Change in Storing Apps?

I don't know a lot about the technology, so forgive my naivete here. I may have this wrong, but I thought I read that one of the complaints about the Droid is that apps are stored on internal memory, not on the memory card, and that there are plans afoot to change that. If so, will that be a software change or will that require the latest version of the phone? I am thinking about switching from my BB Tour to the Droid, especially because of the apps that are available, but don't know if I should wait until this changeover is made. Thanks.

Anyone now torn between getting the Droid or the Nexus?

I had narrowed down my search to the Droid and now the Nexus spoiled everything. I wonder if the spring 2010 arrival at Verizon is dependable. I'm due to renew next month but I just don't know how much longer I can wait after that. 😕

Motorola Droid - Email

I'm interested in getting the Motorola or HTC Droid but I need to know how good the email feature is. Email for work is a top priority for me but I also like the apps of the Droid. Any opinions/reviews? Thanks.

just got my droid and verizon servic@e 2 days ago and....

I LOVE THEM BOTH! 😁

Is it just me or does att have weird colored phones? Most remind me of like kid toy phones....lol.

I was a diehard att/iphone fan. But that was before the droid. Plus service is soooooo much better with Verizon.

Also someone add me on latitude. I want to see how that works. Thx.

Strange Droid's Evil Eye ??

Yesterday I was watching TV and glanced at my Droid and noticed some weirdness. The Droid evil eye was on the screen looking at me 🙂 The keys at the bottom were lit up. It is the same eye that glows when the phone is booting up. I picked up the phone and tapped the power button. After about a second the eye went away and the phone went to the home screen. Not really sure what the hell that was about. It didn't appear that the phone rebooted and i haven't seen this issue again.

Anyone else experienced the evil eye ??

MMS Problem

I have heard about the Droid not sending MMS messages at all, but that is not my problem.

When I go to send a picture my Droid will usually flip the picture I'm sending, sideways. It seems to only happen when I'm sending portrait pictures, also.

Is this a bug or do I have a defective device?

Droid won't stay powered off when charging!!!

I am thinking it has to do with one of the apps I have running on my phone but it will not stay powered off if I have it hooked up to the charger which annoys me. I like to turn my phone off while I am sleeping. Seems like I have to charge it with the phone ON and then turn it off once the charge is completed.

I am not sure if downloading the Advance Task Manager that finds apps that are running and turns them off will work in this situation. I also wanted to download a Twitter app but I noticed that it does the same thing. It won't let the phone go into sleep mode so as of yet I have not installed Twidroid.

I used my Droid GPS for a long drive

After using the Droid GPS, I am not quite ready to give up my TomTom. The Droid mapped my drive perfectly, but I did not have the convenient large touch screen icons that the TomTom supplies. I think it would be much better if I had a driving partner/navigator. The places feature is not well integrated with the map, at least not if I am driving. How much of the GPS is accessible with verbal commands? For me, getting some kind of mount for the Droid in my car will be essential if I want to use it as a GPS.

It worked great for me as a travel GPS once I was at my destination. It correctly found coffee shops for me and the maps are great if I am sitting where I can study what is going on.

Issue with no vibration when msgs or alerts are received

Does anyone have fix for this Menno, you've been helpful so I am hoping you have the answer!!

So I have my phone in VIBRATE mode, however events I have listed in my calendar are not vibrating to remind me of the event!

I received a text message this morning and the only way I knew I had a message was I saw the icon in the Notifications panel.

So if my phone is in vibrate mode, It won't vibrate when I get a text, or remind me of a calendar event? Something is not right here. I checked my settings and I DID see something for vibrate. So maybe I will check that out.

Also I noticed the other day I had my phone in vibrate mode and I got a call and the phone rang and vibrated! Shouldn't vibrate bypass anything else? I mean that is t...

I played with the iPhone then the Droid and

finally lost a bit of love for the iPhone and now see the beauty of the Droid. The iPhone is a nice phone, sparkly and all, but the Droid just seems like a machine ready to be modified to my liking; I like to tinker.

The only question I have is, what benefits will the Droid have over the Eris (other than the keyboard) after the Eris receives an OS upgrade?

Also, my new-every-two comes in Feb, so are there any whispers about what may be coming to VZ early next year that will also make a big splash in the android market? If I have to wait till Feb anyway should I wait just a bit longer into the new year?

Battery charging while on/off

Hi gang! Long-time lurker here!

I just got the Droid yesterday and it's pretty much everything I hoped for. The only problem I seem to be having is an A/C charging issue with it. The white light next to the USB port stays on indicating a charge when I have the phone powered off. When I turn the phone on, still plugged in, it doesn't acknowledge that it is charging and the light on the side of the phone goes off. I have disabled GPS, Wifi and the other push services, but I still can't tell if the phone is taking the charge.

Sorry if this is a topic that's been covered already. I have looked through some of the other threads, but I don't seem to see anything showing the same exact type problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Does the DROID have a built in RSS reader/Aggregator?

Or do I need to go download one ?
I saw "FeedR News Reader" on the Android MarketPlace but would rather not have to pay for it, if a free one exists.

If I need to download one, can anyone recommend
one.

I listen to Buzz Out Loud, TWIT, and Windows Weekly and would love it if the phone was able to grab those podcasts itself.

Thank you

Air Painter - free app

I found an app called Air Painter over on the Android Anarchy website (lists the top 100 apps for the droid by the way) that seems pretty cool except I can't seem to figure out how to properly use it. If anyone has it and has used it, could you let me know how it works. It does come with instructions that I followed but I am still not sure how to go about getting this to work.

They make it sound like you can type up a message then publish it and post it somewhere in a public place for others to read. They gave an example of trying to use it in a big stadium!

Learning Thread

I wanted to start this thread as sort of a way to learn more about the Motorola Droid. Instead of ranting about how it compares to the iPhone I want people who have experience with the device to tell more what it does and HOW to use it. Droid is new, even to me. I want to know more about it and so does everyone else. Also if the last comment was about the wallpaper and you want to mention something about ringtones, put that on your subject line. For example:

Wallpaper
To change wallpaper you can "long touch" the main screen and bring up a menu to change wallpaper.

Does it support animated wallpaper, photos from pics you took, downloaded from computer, etc?

Ringtones
To change you ringtones go to your settings. From there you...
