlined on both AllDroid or PhoneArena.

Unless I am not looking in the right place, i noticed that all the ringtones sound like songs...What happened to a normal sounding ringtone? Do I have to find them in one of the apps?

anyone know when a software update will be released ?

is anyone having problems with your email disappearing from your phone ? mostly when mail is there and you hit load more is when it does this

Maybe I just don't understand the app...even when "killing" certain apps, they reappear when open ing up ATK again...these apps include Cardio Training, Locale, Corporate Calender (all the above, I have not opened nor am I running)...anyone can explain?

Also, why does going under menu>settings>applications>running services only show: android keyboard, email and google, even when ATK shows 11 or so running apps?

Finally, can anyone clarify the meaning of the memory remarks at the bottom of the running services screen:

ie Avail 14MB+93MB in 17 Other 46MB in 3

Just noticed that when in the middle of a call, if you start to punch in numbers (ie. to dial another number) and make a mistake, there is no way to delete the erroneous numbers. Any ideas about this?...

So I've saved a mms and want to way h the video again...or send it. Does anyone know how to play/send that video off the SD card. I'm assuming I need an app, but am wondering if I really do...

I'm frustrated with some of the things this phone didn't come with out of the box

This capability is essential for me. I use my phone in the car and must be able to dial "hands free" using the BT headset. Every Verizon phone I've owned can do this, but I'm hearing conflicting information about the Droid. On my Moto W755 it's pretty simple - I push the button on the headset, the phone says "say a command", I say "call Joe", and the phone places the call. Does the Droid do this or not?

So . . . I have a widget on my home screen which I can long press and then drag down to the bottom of my screen to the trash and delete. Great!

But do I need to delete the contents of the trash? How can I do that? I've installed a number of widgets and shortcuts which I've deleted and don't want to fill the trash can up; must be a way to remove complete.

Help would be appreciated. Are you suppose to be able to open PDFs attached to e-mails without an app or is help needed?

My e-mail has a PDF attached about 60kb and at the bottom a little Android Icon with a button saying OPEN. When I click, it says Fetching and keeps spinning but never opens. I also downloaded Beamreader but same thing happened.

How can I read PDFs from e-mails; Your help appreciated.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if you can change the input mode for sending text messages when holding the phone upright. I would like to use the old school number system instead of the full keyboard. When holding the phone in landscape mode the full keyboard is great, but I would like the option to use the old texting system so I text without having to look.

I have found if you hold down on the "type to compose" box it will bring up a window that says Input method but clicking on that just gives you the android keyboard option.

If the phone doesn't offer it dose anyone know of a good app that would allow me to text using the number keypad system.

I am coming from the Voyager and I use my phone as a calendar.

With the droid, when I set an Event using the regular Calender, it vibrates once for like a half a second,(I choose to turn the Notification Ringtone off) and the screen doesn't even light up, let alone display the event like the voyager did and give me the option to Snooze or Dismiss.

This is a HUGE issue for me as I have already missed several "appointments"... Has anyone else noticed this or found a solution????

I wish it had a belt clip sensor so I wouldn't have to unlock it, then pull down my notification menu yada yada yada

I wish my alarm clock would quick randomly popping up into my application killer

anyone having issues where people on the other end complain of echoing? when i call someone- and this happens intermittently, of course, they'll sometimes complain that they are echoing. whenever they complain that they echo, i hear every third word of what they are saying.

any ideas?

Does anyone know of a way to put Yahoo mail messages into folders? I can view folders that I have, I just can't place messages into them. Just wondered if I've been missing something here. Thanks!
