To Reviewer: MMS Handling?

How well does it handle MMS..such as animated .GIF files that have sound playing in the background? Does it show the animation with the sound playing at the same time in the background or does it play the animation on one screen and the sound on another screen like the iPhone?

I want this phone!

The keyboard issue is kinda a bummer, but honestly I'll most likely use the touch screen keypad more if it's that bad.

For software lag, I'm confident that most of these issues will be resolved through firmware updates.

The main reason I want this phone though is for the interest it generates. We have a lot of customers looking for a multi-media focused cellphone, and while the Tour/Storm can do facebook, I think we all can agree Blackberry is still more business than party.

First thing I'll do when I get this phone is load a movie on it. My smartphone sales will be great.

One thing I notices with your review is you said the video quality was poor. Some other reviews I've read mentioned that while the camera was finicky, the v...

Some basic yet fun questions...

First... can a picture that is stored in the phone's memory be used as the "desktop background" or do I have to look at that ugly grey screen all the time? And for that matter can you have three different pictures as backgrounds since you have three different home screens?
Second... a feature that I LOVE on the BB Storm is that you can have different ringtones for each person's texts. Meaning I can have Linkin Park playing when Steve sends me a text and then I can have Rascal Flatts playing with Jen sends me a text. I love the ability to know who's texting me without having to even look at the screen. Beyond that is it even possible to have different alert sounds than the "DROID" robot sounding alert that is pre-installed for alerts.

I'm guessing the answer to this is, "Of course," but I'm asking anyway. Is there an Android app for ringtones? I downloaded a bunch from the Verizon ringtone app for my current phone, and though I know I can't transfer those ringtones to the Droid or any other phone, I want to find those ringtones and put them on the Droid. The only Verizon app on the Droid right now (which is ok with me) is visual voicemail. Thanks for any help.

app storage limitation?

I've been reading about Android limiting where you can store applications. The Droid comes with 512 ROM for applications. (Not sure preloaded applications use up some of this .)

Are Android app developers that buttoned up and space conscious? Can I expect a game like TigerWoods to ever be available on this platform?

Is is even logical to compare it to my ipod touch that can utilize the entire 16 gigs for apps/music/video or whatever?

Six months down the road I don't want to be hassled with which app do I keep and which can I get rid of to make room.

Source for other U.I.'s?

I have read that you can find 3rd party User Interfaces to install on the Droid that function like HTC's Sense UI. Can any of you techie types point me in the right direction to find something. I want to research this a little so I know what's out there before the Droid comes out. I had a chance to play with a friend's HTC Hero and want a comparable interface. I appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you!

I Would Wait.

"Before running out to the store on November 6 when it goes on sale, I'd wait just a week or two to see what else Verizon Wireless has up its sleeves."

Agreed. Reportedly Verizon is throwing everything except the kitchen sink.

Syncing Music

Anyone know if you can with iTunes or Windows media player? I thought I read somewhere that this was much more difficult than the iPhone but couldn't really figure out what hoops you would have to jump through to do it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

In all the on-line news, pictures and videos, I've yet to see anyone use the Droid to take a 5MP picture and post it.

World Phone

I notice that Verizon now has SIM cards in their Blackberry's and the HTC Smart Phones to be compatible with Vodaphone's (who own's 45% of Verizon) global network. I don't see any indication that this phone is a world phone? Also, I wonder if it will be compatible with Verizon's new 4G, LTE network that they are rolling out?

How about the phone phone functions?

I've read most everything about Droid, but no comments or feedback on the functioning of the phone itself....call quality, clarity, volume, connections, etc. If anyone with a preview, please share.
