Contact list...

I am coming from a Voyager and was surprised today when the VZW rep told me there was no way to transfer my contact list from the Voyager over to the Droid! I have over 100 contacts! Is there an easier way to do this other than manually?

Ok I will give that a try but when I import from the SD card will it put the contacts where they need to go in their own folder on the phone that is?

Your VZW rep is mistaken. If you run Backup Assistant on the Voyager, go to:

Http://support.vzw.com/how_to_use/transfer_co ntacts/droid.html

Follow the instructions to import your contacts into Gmail, which will then sync to your phone.

Hope this helps.

Remove the space in the URL in my previous reply. Not sure how it got there...

Actually I found a better way at least for me anyway. I exported my CSV file from the Backup Assistant and saved it to my desktop then I imported that file into my Address Book on my Mac. I created a group called Cell Phone Contacts. I then exported that group and saved it to the SD card. Put the card in the Droid and hit contacts, and there they all were!

I find it hard to believe that the Voyager is that different, internally, from the Dare that this would be the case.

My Verizon rep disappeared with my Droid and my dare for about 10 minutes, and when he came back, all of my contacts were on my droid. the only minor annoyance is that they show as "phone-only (unsynced)", which means they don't back up into gmail. But I discovered if I add the contact into gmail, it correctly matches up with the contact already on the phone.

Since I had Backup Assistant on my dare, maybe I'll check Gunslinger's link 🙂

as long as they have a cellbrite, you can transfer contacts. if they don't have a cellbrite, find someone who does

I would try a different VZW store. They didn't have any trouble moving my contacts from my Voyager to my new Droid..sounds like the guy just didn't know how to do it 😲
